Treasury Thrull
Creature - Thrull (R)

Extort (Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay :wb:. If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life.)
Whenever Treasury Thrull attacks, you may return target artifact, creature, or enchantment card from your graveyard to your hand.

4/4
Totally awesome kitchen table EDH goodness.
Oh I get it, it recurs recastable stuff for more "burn".

I've figured out all its uses everyone! Yay!

Also Thrull, which Orzhov had last time around.
Decks I run
Show
I currently run a deck for Standard, Modern, Commander and Legacy. For standard, I have a typical, horribly budget Rakdos Deck Wins. For Modern, I have a B/G/U/W Draw-go Reanimator featuring my favorite creature, Wurmcoil Engine. For Legacy, I'm trying too hard to break Pyromancer Ascension. I also run a Naya Zoo with all the oldies. For Commander/EDH, I'm running The Mimeoplasm. A little morals thing about me, I like winning through combos, but not infinitely. However quiet, I am a Christian, so feel free to tell me you are too, it's always a relief.

Another boring mechanic...

Friggin' love the card though.

3DH4LIF3

That's a weird thrull.
Card seems meh, but Extort is neat looking. Pay :wb: for each permanant you have with extort for each spell you cast to do some mass lifeleeching.
I like the mechanic. It does feel very Orzhov, and it'll be interesting in multiples. I'm wondering if they'll actually have this on monowhite cards, though. That... wouldn't really make sense.

Easy solution for that: make the mono-white cards combo pieces that take advantage of the lifegain.

That does nothing to explain why a mono-white card is causing direct life-loss.

My monoblack deck would LOVE either a weenie with Extort ala Blood Artist or, better yet, a useful enchantment.

Evolve on monoblue creatures feels weird to. it's more about guild than color here.

Onto card: extort is great for multiplayer. This cardis probably not constructed level (6 mana 4/4 with no evasion, no protection, and noimmediate impact), but in limited and casual it will generate some value. Refreshing cards on attack is good, and lifeleech rider on spells is good.

I still like it overall. Well as much as I like any white/black card (my two least favorite colors, and Orzhov my least favorite guild).

A very good mechanic for multiplayer indeed.
Other then extort mechanic, this card probably good in limited, maybe playable in commander, but I don't think this as constructed  playable
Beware !!!! There are Zombies even in Spaces !!!
That's a weird thrull.

I thought so too, which all in all is a pretty impressive feat.

Also, so tempted to do double Orzhov at the prereleas 2HG now.

Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul: Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay." I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board. Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.

That's what RPJesus tends to do. That's why I don't think he's a real person, but some Magic Card Archive Server sort of machine, that is programmed to react to other posters' comments with obscure cards that do in fact exist, but somehow missed by even the most experienced Magic players. And then come up with strange combos with said cards. All of that is impossible for a normal human to do given the amount of time he does it and how often he does it. He/It got me with Light of Sanction, which prompted me to go to RQ&A to try and find if it was even possible to do combat damage to a creature I control (in light that Mark of Asylum exists).

10/10. Amazing.
I like this mechanic, but not on this card. Paying 6 for a 4/4 that has to attack to do something is already bad, paying 7 to add a little effect doesn't help. I like the recursion effect, thought.

EDIT: Got the mechanic wrong. Thought it only triggered when you cast him. Feels way better now.

Sweet mechanic- chip damage is fun. I hope there are a couple of hybrid extorters though, since I'd like to use it outside decks that need Godless Shrines.

Extortion!
 extort

1. to secure (money, favours, etc.) by intimidation, violence, or the misuse of influence or authority

2. to obtain by importunate demands

3. (Business / Commerce) to overcharge for (something, esp interest on a loan)

Both of Suture Priest's triggers when you have a spare or floating around after casting a spell.

Oh, it's whenever you cast A spell. This just got so much better.

Winner of the YMTC Ravnica War of the Guilds contest as guild Dimir.

Snapcaster Mage is the best card of all time. How do you deal?

So, while I'm hoping against hope that the Dimir mechanic is phenomenal (seeing as half of the revealed mechanics, including this one, have been pretty lackluster), I do need a clarification on the rules for this, for both myself and a friend:

As I read it, with only one Extort card on the field, you can only pay an additional :wbm: to get the life drain. As my buddy reads it, you can just dump your excess :wbm: into the life drain whenever you cast a spell. I'm 99.9% certain that I am correct in my thinking, but I'm hoping someone fluent in rules can provide me with the last 0.1% of surety.
I write a webcomic. That is all.
Way back in the day, (before 6th Edition) I used to have a thrull deck. Depending on what's in Gatecrash, I may want to build a new one. Though I doubt they'll bring back the breeding pits and bad moons that were the core of the deck.

You're correct. Each permanent with extort will only trigger once each time you cast a spell (Well, we haven't seen the rules text for extort, but that's how it will work unless the reminder text is straight-up lying to us).

I thank you sir, for giving me my 0.1% surety.

Now if only we get some sort of indication in the coming weeks that Extort is Constructed playable. Not saying that it has to be, but WB Tokens was my favorite deck at FNM until everyone started packing Ratchet Bomb, and I'd like to see cards to make it more viable again.

Decent mechanic, I don't hate it. But yeah, wouldn't make much sense on monowhite.

What I'm happy about is that it's the first Gatecrash non-creature/combat dependent mechanic, let's hope Dimir's will be too.

I like Extort, but it seems like a waste to tie it in so thoroughly with . Assuming it's not "pay a mana of a color in this card's mana cost" (which would make the reminder text badly templated), it's been inextricably linked to Orzhov, so there's not really any chance of seeing it again.

Extort would be rather interesting with Paincast. If you can afford to cast two spells in one turn, every extra you spend on the first makes the second cheaper.

I hope all this helps you to see things in a greater light—and understand that Magic: the Gathering was really created by extraterrestials using Richard Garfield as a medium. The game itself reflects the socio-psycho realtivity between living beings, and the science that takes precedence over them—to define reality for them all (like telekinesis, weather, scientific reaction, phenomenon, ingenuity, how the brain works, etc.). I'd also bet there is an entity floating thousands of miles above us, looking down on the current state of game, shaking its fist like... "Wtf are you doing?! You're getting it all screwed up!". Awkward—to be evolved, and yet still subject to the ladder that is the concepts of the game. In this case, misconception, corruption, and deception. With the realities of each color becoming distorted (through oblivious designers), leading the game to reflect a false state of reality that warps the understanding that other people have about those things. For example, people thinking that white could be anything except pure good. This shouldn't be too far off though, I mean...Magic is designed based on reality after all, so that entity (those entities) should be subject to those things. Anyways, I guess when you're busy doing space stuff you can't always be around to ensure quality control. It's no wonder they choose Garfield, they're so much alike; that's exactly what happened to him and Magic.

That's a little depressing.  Maybe they'll surprise us by bringing it back in another block featuring hybrid; alternatively, new cards featuring it in Commander or Planechase decks.  But those are both stretches as well, since people will be looking forward to older mechanics that we haven't seen in much longer.  BUYBACK, anybody?

I like this mechanic, especially now that I've seen that it triggers on each opponent and not just one (Perfect for my Ghost Council EDH deck!)

I don't think I like this card, though. Seems sort of lame compared to Sun Titan.

Saying something "Seems lame compared to a titen" is p.unfair.
Also, you can only run one titan in EDH. Here is titan #2 and this one is on theme for your ghost council deck.
So this is the mechanic, isn't it?
Exort will always be "Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay . If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life."?
Little bit... straightforward.
Not more synergy with Haunt than with any other spell. (was the same with Hellbend/Unleash though)

This thrull is best described with "expensive and slow" - something even the artwork portrays suprisingly well.
Don't like it much honestly.
