Palisade Giant and Spiteful Shadows

Here's the situation a few others and I were trying to disprove earlier today:

A player controls an indestructible Palisade Giant that is enchanted by Spiteful Shadows.

Object deals X damage to Palisade Giant.
Spiteful Shadows triggers and Palisade Giant assigns X damage to it's controller.
X damage is redirected from that player to Palisade Giant.
Palisade Giant deals X damage to Palisade Giant.
Spiteful Shadows triggers and Palisade Giant assigns X damage to it's controller, again.

Assuming it's not interrupted there's nothing I know of that prevents this from happening. Seems like something like this wouldn't be made so close together that everything you need is legal in Standard.

yepp, that's a loop
the game will end in a draw, since the trigger is not optional

So a deck can be made around this with the intent of forcing draws as often as possible or adding lifelink and letting it damage it's way to ridiculous life gain and then stopping it?

sure
it will be too slow to be competitive, but it could be done

May be slow but the fact that it's possible at all is strange.

One would think that since the damage is already done before Spiteful Shadows tries to deal any damage to a player that state based actions would move the giant to the graveyard for having lethal damage before it "goes infinite".
it's been made indestructible
