This thread is for discussion of this week's Limited Information, which goes live Wednesday morning on magicthegathering.com.
Only one common. For shame.
Only one common. For shame.

What? Previews are almost always of a single card.  This one looks like it will define many of the Limited games it is played in.  It also looks like it might be borderline playable for Constructed?  Or maybe not, I guess 3/4 for just isn't that big these days, even if it is a member of a good tribe.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the design of the plane of Golamo in the Great Designer Search 2!

I don't know if I like this mechanic.  Blocking is good and interactive, and there's precious little of it in many games anyway.  A mechanic that rewards you for foregoing blocking doesn't seem so great. specially since it begets similar racing from the opponent.  If you and I both play Dead Reveler, and I make mine a non-blocker, you might as well do the same because my +1/+1 would outclass your guy on block anyway.

I know it's just one mechanic in a big set, but this harkens to Zendikar-era racing.  Which was appealing at first but ultimately unsatisfying.

If you're on MTGO check out the Free Events via PDCMagic and Gatherling.

Other games you should try:
DC Universe Online - action-based MMO.  Free to play.  Surprisingly well-designed combat and classes.

Planetside 2 - Free to play MMO-meets-FPS and the first shooter I've liked in ages.
Simunomics - Free-to-play economy simulation game.

Only one common. For shame.

There's no reason to defend one common. Steve has been getting more and more cards each preview, last time getting all 5 rings. He deserves more. We deserve more. A common just doesn't generate as much talk as a rare unless it's overpowered.
badly written article about a bad card to preview.
I'd say it's about the best article he could write, given the utterly uninteresting card. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the card will be very playable, and I'm sure a bunch of developers did a bunch of testing to ensure it played an effective role in the limited format. But that's all it is: a role player. It's nothing that gets anyone excited. Even Steve was clearly a lot more excited about Guttersnipe than this thing.
I thought this preview (of a single common) was perfectly fine.
now on the other hand, guttersnipe will surely become part of quite a few decks...
