How would you do it and why would it make sense mechanically?
What monster would you reskin and what race/class combos are best suited for the job?

What would work as his reindeer and elves?  Depending on if he is a reskinned monster or character, does he have minions, a familiar or an adventuring group?

Have fun, and GOD JUL(norwegian for happy/merry christmas)
Obligatory: Bag of holding. (Or superior item, depending on level.)

Honestly, I'd suggest making him an Assassin. Because who is better at sneaking into houses? Who else sees you when you're sleeping? Who else is in the business of knowing when you're awake?
Gunmage, a homebrew arcane striker. (Heroic Tier playtest ready.) GDocs link. (More up to date.)
Odin.
That's where most of the Santa Lore comes from anyway.

Santa would be some sort of Fey creature, or under geas. Maybe a Paladin with classic detect-evil or a mage with scrying crystal, multiclassed into one of the stealth classes (thief/rogue or assassin).

The reindeer & sleigh function as a mount, with a fly speed of 100 billion (hey, he has to geteverywhere in the world in a single night) and a teleport/planar portal spell. The nine of them function as a swarm mount thanks to the lead deer's enchanted nose leadership skills. The bloodied swarm becomes 9 individual monsters.

Resist 15 cold or endure elements
fastidiousness (have to clear the coal dust)
alter size (to fit down chimneys)

Overland flight, of course. It would be hard to fight when moving at such a high speed.

Now, how would we handle his elf minions...?

...and one web search later, and I'm somehow still surprised at what you can find on the internet. Why make Santa a villain, when he already has an evil bro?

One can go a bit more...uh, traditional...and use Krampus!
4e D&D is not a "Tabletop MMO." It is not Massively Multiplayer, and is usually not played Online. Come up with better descriptions of your complaints, cuz this one means jack ****.

Also, a 3.5 version of Santa (Nicholas the Gift-Giver) is available from WotC here.

fwiw: Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather" (in both book and DVD form) does an excellent job of comparing Santa's ride to the wild hunt.
