OMG click HERE! OMG! How to autocard and use decklist format
--->
For autocarding, write [c][/c] with the name of the card inside it. [c]Island[/c] = Island For linking a card to Gatherer without writting the name of said card for readers, use the autocard brackets together with and equal sign and right the name of the real card. Then put the message you want inside the tags, like you would do with autocarding. Like this: [c=Curse of the Cabal]Captain Never-resolves[/c] = Captain Never-resolves For using the decklist format, follow this: [deck] 4* Terramorphic Expanse 4* Evolving Wilds ... [/deck] It equals:

I like storm crow because I really like crows in real life, as an animal, and the card isn't terribly stupid, but packs a good deal of nostalgia and also a chunck of the game's history. So it's perhaps one of the cards I have most affection to, but not because "lol storm crow is bad hurr hurr durr".

Now, now. 1994 doesn't quite qualify as "ancient".

Oh, it's a brilliant plan. You see, Bolas was travelling through shadowmoor, causing trouble, when he saw a Wickerbough Elder with its stylin' dead scarecrow hat. Now, Bolas being Bolas took the awesome hat and he put it on his head, but even with all his titanic powers of magic he couldn't make it fit. He grabbed some more scarecrows, but then a little kithkin girl asked if he was trying to build a toupee. "BY ALL THE POWERS IN THE MULTIVERSE!" he roared, "I WILL HAVE A HAT WORTHY OF MY GLORY." and so he went through his Dark Lore of Doom (tm) looking for something he could make into a hat that would look as stylish on him as a scarecrow does on a treefolk. He thought about the Phyrexians, but they were covered in goopy oil that would make his nonexistant hair greasy. He Tried out angels for a while but they didn't sit quite right. Then, he looked under "e" (because in the Elder Draconic alphabet, "e" for Eldrazi is right next to "h" for Hat) in his Dark Lore of Doom and saw depictions of the Eldrazi, and all their forms. "THIS SHALL BE MY HAT!" he declared, poking a picture of Emrakul, "AND WITH IT I WILL USHER IN A NEW AGE OF DARKNESS -- ER, I MEAN A NEW AGE OF FASHION!" And so Nicol Bolas masterminded the release of the Eldrazi.

Really? Really? The last couple days have been roughly every perverse fetish imaginable, but it only got "creepy" when speculation on Mother of Runes's mob affiliation came up?

Yeah, really. If my deck was going to cost $1000+, I'd at least make it good.

Absolutely. I used to loose to my buddy's Banding deck for ages, it was then that I found out about Tolaria, and I was finally able win my first game.

It's true that Alpha and Beta didn't contain any cards like Tarmogoyf, Darksteel Colossus, or Platinum Angel. It just contained weak, insignificant cards like Black Lotus, Mox Sapphire, and Time Walk.
Normally it's difficult to pick up on your jokes/sarcasm. But this one's pretty much out there. Good progress. You have moved up to Humanoid. You'll be Human in no time.

So... Musashi much?

But where oh where is the one ring to rule them all??

I don't think any of the rings are very good. Black is the best one, imo. Giving a small blocker regenerate while it's growing to an unkillable monster sounds nice.

I think the rings are cute.  They are weak, but they're very fun.  I remember when I first started playing, cards like this could eventually make a creature too big to do anything about and it would then wreak havoc.  I can see them being relevant in multiplayer, especially the red ring (red sometimes has a dearth of long-term viable cards, depending on the format you're playing).

And I think their applications with multi-colored creatures are super cute, if you decide you want to "break the rings".  I don't think they'll ever be awesome, but I think they look fun.

I think he's underestimating Ring of Xathrid, especially in limited. As far as I can tell there's not a single piece of removal in the set that can effectively stop an X/2+ regenerater. Murder, Day of Judgment, and Searing Spear all fail. Actually, I lied. Pacifism and Oblivion Ring can both deal with the creature, but the 1 mana to move thing means that it doesn't matter. I could see Ring of Xathrid on a Tormented Soul quickly becoming a serious problem for your opponent.

In limited i can see the Green Ring being decent. With Exalted beefing up an attacking creature trample could be quite a relevent ability.
Most importantly, it seems that an uncommon cycle of artifacts that are color specific means the end of the dumbest cycle ever.
I only wish they had flavor text. Something cool could have been to use one sentence that mentioned all of them and split it up among the five. Scince Stf vanished, there don't seem to be any vorthoses anymore...Cry
I think all 5 rings will wreak havoc on the lattest formats when equipped on the right creature.
They empower creatures turn by turn, and give them combat-relevant abilities that can't (and will not) be ignored. They problably won't see much play but they are a huge advantage for little mana.
I also have to agree with gruulsmash, they should have some flavor text.

Glad somebody mentioned this.

This is a fine article for Steve. They don't give him a card not relevant to limited, but they don't toss him a single uncommon, either. I still say he deserves more, but this is way more fair than the preview articles last time. Steve also doesn't make the mistake of talking about irrelevant limited formats (except for Righteous Blow, but I'll let that slide). So overall, really satisfied with this upgrade. Obviously it shows promise, there's actually responses to the thread this time!

I think Thune will have the most limited impact.
Is there a reson these things aren't legendary? I mean flavorfully?

Yes, but on the other hand, this year has brought back bloothirst, ninjutsu, cascade, exalted, colored artifact creatures, devour, and totem armor in one form or another, all before even touching on the return to Ravnica. I think it's safe to say that such a popular mechanic as proliferate won't be gone for long.
I thought this was mtg, not legend of the five rings, lol

Sure. There are multiple rings of these individual lands that are practically the same, so many may own them. You could craft one as well.

I was realy hoping to madness in m13 instead of exalted though....
Screw limited and thoes rings give us something cool for artifacts again instead of jank sideboard fodder rares like torpor orb or or something more failboat that my trade binder is chock full of.

LOL MTG lord of the rings edition, one(exalted) to rule them all(delver).

Heres the thing..The rings give +1  bonuses based on the creatures colors...now if maybe the next set (Return to Ravnica) had many multicolored creatures one could guess these rings could come in handy...hmm.. I hope there's enough Simic in the next set so i can equip them on blue/green things and mess with them like only the simic can.
