Favorite Chromatic Dragon?

What's your favorite chromatic dragon, and why? Mine is white. I've always liked the idea of ice dragons, and as soon as I saw the top-down view of the Ancient White Dragon mini in the PHB1 I was sold. I went out and bought the Icingdeath and Drizz'zt scenario pack, and it's my favorite D&D miniature that I own by far  (And not just because it's big). I do houserule (Is that the right term? More like homebrew) in my games that white dragons are actually the most intelligent chromatic dragons. I associate the far north with long periods of time, especially in fantasy, what with glaciers and ixe floes. It just seemed off to designate them as the most bestial and unintelligent instead of most cunning and patient.

As much as I love the color purple, I'm more a fan of Green Dragons myself. Their ever-scheming nature makes them more of my kind of villains by default.

Blue!

Blue!

Blues are a close second for me, the lightning breath is awesome.

Tiamat - the 1e version.
Tiamat - the 1e version.

What's different from the five-headed version?

I like the Black Dragons, lurkers by nature, sly and aggressive... spitting acid, living in swamps... kind of a more intelligent monster alligator. I lke the looks of their bone ridges.

The scheming Green Dragons are a close second, the subtle threat underneath the master plan. Stalkers and deceivers.
Add a vote to blues.

Awesome, right?

I just see a little x instead of that picture, Olrox.

Tiamat - the 1e version.

What's different from the five-headed version?

She was still 5-headed but was more of a really powerful, unique standard dragon rather than being built as a deity.  Ac0 (AC20 5e) with 128hp.  These days I suppose you'd treat her as an avatar.  She was THE Chromatic Dragon.
Green. I love all of the under handed scheming mentioned in their flavor text.
Tiamat - the 1e version.

So thats where WoW got Chromatus  from.
Definitely the Blue. I have a probably quite unhealthy fascination with storms and lightning, and I quite like the idea of lairing in a sea-cliff cave. Blues are also supposed to be the most reasonable (and least likely to be truly evil) of the chromatics, which makes them more interesting from a storytelling perspective. A close second would be the Red, because I've often felt that the world would be a much better place if I could just incinerate people I didn't get along with, rather than having to put up with their stupid crap.

"My flying carpet is full of elves."

I like red mostly because its my favourite colour, but they more or less embody the "evil chromatic" as well as the classical fire breathing dragon.

Im actually more of a metalic fan, as they seem more unique in fantasy fiction.

Unique, but not alien. I like them too, mainly the gold.

Black, blue then red
I prefer worlds in which a dragon's color defines absolutely nothing else, but within the D&D tropes, I like reds, blues, and silvers.
Seriously, though, you should check out the PbP Haven. You might also like Real Adventures, IF you're cool.
Knights of W.T.F.- Silver Spur Winner
4enclave, a place where 4e fans can talk 4e in peace.
I prefer chatastrophic dragons because I think they came from I neat idea. Also, I like the art. After that, I prefer metallic dragons, especially the gold. It's exactly my idea of what a big, dangerous boss dragon should be. But since the question limits me to chromatic dragons, I'd have to go with blue. Lightning, sea caves, plus I like the color.
Eh, we are past the chromatic-only stage I think. What is a catastrophic dragon, exactly? I've seen refernce to them but never found out what they were. Is the Young Volcanic Dragon miniature from the Lords of Madness set a catastrophic dragon?

Yes. Catastrophic dragons were in the MM3, I believe there were Volcanic, Blizzard, and Earthquake dragons in that book. They're supposed to be based on natural catastrophies and they're uniformly chaotic for the sake of being chaotic.

I'm pretty sure the dragon at the bottom right of this page (if you're using the default theme) is a volcanic dragon.

I'm using the Default and I think it is, you're right.  That is a cool idea, I like blizzard a lot. Would probably use my Icingdeath mini for it.
