Duels 2013 Technical problems - please report your issue here

Currently running 64Gb iPad3. App worked fine for a week, now it won't launch. I see the gold dragon screen, it logs me into Game Center, shows a splash screen with the word "Start" on it for a split second, then it shows a splash picture screen with 'loading' in the bottom left corner and then the app crashes. I've tried unloading the app out of memory as well as shutting down and restarting my iPad. Neither one works.
so this one is really bad news. I have been playing mainly offline working on unlocking decks and working through the campaign. i finished the whole normal campaign, and have completed the first planeschase battle. i have been working on the 2nd planeschase battle. all of the sudden when i got on today the 2nd planeschase battle is locked even though it shows me having beat the first one. so i beat the first one again and it is still locked. so i was like ok ill go back to the normal campaign just to unlock more cards and not deal with that issue for now. only to realize that lilliana is missing! not locked ( and shouldnt beat like i said i beat the whole normal campaign) she is actually gone, the circle is there but u cant select the fight, so im pissed off. i dont know what the hell is happening but im really angry. i even preordered this game despite the problems 2012 had online, but this is insane, i have also had problems with selecting who to attack in multiplayer and having cards disappear under the game table during play. this game is terribly buggy and im going to start telling my friends with 2012 not to get it. they probably wont even fix any of the issues just like last game.

I have the same problem, but it's in the Revenge campaign.  Jace won't unlock despite beating Yeva (repeatedly)

I've gotten 2 crashes on the PC version when playing the second Planechaser campain.
Both times were when I was about to win in a few rounds, lousy cheating AI:s ;)

I have a 3rd generation iPad and now have lost my card unlocks and campaign progress twice. The achievements are saved but everything else is gone. I left the app open after the first loss but after a couple days lost everything again. I am logged into gamecenter but everything is still gone. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to prevent this?

Having exact same problem with iPad2.  Tried everything to fix including OS upgrade.
PS3 Version, language: german: missing rules text on [C]Favorable Winds[/C]
Its probably due to some errors while translating but the rules text on this card is incomplete when the language is set to german. It literally just says "flying creatures".

Not that important but would be nice if it would get fixed.

I have the same problem, How does the progress save in ipad3? online or local? Do I have to save the game manually?

Edit: Logging out of and back into game center recovered my unlocks. Might be helpful for others.
Trying to get windowed mode to work. I unchecked the "fullscreen" box but... it's still fullscreen and not draggable. Using windows 7, any ideas?
Platform: PC

Issue: Video card overheats so much that it eventually shuts down the system.

It's a Radeon 4850 so it should run a card game just fine. The overheating does not happen in more graphic intensive games like Skyrim so I'm assuming the game itself is to blame.

get something like radeonpro or d3doverrider and force vsync on for duels, or maybe disable fullscreen so the game is forced to stay at 60 fps.
Sometimes in 2HG, the slots go blank, the game doesnt start, and I have to back out and try again.  Sometimes it happens time after time.

Edit: for the 360.
I've pasted this across from the bugs thread as it's more technical in nature:

Hello,

Few bugs:

1) Stuck at zoomed in view, ave to change view to unstuck it, but then each next time i zoom in and zoom out, same bug so quite irritating, this bug appeared in 2012 too if i can recall myself

2) Ally in two headed giant couldn' do a thing, even change view didn't work, this only happened during the first main phase. So when timer ended, it would go to combat phase for me for like 0.5 seconds, so i couldn't attack, then for 0.5 seconds to 2nd main phase and then 0.5 secs to end phase. Meaning I could just initiate a few cards but after that, couldn't do a thing too. Meaning a wasted round, but more for my ally.
This happened TWICE in one game. Meaning we lost 2 turns.

3) When garruks deck, i played the card that i could choose the creatures fighting, suddenly the game decided to click once on my creature without reason, then i thought i still had to click my first creature, so i selected my creature, BAM both dead.
==> NO i did NOT click it by accident!

4) Game got stuck at 2nd main phase after we clicked continue, we couldn't click continue anymore, then waited for the timer to go by, then it restarted the 2nd main phase but no countdown so... Bug .. major one, game just couldn't continue!

Thx!

Unsure of the rulings for this and didnt see it in the list,

When equipping Curiosity on an opponents creature, if they damage you in any way, combat, indirect (like fromGoblin Fireslinger), you don't draw a card. You should right? Since you control the Enchantment.

Is this because it has to be to an opponent from your perspective, which it isn't? I know it specifys from an opponent, is this why it doesn't work and therefore isnt bugged? Just making sure.

I think I can explain this. DotP has this extremely annoying feature where if you select a defender and then move your mouse over onto the opponent's field, if you do so too fast, your selected creature blocks the very first creature your mouse moved over, without clicking. Perhaps this Fight mechanic does the same thing in DotP? That when you activate an ability to Fight and you move your mouse over a creature too fast, it automatically selects that creature without clicking?
I have dowloaded the ipad app and have no sound whatsoever. I have an iPad 1, 16gb. This is so annoying because I want to buy the full game but will not do so until this issue is resolved. Please help.
I've copied this across from the bug thread:

Haven't seen this reported yet, but:

Steam/PC version, Customized controls, overriding the 'Continue' action to be a button other than 'tab' ... works for some continue actions (like your own turn step ending) but does not work for some continue actions (like the display of combat damage, and response after an opponent's spell).  Those continue actions are still accelerated by the 'tab' key and not by the custom-mapped Continue key.  Also permanently mapped to tab are other combat-related 'advancements' like 'Block', 'Skip Blocking', 'Attack', and 'Skip Attacking'.

As a righty with an injured left arm I wanted to play the game entirely right handed (and without having to mouse-to-the-continue-button-and-click for every continue action)... so I mapped Continue, Pause, and Mana Tapping to the three rightmost keys on my keypad (-, +, enter) to be able to tap with my mousehand thumb.  But when so many of the continue actions still hardbound to the tab key even after you reassigned continue to another key... I can't do this.

Someone else has already reported before that the key mapping doesn't work as expected.
Thanks, in that case I'll add it to my list of confirmed technical problems.

If anyone does notice they have the same problem as anything listed on this thread, please let me know (you can PM me) so I can make a note that it's been confirmed. Thanks!

This has happened to me twice.  Screw this.  I'm not doing this again.  one star rating.
This is just minor but sometimes I noticed that my avatar goes back to the default one and all of my setting are back to default (i.e. sound options, hold priority, etc.) i dont know if this has been mentioned but its quite annoying!
Messing around with game settings, when I turned anti aliasing 8x and the game crashed. Now I cannot start up the game again, as I get a message saying
"fatal error - unknown error".

Any way to change the settings without loading? Ive tried to reinstall but the setting seems to be still in place.

You can try to override the AA setting with the Catalyst Control Center.

Same here. Pathetic quality control there. I've emailed saying I want a refund, and if they don't do it I'll go to Apple.
Ipad version.

Somehow, the loading screen when you open the app crashed continuously after a great amount of time playing. To continue playing, I had to delete the app and download it again. Problem is, now my ratings are all effed up.

The ELO rating on all three counts was resetted (to 1600). However, my ranking in Gamecenter stayed at its previous amount. Even when my ELO rating changes, my ranking stays the same.

I started by deleting my Gamecenter entries for the game, and yet, it persisted. I have no idea how it can. It's pretty annoying, as I had to start a new gamecenter account to get ranked again. Pretty annoyed here. You'd think you could reset your ranking if needed. Nothing will do.

Yeah... Until next game, where it'll be right back. Seriously, there's no way to deal with Rancor in any format. It should be banned, except Gleemax is a lobbyist for the Rancor party, so that'll never happen.
You can't ban rancor, it just returns to your deck.

When talks about banning Jace first started, I was thinking that I would see him banned come June 20th. But as I think more about it, I don't really think that Jace is the problem anymore. Sure his power level leaves very little to the imagination (opening Jace is like opening a refrigerator box with a naked girl on the inside), and sure his price does have a strong impact on what players choose to play (playing Jace is like being intimate with a woman and she doesn't charge you in the morning), but it is not the source of all the problems in Standard.

How do people think saving room to print more abilities on cards is dumbing down the game?

Do you really think, say, Akroma would ever be printed if she said, "Akroma can block by creatures with this ability and cannot be blocked by creatures without this ability.  If a creature without this ability would deal combat damage by Akroma would be destroyed, prevent all combat damage that creature would deal to Akroma this combat.  Attacking does not cause Akroma to tap.  If Akroma is blocked and deals lethal damage, it deals the remainder of its damage to the defending player.  Akroma may attack and use abilities that require tapping in the casting cost the turn it enters the battlefield.  Akroma cannot be damaged, enchanted, equipped, blocked or targeted by black or red sources" rather than her "dumbed down" wording she has?  No freaking way.  Keywording and shorthand allows them to make complicated cards easy to play with, allowing them to be printed in the first place.

1. cast frankie peanuts2. ask opponent "will you concede the game this turn"? if they say yes, you win; if they say no, play a staying power
3. subsequently ask "will you attack this turn"? and "will you cast a spell this turn"? (using a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir for the second question if necessary) to ensure they can't disrupt the combo
4. donate them a platinum angel
5. play a mox lotus and braingeyser them for every card in their library. play an opalescence and donate them a glorious anthem and a blacker lotus, then play enchanted evening. play and activate a mindslaver and then donate them a fastbond and the mox lotus (returning one of the donates to your hand with eternal witness or whatever)
6. during their turn, play every permanent in their hand (playing lands with fastbond) then (as yourself) cast mirrorweave on the blacker lotus, so every permanent becomes a copy of it. proceed to tear up every card they control, and hopefully do it before they notice that they aren't bound by staying power's ability anymore and can concede

True, but the fact that it enables so many ridiculous things is pretty telling. It's like, sure I can use a shotgun as a bludgeoning instrument, but that doesn't make it not a shotgun.

Everyone's life would be easier if players would, instead of coming to the 'net for help with a deck, just netdeck and be done with it. And I'm not talking about some Top 8 lists, for the Casualists, too, can benefit from netdecking. I've netdecked plenty of decks from the Casual Play forums from users such as Mown, Raedien, Floopfoot, and a few others. I snatched straight the heck out of my web browser. Yes, people, your original idea fell victim to a savage netdecker. You have been assimiliated. Suppose I wanted a Zombie deck. Why on earth would I spend time searching Gatherer for a decent list of Zombie cards when Raedien already did it for me? Taking time to be creative or waiting on people on the forums to tell you why your deck sucks or 'go to Casual forums' is a disasterous waste of time (to me).

No, they just spam them with ban requests. That being said, Magic was ruined back in Alpha when they added all that rules and cards [Debutantes avert your eyes]. My friends and I still like playing it the "pure" way (Basically we go into the woods and hit eachother with wiffle bats while shouting made up obscenities. You know, the way Garfield wanted it to be played).

Don't worry about it. Also decks have no color identity. -Starting life total is 20. And voila, now things are balanced.

Call a judge because he's playing an illegal deck with more than 4 of a single card. -Get him/her banned from competitive magic play

The outer layer of the Magic: the Gathering box, the carton, or crust, is fairly thin and light, and contains largely aluminosilcates. Within that lies the middle layer, consisting of the familiar booster pack. Although solid, the booster packs' high temperatures allow them to acutally move around within the booster box. This flow, sometimes called convection, is cited by frustrated box mappers as one of WOTC's most genious uses of thermodynamics since the Ravnica block. No one knows what lies at the core of the booster box, but scientists theorize that it must be especially dense in order to make up for the large amount of fluff distributed amongst the booster packs.

He proceeds to wring his hands and twirl his evil mustache that he grew for twirling purposes as a lightning bolt strikes in the background. Afterwards, he goes to make sure that the good cards are only opened by everyone's friends, and that we all only get to open bad cards. He does this by memorising each booster, than switching them around accordingly. Whenever someone complains about a card, he immediately jumps out from behind a chair to yell "WELL, IT'S NOT FOR YOU!" before merging back into the shadows in order to devise new ways in which he can screw over players, then claim that he has valid reasons for doing so.

I'm only opposed to it because it bears so little relation to how people actually play the game. The example of Miracles is actually a much better one then the Clone example I was trying to use. From the game's perspective, the card can move instantly from face down in the library to revealed in the hand and that's fine for the rules. But in real life, we can't actually do that, so the card spends a good bit of time in locations that are neither where that player's library is nor where that player's hand is. And that's fine for real life. What I don't want is the disconnect to be explicitly codified. Along the lines of
183664.697 A game of Magic as laid out by these rules exists only as a pure Platonic ideal, utterly unrealizable by fallible mortals limited by the confines of physicality and the ravages of evil and sin. 183664.698 The cake is a lie, too.
I know it's true, but I don't want the rules to actually straight-up tell me that.

So how do I just... introduce myself? "Hi, my name is Adam, wanna play magic with me?" Do I go to the counter and talk to the cashier?

Yeah. Talk to the cashier. Tell him/her that you want a Black Lotus, and if they don't have one tell them that the store isn't on par with what you expected.

Reach into your back left pocket. Pull out a deck list that you copied directly from some ChannelFireball top 8 Standard discussion, and ask for all the cards, as is, on that list. Then, ask for some random, probably terrible cards from whatever set is Standard legal. Say it's tech for the upcoming changes in the metagame.

Pull out a deck, and tell some random dude you wanna test (you have to use the term "test" for this to work) for Standard. Make sure that deck contains Kitchen Finks and Alluring Siren. Maybe throw in Nyxathid for good measure.

Finally, before you leave, spill (make it look like an accident) one hundred singleton, random cards onto the floor. Pick them up, put them in a pile, and say "EEE-DEE-AYCH".

I know this sounds dumb at first, but it will work. With the method outlined above, you will draw the attention of players that play older formats by asking for cards that no one on Earth can reasonably afford. You will get the attention of the wanna-be pro, Stomp-n00bz players by pulling out a well known decklist and declare that you have "tech" to make it better. You will get the attention of all the kind, helpful players by seemingly not knowing the most common format by having non-Standard legal cards in a deck that you claim is Standard legal. Finally, you catch all the rest of the Magic players by saying "EEE-DEE-AYCH" (EDH (or Commander)).

And there you have it. You will be talking to more people than you would have wanted to talk to in no time.

Hi guys!
Last night i played online against a dude who was using Talrand, Sky Summoner's Crosswinds
against mine Obedient Dead.
When i used the Nightmare Incursion card he countered me with The Right of Replication card
and the game froze complitely until one of us left it.
After that, the game continued removing our last actions completely like never happened but
the cards we played were discarded.
Also form time to time the HUD dissapears while playing online.
All these good things were happened on XBOX360.

Your thoughts?...";)

Recently I've been having trouble with no being able to enter my speech in chat in online duels, I can type fine but pressing enter doesn't do anything.
On the waiting for players screen, when I go into the chat the highlighting thing stays on things going around if i press the arrows so whenever I press enter it clicks what ever it's on instead of entering the chat so I assuming this is happening in the game too.
This is on PC version.

Oh I just noticed something else whilst trying to figure out if something liek my unlocks were causing it; In my player status it says I ahve 20/25 achievements but there's only 20 achievements currently available and I canalso only see 20 (I assume it same thing as other expansion stuff showing up).

Eye kneed teh speelchequer bach!

1v1 Planechase: Zephyr Maze out, my opponent rolls two blanks but gets the chaos effect anyways. If the game is glitching, well, there you go.

If not, the dude's SN was TETRAHYDROCA420

I have played against other pairs of people online, clearly conversing as friends.

What is the problem?
On my Xbox 360 in 2-headed giant play I had 20+ goblins on the field and clicking on them to attack individually took too long and my attack timed out...in the MTG 2012 the cursor would auto target the next creature but not in 2013.  It makes me wonder if it really was play tested...

I know! So frustrating having to manually select every single creature...
iPad last 2 days the app crashes when starting, I have shutdown and restarted the iPad and nothing works.  I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall
Another report I've been sent:

I started a single player planes walker and the game crashed. Now every time I try to load the game it tries to put me in the single player game and crashes every time. Using iPad 1.

If anyone else experiences this problem, or any other problem that's already been reported, please send me a PM so that I can put it on my "confirmed" list.

Also if anyone can offer any advice or fixes for this or any other issue posted here, please let me know and/or post it on here.

This. Anyone solve this yet?
