My return to DMing....trial by fire

This paragon to epic campaign requires that a few things are taken as fact:

1 The Powers that held sway when the demiplane of Ravenloft was in one piece still holds great influence now that it has been dispersed through the Shadowfell.

2 This effect requires constant attention and expenditure of power by the Raven Queen to keep everything in check. (hence the rumors of Her being distracted and not dealing with other issues in the Shadowfell)

3 The Powers can create a physical representation. (not really for combat...more for using "it's" gift for knowing what one desires most )

4 The creation of new dread domains and the "escapes" of residents (NOT lords) of older ones have caused more havoc and enabled much of this plot to unfold.

The Power's long-term plan is to cause a cataclysmic event that will not only bring down several Gods but cast the world into chaos so "it" can pull much of it into various new domains.

Facets of this plan:

The 7: Long ago the life force of 7 primordials was siphoned off and placed into 7 mortals who were kept in a special domain....not aging and steeped in evil. They will be released into the world to do what they will. (this will keeps the PCs busy for a while off and on)

The Raven Queen: Her distractions and expenditures have enabled powerful minions to steal souls to fuel this endeavor. The RQ's death is a huge part of the bargain that will keep the fallen goddess Khala and the other forsaken in line.

Ioun's corruption: A powerful psychic entity called Xakka the Many (plot device) was freed from it's domain and crept unseen into the Hall of Enlightenment at the Swan Tower. Ioun was unprepared and was struck down, her psyche fractured by the brutal mental assault. Ioun is the cornerstone of this plot. (however Ioun's exarch Athearsauriv is growning suspicious)

Ioun has confided in secret to Bane and Asmodeus that Lolith and Zehir are using the PCs for some plan involving the Raven Queen and some powerful entity involved with the elemental chaos and has told Lolith and Zehir the same about Asmodeus and Bane.

Endgame- The Godslayer: The plan to create an entity that can destroy God and Primordial alike is working it's way slowly towards completion......

My brother just ran a campaign eerily similar. Good guys and bad guys alike ended up having to align against the World-ender. We pulled out all our old epic characters and had a free-for-all after the major power died. Those that survived absorbed all that divine power, becoming divinities in the next campaign.
A rogue with a bowl of slop can be a controller. WIZARD PC: Can I substitute Celestial Roc Guano for my fireball spells? DM: Awesome. Yes. When in doubt, take action.... that's generally the best course. Even Sun Tsu knew that, and he didn't have internets.
