Dealing damage isn't the problem, by virtue of Trample and a very respectable 7/7 body. The problem is playing it at 7 mana.

Ramp? Fun toy, but its dumb fat all the same. Imagine :R::G: with this and Goblin Scrapper. Brutal.

neat in multiplayer, freewin in limited, subpar for constructed.
as top of the curve fat in a mono G/x deck, I find it hard to believe this doens't win you the game...

if they still have removal around when this guy hits, you didn't play your green deck properly
There are many worse ramp targets, you can populate his token and he'll trigger evolve over and over again I guess.
The artwork is nice and I like the idea of giant bugs suddenly appearing everywhere.

Still he's very very slow and can easily be taken care of.
He will most likely end the game if not treated accordingly, but almost every big thing will do that sooner or later.

It's interesting. Since the tokens are copies have the ability that creates tokens. A single bit of trample damage could lead to huge problem for your opponent. Honestly, I believe it has home and constructed. I just don't think we know what that home is yet.

I'd like to play ramp into this guy.  A serious problem for any opponent.    
There are many worse ramp targets, .

who would have ever thought Duskdale Wurm
 would be obsolete so quickly.

anyway, out of monogreen ramp targets, we also have Moldgraf Monstrosity, Elderscale Wurm, and Craterhoof Behemoth.  I probably take each of those ahead of this.

Imo, 7 is a top of the curve ramp target, 8 is elf ramp or reanimator territory.  Moldgraf Monstrosity is bad, and has seen enough play to back up that statement.  Craterhoof Behemoth is no good by himself, he needs a swarm.  And Elderscale Wurm is good against red (if you can get him out), and good for people who love the number 7.  This guy can make an army by himself.  At the end of a game where hopefully you've laid down enough threats that your opponent has had to use most/all of their removal already, this guy is pretty much game over if he connects.     
So, going to be paired with Heartless Summoning as soon as possible for me. I'm already playing those colors anyway. Playing it as a 6/6 for 5 would be incredible.

Fixed. An unfortunate typo.

well. this triggers evolve pretty consistently. Token enter battlefield, all creatures with toughness. Second turn 2 tokens, both triggers and you get +2/+2 on all evolve creatures. Use simic guildmage for 8/8. Once you get to 7 mana with simic and it's not hard to do with all your blue instant counter spells and green mana ramp, you can pretty much have all your creatures go to 7/x or x/7 by the 2nd or 3rd turn. Chances are they're going to concede or if they're dimir, mill the hell out of you before you try.

in casual randomness, play 3 black lotuses and drop this on turn 1.

The artwork suggest that we should have had a Numot effect stapled to the combat damage instead.  Gargantuan insects don't just pop out of the woodworks like that... well, I guess there is always a Simic explanation.
I could see this as a 1-2 of in heartless summoning decks. Along with desecration demon, you will be dropping fatties t3-t5. Plus you could also just crypt ghast (or whatever the ramping extorter is) and drop him t5 full power (with enough to extort). I wish they would reprint swarmyard... him and vorapede would easily be the upper end.
