Not sure what I could have done differently. Started well in Red, and Red was clearly open, giving me 2 Explosive Impacts and 2 Annhilating Fires fairly late, but Rakdos wasn't flowing, and Izzet being Izzet was fairly weak. In the end built a controllish Izzet deck splashing Black which felt decent (probably could have gone 2-1 if not for an encounter with a deck that played a turn 4 Vraska every game in 3 games).

Was there a different way I could have taken the draft?
Haven't gone through the whole draft yet, but there was a pickthat I think hampered the draft. Pick 3 pack 1.  Arrest is, objectively, the best card in the pack.  However, because of the way the guilds play out in RTR, you are either committing early on to Izzet splash Azorius, or you are abandoning your first two picks.  If you stick with the Izzet/Azorius build, then pick 2 (and subsequently 3) of pack two makes no sense in your draft.  I think picking the Arrest lost you flexibility.  Unlike something like M13, colors are less friendly to non-guild builds.  While Arrest is an objectively great card, because Boros is not available yet, it is a stretch to take it and waste a pick on a color that locks you into three guilds when you don't know you are going to be in those three given your first two picks are red.  Sometimes, taking a safer but more flexible pick such as Lobber Crew (in love with this card) or a second Chainwalker is better than reaching and forcing a mindset you didn't end up using anyway.

Those who fear the darkness have never seen what the light can do.

I've seen angels fall from blinding heights. But you yourself are nothing so divine. Just next in line.

All I'm saying is, I don't really see how she goes around petrifying swords and boots and especially mirrors. How the heck does she beat a Panoptic Mirror? It makes no sense for artifacts either. Or enchantments, for that matter. "Well, you see, Jimmy cast this spell to flood the mountain, but then the gorgon just looked at the water really hard and it went away."

This is the first thing I noticed too.

To put it another way, you picked "Arrest" because it's good. But you could've ended up with "Bloodyfray Giant, Gorehouse Chainwalker, Gorehouse Chainwalker," which leaves you open to go full-on Rakdos with a great base, or go Izzet later on.  (Same can be said for Crew too.)

Doorkeeper over Inspiration was a mistake.

Things get weird pack 2. Explosive Impact over Rogue's Passage? No. The Rakdos Guildmage when you have no black over Lobber Crew? So you went Izzet with a splash for W, then switched to Rakdos? Skyline Predator was the wrong pick, etc.

Seems like you should've dedicated yourself to Rakdos in the beginning. It looks like you know how good the cards are, like Arrest and Frostburn weird, but you're letting them sway you too much into guilds, and thus switching guilds and not getting consistent colors/cards. Then it just deteriorates as you draft bc you're being pulled in too many directions. Pack 3--void wielder over Detention SPhere or the Rakdos Keyrune isn't a good choice. Pick 2 -- Auger Spree is better than Ann Fire. Paralyzing Grasp is better than Thoughtlfare... it just goes on from there.

I found Carmen Sandiego before you were born unless you're Zlehtnoba.

I agree with what Tymestalker has said.  Here's some more comments:

P1P6:  Cobblebrute is a bad card.  There are some many 2/x creatures and first strikers in the format that it will never do anything.  Runewing (you're already starting to go Izzet) or Tenement Crasher (big haster wins games occasionally) would be have been many times better.

P1P8:  I'd consider taking mana fixing here.  You're still not sure if you're 100% aggro yet, so having an Izzet gate or the 5-color land would be good.  The pick isn't that bad, but something I wouldn't have taken.

P1P9:  Again, not necessarily a poor pick, but Inspiration can be very good.  It'd be a great way to re-fill if you're aggro or out draw your opponent if you're not.  Doorkeeper doesn't seem to go with the plan right now.

P2P2:  Not sure you're exactly going to be Grixis here.  You've seen no fixing and very little black so far.  While very powerful, the guild mages usually can't be splashed.  I'd probably have taken Lobber Crew (the card is insane).  To be fair, after the next few picks, you're definitely Grixis, so in hindset the pick is liekly correct.

P2P11:  That guy is terrible.  The Racketeer is at least playable.

P3P1:  Tough call here, but I'd probably gone with the Keyrune.  It fixes you for what you want, and it's the best to activate.  Voidwielder is very good too though.

P3P5:  Hard to argue against removal, but I don't think this is a Launch Party deck.  The Staticaster makes blocking absolutely impossible with a Rakdos guildmage, and you're mostly Izzet making it easier to play.
P1P1--I agree. I'd have done the same.
P1P2--Same
P1P3--Arrest is tempting, but I like to stay on color/guild, Gore-house is my pick.
P1P4--Boros wants arrester. you can grab an impact later.
P1P5--Same
P1P6--Cobblebrute falls behind: I'd take goblin rally, but runewing and crasher are okay.
P1P7--Goblin rally again. So I agree
P1P8--Toss-up between arrester and intinct. they're very close.
P1P9--toss-up between doorkeeper and inspiration.
P1P10--Agree
--Skipping late picks
P2P1--with one impact already, I'd take passage. This pack is weak overall
P2P2--Five colors, no fixing yet? that's very risky, I'd take soul tithe or the 1/3 flier.
P2P3--If you're running four or five colors and have a doorkeeper, Axebane guardian is the card to have. Five-color defender deck wins is possible
P2P4--I agree. Fixing is what you need.
P2P5--I agree
P2P6--I'd have taken flight.
P2P7--Going for doorkeeper deck now is understandable, but I'd have taken salvage.
P2P8--Removal is good.
P2P9--Raredraft? Five color decks aren't known for speed.
P2P10--I agree
--skip
P3P1--No. Keyrune or detention sphere. Fixing or solid removal
P3P2--RR in five? not good, go for the gate or removal.
P3P3--Teleportal.
P3P4--Keyrune
P3P5-- I agree
P3P6-- I agree
P3P7--The removal is better, pick the grasp.
P3P8--I can't say
P3P9-- Inspiration and Rubbleback Rhino are better
P3P10--Gate.

Occassionally when catering, I've been put the task of arranging Fruit and Cheese or Grilled Vegetable platters. More than once a high class buffet has started with the mark of Phyrexia upon it. Since i've got a good eye for color so it looks great to people who don't get the "joke" (it's a niceley divided circle after all: the outline gives you 4-6 "regions" to work with), this has actually got me put on platter design more often, resulting in Phyrexia's presence at more private and industry events.
I have 6917 Planeswalker points, that's probably more than you. [c=Hero's Resolve]"Destiny, chance, fate, fortune, mana screw; they're all just ways of claiming your successes without claiming your failures." Gerrard of the Weatherlight[/c]
Lots of very thoughtful comments. Thanks very much - exactly the sort of feedback and insights I like and keep returning to the forums for.
I have to agree with Tymestalker as well. I love Lobber Crew and you could have had three! I also agree that Rogue's Passage was the correct pick and would have been great for what you had going. Not picking the "best" card is sometimes hard. But once you commit to a strategy, and I thought Rakdos-esque was where you were heading, then you have to pick the card that reinforces your strategy the best. Thanks for posting and good luck.
This thread wasn't helpful to me since it wasn't a 3-0 deck thread
