Raptor over Recluse?
Preparing for the M14 Prerelease - New article up! IN THE TANK - my very own blog for rambling about Magic!
Sure, I am happy with Raptor and trying to force Ally's.
Well, our rare is underwhelming and all 3 uncommons suck.  Out of the commons I like Territorial Baloth, Oran-Rief Recluse, and Umara Raptor.  I agree that the Raptor is the pick here.
REMEMBER FLUFFY, mercilessly slain by the bastard Useless Mancer
Fluffy, the cute and cuddly baloth beatstick of marshmellowy fluffyness and lolz, om-nom-noming Keeper's wicked soul; its insane, deadly amount of cuteness rips the fabric of reality to shreds, its pink, soft, round teeth dripping with honey, every breath spreading the repugnant smell of fresh flowers, this horrifying creature of destruction devastates Keeper by spreading its deadly, all-powerful fluff over the countryside, laying waste to dragon and furry bunny alike. It comes howling out of the east, an endless rattling and gnashing of teeth, a twisted grinding pull on the very fabric of reality threatening to consume body and mind alike in an endless glimmering pink torrent. Nothing is more terrible than the sun glittering on its teeth, save perhaps the light glancing off the oily tones of the sequins that cover its hotpants. Of course, there was that child who tried to eat Fluffy, mistaking him for a giant, walking piece of cotton candy. That child... is now the almighty leader of Fluffy, controlling his every move, sending him to devour the people that cross his path. And Keeper. Because we said so. Nothing can stop Fluffy's march to victory, spreading the sweet smell of strawberries where ever it lays its mighty paw. Followed by many jolly fairies singing joyful songs about Fluffy's cuddlyness, the baloth wanders the mountains of Zendikarland on a quest to share the love with Keeper, tough love that is...
Fluffy, we'll miss you friend. We'll miss you...

As my companion said that, a gigantic, 20 meters tall eldrazi slithered by. It's an Ox. In a PILLARFIELD. That's like, a field of frickin' PILLARS, but to this Ox it just looks like an ordinary field of grass - because he is so BADASS.

Finally, Master Yumyums just had probably the most boring, worthless card in the entire contest. Why would you need to give creatures -1/-0 on your turn? To beat them down with your nonflying blue aggro deck that plays a bad win condition card to win (and if you are playing the critters, why aren't you winning with them?!)? And the win condition itself is so mindblowingly difficult it seems like it was only made simply to fit the criteria.
Derivative Radial Tangent Calculation of Pure, Absolute, Utmost, Uncontestable and Utter Doom Newton's Second Law of Equations As an additional calculation to add to ~, reveal a Mathematical Equation from your hand, with a converted mana casting cost equal to a Prime Number. (Prime numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 13, 17...) ~ costs ƒ(x) = Σπ(δƒ(u)-ƒ(x)) if you're a fan of René Descartes in Facebook. ~ deals X damage to each creature your opponents control within a radius of X KM from ~, where X is the revealed Equation's converted mana cost. ~ deals Y damages to target player, where Y is the area of the Sphere (using the first 50 digits of pi as pi). ~ deals Z less damage, where Z is the distance in Lightyears from the centerpoint of the Sphere. Add up X, Y and Z and round it up to the closest number. Multiply the damage ~ would deal by m, where m is the number of multiples of that number. Calculate the first 50 Fibonaci numbers: Deal the difference between the 25-50th numbers, and the first 25 numbers. As long as the angular acceleration of an object t approaches maximum velocity relative to the cross product of a vector n and its bisector as the object passes through point Q at vector n's convergence in zero gravity, Disastrous Radial Tangent Calculation can't be countered. As long as you can do a geometric proof of anything on this card, target opponent must be doing one. Otherwise, he or she loses the game. (both games. you just lost the game.)
Raptor
You don't get allies in pack three, but at worst it's a Wind Drake. It might surprise you, but I've actually drafted this weird format many times online. It isn't exactly the best, but it is certainly interesting. I'm still unsure if there's a color you want to be forcing, but the great thing about is that it has a consistant strategy across all three packs. One problem with is that Venerated Teacher and Champion's Drake in pack three are pretty awful. One thing I like about Umara Raptor though is that it doesn't get shut down by Rise plays like Wrap in Flames or Ondu Giant that a lot of Zendikar and Worldwake cards are bad to. The second pick here would probably be Oran-Rief Recluse. I'd respect Territorial Baloth though to with the Rise support.
Full art swamp. If we get lucky and draft 15 of them it'll pay for our draft entry.
I'll agree with the raptor
wait we're drafting over the Eldrazi line? I mean, Raptor is still the pick here because there's nothing else better than a 6-mana plummet, but hell if I'm forcing allies without a pack.

We're not forcing allies, we're just picking the best card. Evasion is going to be really good and we have a bit more time than if it were ZZW or ZEN, I think.

Comments on the rest of the pack.

Jwar Isle Refuge / Akoum Refuge: Fixing is fixing.
Quest for Pure Flame: I have no clue how this card works in Zen/Wwk/RoE. My guess is "bad".
Spidersilk Net: Pretty mediocre with the other two sets involved.
Joraga Bard: Bad in the format.
Goblin Shortcutter: It's alright.
Nimana Sell-Sword: Too slow, never gets big enough.
Scythe Tiger: Bad.
Shieldmate's Blessing: Harder to make use of in the slower format. I don't think it's good.
Bladetusk Boar: Very solid. In the slower format this guy is a great clock. Gets blocked by Spawn tokens, but that is a minor issue.
Soul Stair Expedition: Too bad of a late draw. The other black Quest goes very well with Spawns though.
Blood Seeker: Actually pretty solid with stuff like Nest Invader running around. If you get it out early, it will do some damage.

Edit: I accidentally bombed this post trying to quote it, accidentally edited it.  Fk.

Nah, Bladetusk or Shortcutter. We're not going to get a consistant enough aggro deck with Rise in the mix and there will be drones to chump...

I don't either. I just like my equipment to not cost a card in order to grant a bonus.
Preparing for the M14 Prerelease - New article up! IN THE TANK - my very own blog for rambling about Magic!

A consistent buff you can expect from a equipment card is +1/+1, and that's actually pretty damn good. Conditional +2/+2 is really sweet. Consider the fact that over 40% of your deck is land, and also the fact that you'll probably have lands already in your hand when the Gear drops. This means the Gear will probably be effective at least half of the time. It doesn't cost a card, Landfall is not "discard a land", it's "play a land". And we might even get a Ruin Ghost, which makes the card super sweet.

I have photographic evidence of the strength of Adventuring Gear.

Gear
Boar.  I <3 Intimidate.
I'm not quite sure where we are going so I will take the Khalni Heart Expedition for mana fixing landfall.
I'll actually go with Arrow Volley Trap
hard pick for me.

Arrow Volley Trap is *great* removal, but a bit costly, a bit situational, and the trap cost doesn't seem to come out too often.

Quest for the Gravelord is very good, you can get the 5/5 for 1 out decently quickly in most black decks I find.  Also sends good signals as there's little black in the pack.

Territorial Baloth is a solid fattie that interacts with Landfall.

Ondu Cleric is one of the staple allies.

Khalni Heart Expedition is one of the best landfall enablers in the block.

For now I'll go with Arrow Volley Trap as it's still good removal, and removal is removal.  But I'm not 100% on this at all.

It's an Ox. In a PILLARFIELD. That's like, a field of frickin' PILLARS, but to this Ox it just looks like an ordinary field of grass - because he is so BADASS.

hard pick for me.

Helpful analysis, I think.  I'll go a different way, though, and take the Gravelord.
I like the Cleric.
Preparing for the M14 Prerelease - New article up! IN THE TANK - my very own blog for rambling about Magic!
cleric is a third of a cathedral sanctifier for more.

quest is the best card in the pack, but I hate to pass the trap.

120.6. Some effects replace card draws.

I'm actually a huge fan of Arrow Volley Trap, but I don't think it's as good in this twisted format.

Quest for the Gravelord is pretty good, but it's also not generally a card I go into black for. I prefer to have some solid (real) bodies or removal first.

Territorial Baloth is alright, but not really something I want to jump into green for.

Ondu Cleric can be powerful with enough support. But I doubt we can get that support with two packs.

Beast Hunt has pretty bad odds. Definitely not worth going into green for.

Bog Tatters is a powerful sideboard option.

Lethargy Trap is no good. We want to be attacking.

Khalni Heart Expedition is alright fixing and landfall triggers if you get it down early. But it has the Ranger's Path problem of getting you mana later than you need it. Also it might not come down early, and in that case it is just bad.

There are more impressive five drops than Tuktuk Grunts. I would not waste an early pick on it.

Timbermaw Larva is a good aggressive green creature, but I don't think we want that.

Shoal Serpent is pretty cool actually.

I'll go for Quest, I just think it's the best card here. Gets better if your opponent is cracking Spawns.

Bladetusk Boar: Very solid. In the slower format this guy is a great clock. Gets blocked by Spawn tokens, but that is a minor issue.

You're right on just about everything.

Everything except the bit about Bladetusk Boar getting blocked by spawn tokens.

just about

Oh right. Artifacts, not colorless.

I have no idea who voted what, but Sleeping said that it was Quest for the Gravelord, so I'll go with that.

===Current Picks===
Umara Raptor
Adventuring Gear
Quest for the Gravelord

===Pack 1 | Pick 4===
Kazandu Refuge
Frontier Guide
Seascape Aerialist
Soaring Seacliff
Mindless Null
Spidersilk Net
Goblin Shortcutter
Spire Barrage
Zendikar Farguide
Molten Ravager
Kabira Crossroads
Plains

kinda bad pack I think.  I don't think I've ever gotten to play Seascape Aerialist but it looks good enough to me.  Maybe Shortcutter or Refuge would be a better pick idk.

Aerialist seems bad in this format. Really, really bad.

Frontier Guide is the pick I think. It fixes, it ramps, it enables landfall. Goblin Shortcutter would probably be my second choice.
Whoa I thought he was a 3/4 offhand.  Crappy memory.

As a 2/3 I want to switch to Shortcutter.  Never liked the Guide.
