hello well im starting to wonder how big is magic in the uk. i have just started playing well not even playing yet dot have a deck and so on

but i have been resurtching it and i have found that there is not much stuff around that is from uk seems to be all usa

i was looking to day at playmats and every site was usa i have a design for my own but as yet found no one in uk that can make it

also events seem very sparss here too shops not relly interested in helping you i asked one guy in a shop about a starter deck he said "read the box"

so im starting to think about this in the way of why spend money on this if no one is playing i mean okthe card are is great so i guess you could just collect

but i was looking forward to mybe compeating at some point.

so is magic dead in the uk or am i just missing something ????? its a shame as this game looks to be rather good
what about Magic Online?
what about Magic Online?

yeah iv lloked at that but the only prob with that is there are no real cards i have the
mtg 2013 game and its good

just not the same as real cards lol
it's cheaper than real cards
and if you ever quit there are enough traders that will buy you out

yeah but i dont know it just seems a shame that in the uk it seems to be dead

one of the BIG things here is warhammer ttg
Use the Event Locator on the main Wizards site - its not as dead here as you might think. Also look for wargames clubs/roleplaying groups, youth centres/libraries/student unions, card shops/comic shops/game shops.

There are plenty of ways to buy stuff online, too (including ebay/US sites, UK sites like Magic Madhouse, and european sites like Twiddles Keep).

Hope that helps

Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch. YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Talk to store owners and TOs and see if there are playgroups you just havent found yet. And if there arent, you can always try to start one.

Where abouts in the UK are you?

west wales closes town is aberystwyth
im not welsh i just live here

yeah i did speak to two shops and both have no idea or interest

There is quite a lot of activity where I am in the UK (Kent), but yeah I think you're always going to have problems out in western Wales, it's pretty sparse out there. Even if you're older age, might be worth seeing if there's any kind of SF&F or gaming society at the university at Aberystwyth - always found that a good source of other players.
Rules Advisor. Used to play a lot of old Extended tournaments, now I just play prereleases and casual kitchen-table games with friends. My regular decks, many of which have been evolving for years: Contested Cliffs Beasts Coastal Piracy Hana Kami Spirit recycling Rout Multiplayer control Seizan, Perverter of Truth Commander

People are always very quick to clariy that they are definitely not Welsh.

Yeah, the UK doesn't really have as much of a game scene as North America. There are clubs and events, but it's not really a closely-knit community. Not a lot of specialist game shops around there. I'm from Essex, but I've been living in Toronto the past year and the game culture is completely different.
I just want to say OP, **** MTGO.

Thank you.

As for magic in the UK, idk but I know it has some following in Europe. I'm in the USA, so it is different.

Haha, I told an American girl I was Welsh once and she said 'Oh, your English is very good!'.  English is my first language and I barely speak a word of Welsh.  Unfortunately I was put off by some bad teachers and gave up after I was 14 and it was no longer compulsory.  I wish that I had learned more when I was younger, but now I don't even live in the UK so I am learning Thai instead.  Another Nationality you may have seen featured on Little Britain, lol.

PS I don't think I have the funny accent you're thinking of, I grew up close to the border.
I tell Americans "oh, but your English is very good" all the time also, it's funny ^^
