I hope all this helps you to see things in a greater light—and understand that Magic: the Gathering was really created by extraterrestials using Richard Garfield as a medium. The game itself reflects the socio-psycho realtivity between living beings, and the science that takes precedence over them—to define reality for them all (like telekinesis, weather, scientific reaction, phenomenon, ingenuity, how the brain works, etc.). I'd also bet there is an entity floating thousands of miles above us, looking down on the current state of game, shaking its fist like... "Wtf are you doing?! You're getting it all screwed up!". Awkward—to be evolved, and yet still subject to the ladder that is the concepts of the game. In this case, misconception, corruption, and deception. With the realities of each color becoming distorted (through oblivious designers), leading the game to reflect a false state of reality that warps the understanding that other people have about those things. For example, people thinking that white could be anything except pure good. This shouldn't be too far off though, I mean...Magic is designed based on reality after all, so that entity (those entities) should be subject to those things. Anyways, I guess when you're busy doing space stuff you can't always be around to ensure quality control. It's no wonder they choose Garfield, they're so much alike; that's exactly what happened to him and Magic.

Sure, as long as you aren't trying to write them down from memory.

I figured pics are going to be faster for most people, since they'll be in the middle of deck building.

Do it however pleases you, so long its thrust worthy, I guess.

I actually feel like Boros and Gruul will be the most popular guilds at the sealed event. Limited tends to be an aggressive format. There is also the factor of the given "bomb" rare for each guild. I think it really depends. If Dimir gets something that heavily mills for the rare. I might go that direction. Seriously, I won Magic 2012 pre-release on Jace, Memory Adept alone.

Yes, you got me.
I'll be going Boros day one, Orzhov day 2, and if I attend a side event or two, I'll prioritize Gruul, then Dimir.

Come pre-release time I'm thinking Gruul will be the most popular guild to play, with Boros a second.  Gruul lays down the beats while Boros will have lots of efficient creatures to play out.  It seems to me that the most underwhelming so far is Orzhov, however there is very little that has been released.  So there is that.  I think Dimir will put a lot of people off, as it seems more focused towards attacking from the sides rather than from the front.  Simic I think may be popular as new players will thinking "INFINITE POWAH!", while more realistic players like the concept of toying around with it.  Granted, with what's been released for Simic so far it seems to be quite viabl.  My earlier predictions on it being weak are likly wrong at this point; there are a ton of efficient creatures in the Common/Uncommon slots for the guild and with the new 0/4 unblockable released it's become a very interesting contender).

It's pretty unfair to make a call on Orzhov right now.  We've seen the guild leader, the guild promo, and that's it.  We've seen a single black card, and it's a guildless card, not an Orzhov card.  It's far too soon to call it underwhelming.

I think I'm actually going to go Dimir first. Gruul second. If I manage to do more than that, Simic.
As thing ar now, i will join 2HG. My friend will go Simic, and a will go Boros/Orzhov, not sure which.
I am going Boros for sure, just for the flavour, if not the power.  But too early to judge the guilds strengths for the pre-release.  Lots of cards yet to see.
I am going simc, because I love the simic. I had a /g deck with graft and bounce that was a blast.  My brother is going boros because he like r/w back in the day. If I can make it to a second one  then Orzhov.
Going simic for pre, maybe boros for release, I'll post mine and my friends also if I can
Beware !!!! There are Zombies even in Spaces !!!
If I'm remembering right, each guild in RTR had 1 gold mythic (guild leader), 4 gold rares (not including the guild pack promos) and a hybrid rare.

During the prerelease, it was possible to get the guild leader, one of the 3 of the gold rares, the Hybrid rare, or one of 3 different mono-colored rares.

Assuming GTC follows suit, I think we can go ahead and add any gold or hybrid rares that get previewed/spoiled to the list in the original post.

Your predictions are all likely correct.  Biovisionary is probably gonna be a rare in the Simic options since Sphinx of the Chimes was an option for Azorius (that was jank.  Pulled two in the same sealed pool.  One in my guild booster, one in another booster.  It quickly became my least favorite card in RtR).

Ick.

Note to self:  Don't choose Simic for prerelease unless Biovisionary is confirmed as not possible to get.
Watermarked rares are probably safe assumptions,  too. Stolen Identity for Dimir.   Angelic Skirmisher seems highly likely for Boros. Crypt Ghast for Orzhov.  Skaarg Goliath for Gruul.

Good point on the Guildmarked mono-colored rares.  Every mono-colored rare with a guildmark was in one of the variations for its guild packs.  Post updated.

Keeping Angelic Skirmisher in just Boros, since it fits mechanically in Boros better, I think.

Selesnya got Precinct Captain last time around, which is an Azorious or Boros flavored card.  However, it makes tokens, which fits in with the Selesnya strategy better.  So it seems like mechanics win out over flavor?
Definitely. Sphinx of the Chimes Didn't fit eiher, mechanically though; but flavor, it fit Azorius a lot better.

What's the best strategy for choosing a guild?   Look at the rares?  The commons?

Look at the commons/uncommons then a brief consideration of the rares.  If most of the commons/uncommons are unplayable in the guild, it will be a very hard fight for you.  Rule of thumb is that you never try to make a deck work where the only real playable is the rare.  That said, you don't get a lot of rares in limted environments, so you can't really count on getting a good guild rare.

Also, one thing people forgot to consider are cross guild mechanics, and how one guild's mechanics/strengths play into the strengths of other guilds(Or vice-versa).

So:

Orzhov:  Although it's main mechanic is Extort, it has relativley easy access to both Cipher and Battalion.  The easiest splashes for Orzhov would be UBW or BWR, as the cross-guild are Boros and Dimir.  That said, one thing to keep in mind is that Extort kind of needs you to have access to a lot of on-color producing lands.  So just a thought for either of these.

Gruul:  Gruul has bloodrush, however has access to both Battalion(From red) and Evolve(From green).  As Gruul is combat oriented, and relatively mid-sized to big creature oriented, either Simic or Boros could find some use with gruul.  So the easiest splash would be either UGR or RGW.

Dimir:  Dimir has cipher, and access to Extort from Orzhov and Evolve from Simic.  So, easiest splashing here would be UBG or UBW.

Boros:  Boros has battalion, and can easily couple with either Bloodrush or Extort.  Bloodrush seems more in line with Boros strategy, however.  So either WGR or BWR are the easiest splashes.

Simic:  Simic has evolve, and can couple with Bloodrush or Cipher easily, and Gruul/Dimir respectively.  So UGB or UGR are the easiest splashes to make.

Not granted, you want to try to keep to 2-color as much as possible, though some guilds are hurt more than others if you don't follow it.  However, the point here is that when picking guilds, it may behoove you to also consider which mechanics are easily accessible by said guild.

Both Boros and Gruul look fairly strong right now, and so choosing either wouldn't be a bad decision as you would gain access to some of the good stuff from the other.  If you go Gruul, you get some Simic along with it, whereas if you go Boros you gain easier access to Extort.  And the same is true for all the guilds.  So it's going to be one thing to keep in mind at least.

Updated with rares from the last few days.

Should I start putting in guildmarked commons/uncommons?  I'm sure they'll be available, but there's no way to tell in advance what rares they'll be paired up with.  I'm thinking it would be best to wait until we see the actual packs.
It's looking like each guild will have one Primordial possible to get from their packs.

Assuming this is correct, there are two possibilities:

Boros - Luminate Primordial
Dimir - Diluvian Primordial (works with Cipher)
Gruul - Molten Primordial
Orzhov - Sepulchral Primordial
Simic - Sylvan Primodial

OR

Boros - Molten Primordial (works with Battallion)
Dimir - Sepulchral Primordial
Gruul - Sylvan Primordial
Orzhov - Luminate Primordial (supports gain life theme of Extort)
Simic - Diluvian Primordial

My bet is on the latter of the two.
If anyone has a link to any videos or pictures of packs that have already been opened, please share.
OP updated with rare slot speculation.

Yeah, because 5/6 fliers for 6 are complete jank in limited.

Do you have to sign up very far in advance? ( I'm not going) cuz I figure the best strategy would be to see if one guild heavily outwheighs the rest, or if one is way worse.
I am Blue/Black

It all depends on where you would be playing.  Smaller venues (local card shops) probably only ordered for a few more people than they had last year, so they can sell out VERY quickly.

Larger venues (those at a trade show or fairplex) accomodate hundreds or thousands, and you can no doubt walk in and get a seat (although your first choice in guild may not be available).

I signed up about a week ago for a local shop I've never been to before, and they said only 10 people were committed (and paid) but they expected 30-70 to actually show.  I'm locked on gruul and don't have to worry about it.  If you're still considering it...people tend to sign up in the last few days, and even show the day of.  You can probably still get in now.
Got to see GTC guildpackes, one guild each, one of shop owner open those to given example what inside for newbies, too bad I didn't bring any camera and my cellphone have the worst quality camera, but he kind enough to let me write those.

two guild for now, will post other three later.

I think it's the Latter, Bemontok opened a Sepulchral Primordal in Dimir.
I will open Simic and Boros tomorrow evening. Can't wait. WIll post (If i think of it.)

In my Boros pack, Molten Primordial was the rare I got. I think every guild can get a primordial of one of the colors. I also think, from my experience anyway, that all Boros packs except mine had either Firemane Angel and/or Aurelia, the Warleader. Maybe it was just my luck.

other notes on rares and the event in general
I did find that even with few rares, Boros/Gruul wins ridiculously fast. Simic was great at our 32-person midnight event. Orzhov and dimir were splashed alternately with Simic, but were never the basis of the winning decks.

My rares from the six packs, starting with the guild pack and excluding the promo:
Molten Primordial
Stolen Identity
Sepulchral Primordial
Rubblehulk
Gyre Sage
and out of the next to last pack, before I opened the Sage, I pulled a regular Sylvan Primordial and a foil Clan Defiance. I never played the Defiance, but it was reassuring to know it was in my deck and ready to ruin somebody's day. That, and a foil good rare almost made up for not getting a mythic when all but two other people got at least 1 (one guy got three....and first place came to him easily...).
If I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong, I still believe I'm right. Think of it as religion. dubito ergo sum.
At our 24 man prerelease here, orzhov OWNED. They took places 1, 3 and 4. Second place was boros, third simic, and gruul and dimir actually performed the worst. As for me, I got 3 wins, a loss and a draw with a naya midrange deck.

If I remember correctly, our 48 man event went:

1. Boros
2. Dimir-splash White
3.  Orzhov splash blue
4.  Straight Gruul (Me, haha!)
5.  Boros
6+No idea.

I think that both Dimir splash white and Orzhov splash blue can be strong with the right sealed pool.  The 1st boros guy swept, but when you're running Firemane, Skyknights (3), Skyjeks, Wojek Halbierds, and multiple guildmages on top of a few solid removal and combat tricks, it's kind of hard to lose.
You also need to take into account bomb cards that end games or make them severely lopsided:

Point: in every single game I won, I drew one of my two boros charms. In every single game I lost, I drew zero charms.
Point: the guy who got first place got an Obzedat in his pool, and couldn't have won the semifinals and finals without it.

Straight dimir no splash made 14th place at best.

As a sidenote: since I wanted to play Naya anyway, there were only two reasons why I chose to take the Boros guildbox instead of gruul: higher chance for Boros Charm and higher chance for Smite. Guess how many Smites I pulled.
So far every single guild pack posted here has, in the uncommon slots, one multicolored (in both guild colors), and one monocolored uncommon of each guild color. The commons appear to have a similar but not exact balance of colors. So this suggests you will either open a guildmage, or a charm, or some other multicolored uncommon, but never more than one of those in your guild pack. And of course there is the rare, the promo, and the guildgate.

Looks like the guild packs are really trying to force a color. I was kinda hoping I would open more straight green cards in my Gruul pack (to be able to go somewhat deep into simic) but now I see that is not possible.

Also, @OP: I thought you could not open the guild leader in your guild pack? I remember hearing something like that before the RTR prerelease, but it may have changed/been false.
Standard Pauper! (play it on MTGO)
