Destroy target creature. It can't be regnerated. Its controller puts a 3/3 green Frog Lizard token onto the battlefield

I'm loving the pongify functional reprint
Summary: Pongify has returned.
Known as Blitzer on most forums. Despite the username, I am male. Both sex AND gender.
Blue doesn't see "Destroy target creature" very often, but when it does...it's usually pretty dang good.
I'm not sure about the flavour text, can someone who knows french help me out.

It's something along the lines of: "We have merged your vital essence with that of several other creatures. No need to thank us."
So strictly better than Pongify?
Because lizard frog>ape.

Twice as vulnerable to Extinction, so no.

Jokes aside, two non-suported types is not "better" or "worse" than just one.

[<o>]
So much wasted potential for "Target creature becomes 3/3, loses all abilities, and becomes a green Lizard Frog in addition to its other colors and types. (This effect lasts indefinitely.)"

You know, because more creature types is even better.

Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul: Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay." I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board. Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.

That's what RPJesus tends to do. That's why I don't think he's a real person, but some Magic Card Archive Server sort of machine, that is programmed to react to other posters' comments with obscure cards that do in fact exist, but somehow missed by even the most experienced Magic players. And then come up with strange combos with said cards. All of that is impossible for a normal human to do given the amount of time he does it and how often he does it. He/It got me with Light of Sanction, which prompted me to go to RQ&A to try and find if it was even possible to do combat damage to a creature I control (in light that Mark of Asylum exists).

10/10. Amazing.
I always liked pongify but something about its "mechanical flavor" always jarred. Namely, if the creature becomes indestrucible then where does the ape frog lizard come from. TransicentMaster's version makes more sense.

Still, glad to see this in standard. Makes for interesting plays with populate (which is no doubt one of the reasons in favor of the pongify templating).
awesome, pongify returns, as does regeneration hosing!
Surely, it's not the return of Pongify. It's just Pongify, since it was from the Time Spiral block? Innocent

Looks like they accidentally printed this one without the watermark .

Cards that are monocolour and lack a guild mechanic never get a watermark no matter how obviously guild-affiliated they are.
Oh. I only know Pongify from Duels of the Planeswalkers, having started playing with the 2013 core set.

So as a new player, this looks....like a remarkably powerful uncommon card. 1 mana to get a 3/3 on your side of the field after destroying a creature (one you were chump blocking with, was just targeted by an enemy removal spell, or one that has an effect upon death, ideally) or an incredibly cheap removal (with a bit of a downside).

Also, Evolve triggerer.

To me, this looks fantastic. I wonder if it will see constructed play? That 1 mana makes me want to say yes, but I don't know if Pongify ever did.
Came for the flavor, stayed for the game. (10/4/2013: Discovered that I suppose I most closely resemble a Vorthos player, right after my odd obsession with making hyper-budget but effective decks and right before being a Johnny)
Nice, this will be a fun one.
I target your Thragtusk!  Oh... wait...
I predicted this when seeing the Orzhov guild-leader.
There would be an instant that removed him from play in non-white non-red that wasn't a part of the Gruul guild color and that didn't allow him to be reused.

This is deceptively powerful.

This will most definitely be a part of my blue and black control deck.
Except it will be a black and blue deck, not a dimir deck.

Good thing Orzhov is the colors of Unburial Rites. I expect to have a fun back and forth with my Orzhov friend.

I need this right now to deal with Lotleth Troll.
Anyone excited about a frog lizard token!?!

Multifunctional. "Attacking with Griselbrand? What Griselbrand? You need your eyes checked. That's not Griselbrand, it's a frog lizard."
Or play some creatures with evolve, play a Golgari Decoy (evolving anything smaller than 2/2), turn it into an even bigger frog after everything blocks it, leaving them wondering where the zombie elf they were chasing went (and incidentally evolving your other creatures, again), then scavenge it onto the Elusive Krasis, making it an unblockable 4/8 (or better.)

Sir, it is as if you are reading my mind. Except I was also thinking about mono-blue at this point, including things like Cyclonic Rift and the like. Tragic Slip works just as well, if not better, though.

Ehh I dunno.  When the top deck in the format is B/R aggro who sometimes has only one threat above 3 power in Falkenrath Aristocrat, this card is pretty iffy as removal.

Now, casting it on your own undying creature like Geralf's Messenger or a creature like Gravecrawler which comes back--that has some potential.  Maybe U/B zombiess will be a deck again.

Cats land on their feet. Toast lands peanut butter side down. A cat with toast strapped to its back will hover above the ground in a state of quantum indecision.

Pongify was so much better.

I think it is fine against zombies. You can hit the hastey dudes like Thundermaw or Hellrider. You can also use it as tempo. Go ahead and block that Messenger and Pongify your dude to set up another blocker for the next turn.

It might not be ideal in the match-up, but it isn't dead. I can think of many "deader" cards in that (or other) match-ups.

Yeah, one mana removal spell for blue is huge at this point. Speciall if you can wrath the next turn.
A functional reprint of Pongify. Certainly didn't see this one coming!

I wish they would have just called it Pongify and let my dreams come true.
They decided to keep the "cant be regenerated" clause on this. Thought they were trying to get away from that to push Regen. Then again, it sort of makes sense with an effect like this, since doing nothing and giving your opponent a free creature is pretty terrible.

While I love this card (and Pongify), and am very happy to see it, it just makes me wonder why they chose to print this here.

The fact it is a functional reprint of a card from PLC (where they were intentionally screwing around with the color pie) makes me feel somewhat off about this card being mono :U: even if it does hit pretty well on Simic flavor.

This combined with the "cant be regenerated" clause causes me to sort of scratch my head on this one. Not that I am complaining though, Pongify is pretty sweet and all.

I believe (and I may be wrong about this) that they still use the "can't be regenerated" clause but they've scaled it right back rather than putting it on prett much every kill spell and burn spell.

As for Pongify as mono-blue, Maro has stated in the past that it's in colour for blue as part of the polymorph effects it gets, just not at common.

Now I just want some Sand Warrior tokens for Hazezon Tamar.

It's actually "Pongify has found a place in the multiverse". Pongify was from Planar Chaos. Green can also pongify. Seems that removal is going the route of Path to Exile of giving us something back.

Now, if we got some contraptions, that would be something new that went back in time.

@Doaj: They did that joke with one of the nephilim. Sand tokens.

Indeed. The facts are simple and blatent- everything is better with monkeys.
This will see far more play now than it did its first time around. The simple fact that we have Snapcaster Mage at our disposal is enough to push it into fringe play territory.
