Necropolis Regent
Creature – Vampire (M)
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, put that many +1/+1 counters on it.

Seems pretty average I predict a 1$ mythic.

Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul: Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay." I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board. Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.

That's what RPJesus tends to do. That's why I don't think he's a real person, but some Magic Card Archive Server sort of machine, that is programmed to react to other posters' comments with obscure cards that do in fact exist, but somehow missed by even the most experienced Magic players. And then come up with strange combos with said cards. All of that is impossible for a normal human to do given the amount of time he does it and how often he does it. He/It got me with Light of Sanction, which prompted me to go to RQ&A to try and find if it was even possible to do combat damage to a creature I control (in light that Mark of Asylum exists).

Initially yes, Wizards was married to blue. However, about a decade ago they had a nasty divorce, and a few years after that they began courting the attention of Green. Welp, I guess it's that time of spoiler season where for every rare they spoil that makes me happy in my decision to purchase some boxes, they spoil an absolutely boring $1 mythic.

If I'm going to get mythics worth nothing at least let them be fun, like Epic Experiment.  This card is dull and most importantly doesn't feel mythic at all.  I don't really care for it as a finisher either...just feels like win-more.  If you're able to stick this and connect with it in the first place, you probably don't need +1/+1 counters oh her or any other dudes you might have in play.
Synergizes with Innistrad slith vampires... :/
They should at least remove the "to a player" part. Even if it doesn't help much.
I really don't think a vampire deck should play any creature over cc4.
Maybe with an exception for Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, but not this.
Strong ability, but BORING.  Terrible waste of a mythic spot.

Doubling the power of each creature you control each time it connects seems mythic territory to me. Not constructed-worthy, but I approve
I agree that this doesn't exactly feel mythic. It also feels like a left over from Innistrad block.

Someone mentioned how this hoses Unleash creatures. I would say I situationally agree/disagree. If you are going to actively play with the Unleash mechanic in the first place its probably because you feel that not blocking is worth the additional power. If you are using Unleash creatures at all I would say your play style probably won't mind adding some counters. If I had to guess I'd say this card was probably design to work with Unleash creatures to help in a race but it comes down too late to make a difference. Also Cryptborn Horror needs this card. Again, probably comes down to late to make a difference.
Hmmmm, 6/5 flyer in a relevent tribe, that doubles any of ur creatures p/t when they connect and everyone's like meh? Have we really gotten to that point....sad part is half of u are prob whining about power creep as of lately....have to lmao.

I really like this. Really powerful effect and a 6/5 flyer. seems fun in EDH. Pretty easy 21 commander damage with Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund. I feel like playing this with Primordial Hydra in standard just for kicks.

Cool, I guess. One more black card Rakdos can't use.

It's a decent vampire, but then I noticed it was mythic.  I'm not sure if that is good or bad.  I kind of like that some cards they are toning down to bring power levels under control.  Problem with that is then they print really massively powerful cards in the same set.

I also doubt vampires are going anywhere with all the wrath cards they keep including.  Tribal anything is going to be dead for a while.
Terribly feels like one block too late.

1. Apparently nothing non-planeswalker is mythic because every single mythic card spoiled inevitably gets people complaining it doesn't feel mythic, no matter what it does.

Anyone who's toyed around with unblockable cards has inevitably noticed they don't deal enough damage because they are always underpowered, this fixes that, I mean really, you can have this down turn 5 with a tiny bit of ramp.

while it doesn't affect the board immediately, it still affects the board the turn it comes into play, I think it's pretty neat.

it ends the game in 2 turns itself if you were able to get even 2 through.

absolutely nasty with rancor
If you want to play with unblockables like rogues and stuff, whitesplash for Mirror Entity is most likely the better and quicker finisher imho.
Works with every tribal, too.

A new bomb for my Vampires deck? I think so!

Just a quick note on the MMORPG as an insult comparison... MMORPGs, raking in money by the dumptruck full. Many options, tons of fans across many audiences, massive resources allocated to development. TTRPGs, dying product. Squeaking out an existence that relys on low cost. Fans fit primarily into a few small demographics. R&D budgets small, often rushed to market and patched after deployment. You're not really making much of an argument when you compare something to a MMORPG and assume people think that means bad. Lets face it, they make the money, have the audience and the budget. We here on this board are fans of TTRPGs but lets not try to pretend none of us play MMORPGs.

I like this, I like it a lot.

It works very nicely as a finisher in Golgari decks, since we've got Scavenge and the 'other half of doubling season'.

I rather fancy Scavenging +5/+5 onto this guy, doubling him to 22 power, then flinging it at somebody...

With Rakdos Signet returning, this guy costs reasonable amounts and is more stable with Stromkirk Captain and more so than Vampire Nocturnus.

I mean hey, Entomb and Life/Death makes it very good too :P

I don't see how this is a bad mythic. You get value out of it without having to wait for your next turn. And it's a black creature.

This card is meh.
It doesn't work well with rakdos, if your creatures have unleash, you can't use them anymore to block after one attack.

It's interesting how similar this art is to Falkenrath Aristocrat.
Feels like another Innistrad leftover. It'll help out monoblack vampires from M13/Innistrad more than anything that Ravnica will bring us.

This card is meh.

Why on earth would you care about blocking when this thing hits the field (on your side, of course)? If you have dedicated blockers, don't attack. Great. No counters. If you want to end the game ASAP (and you should), swing with everything and watch your board advantage snowball. Works great with RtR Rakdos from what we have seen, anyways. Flying tramplers, hasty bombs. Looks like Rakdos can get a board threat or two out early on, which is exactly what this card needs. Goes great with the guildmage as well, as it deters blockers.
Standard Pauper! (play it on MTGO)

This card is meh.
It doesn't work well with rakdos, if your creatures have unleash, you can't use them anymore to block after one attack.

Rakdos isn't the only guild with the ability to produce Black mana in this set, though. Golgari is all about pumping your guys, and I think this card and Corpsejack Menace could be good friends!
Hurray, a mythic I want that isn't likely to be ridiculously expensive. I dig the art, and it goes well in my vampire deck that I will get around to building one of these days. Maybe. Could be a bit too "win more" but if nothing else I could throw it into some random EDH deck and it might be okay.
Ewww... mythic? I would have really liked it if it was rare.

Of course this is mythic. Among other things, it's pretty much an auto-win in limited. I really like this card and I won't be surprised if it shows up in some standard decks. It doesn't really affect the board immediately, but like Grave Titan, it gives you a better board position even if it's removed.
