Worldspine Worm

I'd like to make a deck with Worldspine Wurm and other large creatures in it.  I'm curious what other kinds of cards I should add besides ramp. I have Somberwald Sage and Arbor Elf along with Druids' Repository.  The big guys I have are a Worldspine Wurm an Elderscale Wurm and a Primordial Hydra.  I'm curious what else you guys might put in a deck like this.  I really like Green and big monsters.  That's all I'm really looking for.  And if it isn't standard legal I'd prefer it to be rather cheap.  Under $50 would be great under $20 would be awesome.  So if anyone has any ideas for a large green deck that'd be great.  I know most people prefer to put creatures like that in their graveyard then return them to the battlefield, but i'm not really into that.  Feel free to use multiple colors, I just want big monsters like the worldspine worm.
I haven't checked the prices on these cards but here are some options

omnath, locus of mana
oath of druids
tooth and nail
natural order
emrakul, the aeons torn
gauntlet of power
mana flare
mana reflection
fertilid and a +1+1 counter theme
overgrowth with arbor elf
priest of titania + elves

There is a quick list of a few ramp strategies and/or creatures that you can ramp into.
Don't be too smart to have fun
Just some thoughts,

Sixteen spots left to fill here. I'd play at least some Harmonize to help you recover after being hit by Supreme Verdict or other board wipes. Steely Resolve can protect your manabase against spot removal. Elves is fastest, but also the most fragile. An alternative is playing Cloudpost and friends in your landbase, but 't weakens the Arbor Elves. But you'll have to play at least 10 fatties in addition to the Harmonizes. Pelakka Wurm is one snake you might want to consider also .

I'd go for a combo type approach.

Hypergenesis, with about 10 cascade cards, and about 14 to 18 fatties could be a good start.
Here's a thread I made with all the deets.

When you cascade into a Hypergenesis, it resolves straight away.  And it's a really fun card in Multiplayer.
MorticianJohn already mentioned this, but Worldspine Wurm loves Natural Order. You can Natural Order something tiny in order to find him, and then later on your can Natural Order, saccing it (in order to make 3 5/5 tokens), and finding it again, going from 15 points of power to 30 off of a single card.

If you go the Natural Order approach, then Eternal Witness acts as her usual sexy self, giving you both a creature to sac, and a way to get multiple uses out of a single NO.
I'm all about super-control in MTG. If you're able to stop my shenanigans, then there aren't enough shenanigans. Lv 1 Judge Current Decklists Sweeping Beauty (Casual) A Vision of Clones (Casual) Coming soon... more decks! :-O
I've been looking at worldspine wurm and I have a question about it. if you sac it to another card do you still get the tokens? If so it would be insane running a playset with Feed the pack.
I would say yes because it does not specify how it dies. So if you sacrifice it or it just dies in combat, you are going to get your tokens.

You are both rational and emotional. You value creation and discovery, and feel strongly about what I create. At best, you're innovative and intuitive. At worst, you're scattered and unpredictable.
That's awesome. With the pack not only would you get 3 5/5 Trampling Wurms, but also 30 Power in wolves. Plus he keeps coming back.

Since you're already in the Onslught block with Resolves why I'd go with Elvish Guidance Instead of overgrowth just to crank up the mana even more.
use Proteus Staff with token generators like Nuisance Engine, Vitu-Ghazi, the City Tree, Raise the Alarm, Springjack Pasture and Spawning Pit.

Just make sure Worldspine Wurm and maybe some other humungous things are the only creatures in your deck.  Maybe even just run cards like the wurm and Darksteel Colossus or Progenitus and a discard outlet so you can just discard them if you draw them, something like Compulsive Research or Thirst for Knowledge.

Then you just staff a token and get the first creature that pops up.  You could even run a couple copies of Polymorph as extra staffs, or instead of them, and some Fabricate to find it for you

maybe also run a sacrifice outlet so you can sack your big guys out from under things like Oblivion ring that would otherwise ruin your day.  Spawning Pit and Miren, the Moaning Well are some of my favorites.  Miren would be hilarious with the wurm or a colossus too haha
I like using the dual lands from RTR and Farseek to go find them.  It still gets me a forest even though the card never states forest.  I also like using Ranger's Path.  Those 2 with a Gilded Lotus and Arbor Elf is plenty of ramp. Plus with the dual lands and lotus I can now play any color I want.  I have somewhat of a deck thrown together, but I have nothing to protect against any type of removal.  I'm trying to keep it standard legal as I have most of the cards from those sets.  Detain is problem.  Any kind of o-ring is a problem.  Burning isn't really too much of a problem because most people can't burn 6 or 7 toughness very easily in standard.  Sacrificing creatures is also a problem.  Any ideas?
there's no easy sollution to control for green.  Generally the only way to combat control is to fight fire with fire and run blue or white yourself for couterspels/shroud/whatever.  You could also run black and use some discard like Duress to get rid of their removal/detain stuff before they play it.  Of course, with Worldspine Wurm, he goes into your library and you get 3 tokens, so why do you care if he dies?  You could even run some populate cards to copy the big ass tokens you get from the wurm.

Now that I think about it, you could simply make it so your creatures dying just isn't a big deal.  Run black and some graveyard recursion, and some Altar's Reap to draw some cards.  Run some other sacrifice outlets that would fit in the deck, Scars of Mirrodin block has a bunch I'm sure, and some nice creatures for those sack outlets to eat (WorldSpine Wurm being the ideal).  That way when they detain your guys or try to O-Ring them, you just sack your dudes out from under it in response and removal is kinda doing you a favor ;)

idk how viable a strategy like that is in the current standard, but I would think with Scars block and Golgari in RtR you should be able to pull it off.
The Druid creature you posted is the only good one, the others aren't effective enough.

Heartbeat of Spring is cheap and efficient mana amp. Vernal Bloom is a classic though.

Same goes for Dramatic Entrance // Summoner's Pact.

Nice to go green blue with that because you can copy Worldspine via Phantasmal Image // Renegade Doppelganger.

Even that last one, Worldspine, and Flash is a killer combo.

The problem is with cards such as o-ring and the like.  Not so much murder.

I like the idea.  But Scars of mirrodin block is no longer legal.
why does it have to be standard again?  Most card shops should have Scars of Mirrodin books, it only just rotated after all.

anyways, I don't know any good sack outlets in current standard other than Altar's Reap, but you can search Gatherer for cards that will suit your needs pretty easily, just make sure the filter is set to "standard"

but honestly, you're not going to be competing with a Woldspine Wurm deck, so just have fun with it and use whatever cards you want.  There are better sack outlets and control/countercontrol options in older sets, like Spawning Pit or Miren, the Moaning Well
No one has mentioned running through the breach? Really? I'd love to breach the wurm, smack for 15, then be left with 15 power on the board...what...turn 3 at the earliest? So nasty
I have a couple in a standard deck that uses Mindshrieker and Gilded Lotus. It might take a moment to get it, but holy crap is it strong.
