Just out of curiosity...

I just wanted to know the age range of the players on here. I was curious as to how many teenagers like me played D&D, compared to adults who do.

I'm 40.  The rest of my regular group is ... another 40 and a 55; and someone else in his 40s, and his teenage son (18 or 19).
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.
Oh wow. That's neat! I'm 16. Have you been playing since the original game was published in 1974?

I'm 21, and my players are 21, 20, 18, 18, and 16.
15, as with the rest of the group I play with.

My current group ranges from 24 to 43. I'm 43.
Here are the PHB essentia, in my opinion:
  • Three Basic Rules (p 11)
  • Power Types and Usage (p 54)
  • Skills (p178-179)
  • Feats (p 192)
  • Rest and Recovery (p 263)
  • All of Chapter 9 [Combat] (p 264-295)
A player needs to read the sections for building his or her character -- race, class, powers, feats, equipment, etc. But those are PC-specific. The above list is for everyone, regardless of the race or class or build or concept they are playing.
52, my group: 11, 15, 17, 2x18,2x19

I'm 42, and my main (weekly) group ranges from 22 to 46 in age range. I have a second (twice a month) group that falls in that age range, and a tertiary (monthly) group that ranges from 12 to 50 (as it includes fathers and sons). Plus, I run an Encounters game at the FLGS. I have players around my age to teenagers (most are 14-16).
My current group ranges from 18 to 37. I'm 36.
I'm 30. The rest of my group are in their early 40s.

30. The rest of my group is too.

Wow. i'm impressed. I guess you never grow out of D&D, do you? Hopefully, i'll be playing as long as the rest of you guys have. :D

14-18 year olds here, i'm 18

Most of my regular group that I had been with for about 10 years or so was 33-42.  It was too tough to keep a schedule everyone could make on a regular basis since most of us have families and some have to travel for work a lot.

The other groups I have been a part of on the VT probably were 20-40 from what I gathered since some were still in college and others were older adults.

I should maybe point out that I've only been playing (well, DMing mostly) regularly since 4e was released. I played in a few sessions of 2e back when I was 13 or so, and tried 3e and 3.5 briefly when they came out, but didn't like any of those editions enough to actually get into the game in any real way.

So, despite my advanced age i've really only been playing/DMing D&D for about 4 years.

"My flying carpet is full of elves."

I'm 43, my buddy is a couple years older and I'm not sure of the others.  Were at least twice the ages of the other two regulars though.  Another fella plays on occassion and I think he's mid-30s.  It's hard to remember ages . . . they change every year ;).

I'm 36, my other adult players are 39 and 40-something.  My older two kids are in our group, as is the 40-something's son, ages 13, 15, and 16.

I started playing at 12 and I introduce my kids to the basic concepts at about 6 and bring them into the regular group at 10.

All around helpful simian

I've been playing for about a year and a half. I'm 27(a month from 28), my girlfriend is 27, we played with another 27 year old, a 24 year old, a 29 year old, and a 32 year old if memory serves.
My group is 16, 18, 21, 24(Me), 29 and 30.  We are all family thats how the group got formed.

I actually rather enjoy being able to look people in their mid-20's in the eye and tell them, sincerely, "I have dice older than you, kid...".

And in case anybody thinks I'm old, my 40th birthday is in two weeks.

I played my first game when I was eight, with the blue-cover Basic set. I started playing seriously at around age 10 with the magenta-cover Basic set, sometime in maybe 1982 I think.

I still own some of the original dice from my first Basic set.

The gaming group at the FLGS is a mixed group - the owner is somewhere in his 60's, there are a handful of guys in their early-to-mid 50's, and a fair number of us that range from late-30's down to about 24 or so.... Part of the higher average age of our crowd is that a sizeable chunk of them are hardcore wargamers, mostly historicals. Since most of the "lifers" (the store's been in business for decades) are wargamers, I've picked up a fairly impressive amount of military history knowledge from hanging out there.

D&D - The Shadow of Death group

A campaign using the "vanilla setting" in the core D&D 4 books, initiated 4 years ago, with the launch of 4th edition. Its current players are:

Ana Beatriz - 18 years old, plays the hafling wizard, Mariam Rivendell. New to D&D and RPGs, first RPG campaign ever.
André - 24 years old, plays the dwarf shaman, Khor Stoneheart. Played D&D in the 3rd edition era but has main experience with Star Wars D20.
Marcus - 23 years old, plays the human barbarian. He's new to this particular campaign, but is an old player of ours, his main experience is with Star Wars D20.
Rafael Pina -26 years old, plays the dragonborn paladin, Torin Firebreather. Experienced player, but never played D&D before, his main experience is with Star Wars D20.
Ulisses - 21 years old, plays the dwarf cleric, Tundur Rockdelver. Experience player and our resident rules lawyer .

Players who had significant impact on the campaign's past but don't currently play it are:

Henrique - 25 years old, played the human damphyr rogue, Strahd Nightstrider. Had a shorter experience playing RPGs than the "20th olders above", and only skimmed at D&D 3.X.
Rodrigo - 35 years old, briefly played the dwarf revenant monk, Khuhaj. Veteran D&D player, his main group is the one below. Tried to play with us on saturdays before the news came about him becoming a father . Kudos for Heitor, his son, and proto-nerd in the making! ^^
Sabrina - 25 years old, my girlfriend, played the tiefling warlock, Kallistea Shadoweaver. Played for about half the campaign, never played D&D before 4th, her main experience was with Star Wars D20. After she changed jobs, she could no longer plays with us on saturdays.

D&D - Dark Sun: In Search of the Last Sea group

A 4th edition campaign set in Dark Sun. Its players are:

Alexandre - 43 years old, currently undecided about his next character. Formerly played a human rogue and a thri-kreen monk, both now bones in the desert. May decide to leave the group, since he thinks I'm being to rough (and injust) in the portrayal of Dark Sun's dangers. Veteran D&D player, has played all editions of D&D.
Daniel - 34 years old, currently plays the human fighter, Zhulttar, formerly played an elf ranger. Is new to RPG altogether, this is his first campaign and tabletop RPG game, although he has been an World of Warcraft and MMO enthusiast for years.
Eduardo - 32 years old, currently plays the elf seeker, Gennal, formerly played a thri-kreen druid. Veteran D&D player and avid fan of the Dragonlance setting, has played all editions of D&D.
Eurico - 40 years old, plays the dray battlemind, Drakkar. Veteran D&D player, has played all editions of D&D.
Rodrigo - 35 years old, plays the dwarf shaman, Garnak. Veteran D&D player, has played all editions of D&D.

I think that sums it all up very nicely :D.
Are you threatening me master jedi? Dungeons & Dragons 4e Classic - The Dark Edition
I will be 50 later this year.  My group has one player older than I, and the rest are in their mid 30s to mid 40s.
I'm 25, and I've played with people from 10 years old to in their early 60's.

i'm very amazed at the ages here. Most of you are in your 20s or older (no offense :D). i'm starting to wonder if me and CorranHornIsAwesome are the only teenagers here, though I doubt it. Well, I wish you guys many more years of kicking monster butt.

I'm 44....I'm guessing at my players' ages....but I think it's roughly:  25, 28, 30, 32, and 38.

I started play D&D when I was 11(?...maybe 12).

You're certainly not the only teenagers playing, but most don't seem to stick around these boards.

It's good to see younger players, too, though

Most other  teenagers seem to like something, but not really get involved with it. Me and edwarddarkforest are the obvious exceptions, among others.

20's and 30's in my group.  Maybe I'm a bad DM but I can't really be more specific as to the ages of 11 players.  I barely remember my own age lol.
As a side note when I was first on these forums, before I lost my account and was able to recover it recently, I was 12.
