This thread is for discussion of this week's Sealed Deck Builder, which goes live Thursday morning on magicthegathering.com.

Trying UR tempo, Smugglers + Fervent Cathars and Raven and Malcontents seems amazing.

I went G/W/R aggro-ish beatdown, with Soul of the Harvest as a late game finisher. There is a slight human subtheme with the Riders.

I considered adding green, but I want to make sure I get my red spells on-curve, and I've got double-white in here.

I basically based my entire deck on the double Nephalia Smuggler, including the green splash for double Howlgeist. That card is amazing, and especially so with Smuggler.

Really liked some of the Black cards, 3 undying creatures + Bloodflow Connoisseur + Blood Artist is gonna be fun. I chose red as second colour when I saw Thatcher Revolt, the synergy with blood artist and the connoisseur is amazing. No good rares, but ehh.

I went Black/Green. I felt Black had a pretty solid low end curve with some interesting creatures like Blood Artist and Bloodflow Connoisseur. Green seemed to make up for the lack of major bombs while also adding to the low end curve with creatures like Wandering Wolf. Considered going and adding white for Defang and Righteous Blow but think I would just stick with B/G as I already have a slightly top heavy curve.

I feel like the synergy between undying, blood artist and bloodflow connoisseur is quite strong, and token generation fits in there nicely as well. Also, Moonlight geist is an ideal target for necrobite, because your opponent won't blink at you holding it back with a bunch of mana as a blocker. Other than that, the main advantage to B/W that I see is the flyer density and the removal, tap, etc. that you can get your hands on.

Since I've been awake for 24h+ now I wouldn't trust myself with being a good sealed builder atm. But here we go:

Gotta love'em humans...

I tried to go with a Red White aggro Human deck

2 Fervent Cathar
1 Holy Justiciar

2 Bladed Bracers
1 Call to Serve
1 Cloudshift

it took a while before i decided on my colors. in the end, i decided that UG had some good early offense (and the best defense is a good offense) with late game hitters. WR had the most human synergy, and i considered it, but if you did not draw the right card quickly that deck would have run out of gass.

i went back and looked, and i must agree that WR has some temoting combos, but i feel like it revolves around three cards. i'm not betting the tournament on three cards. i've seen people draw two or three mythics in two colors, and lose because they never drew those three cards.

I went for the similar deck I built in 2 of my last 4 sealed pool that performs well using pumped up wolves to get damage in with the geists hanging back to block. I would l ove to fit in the vanguard shield and would consider removing Call to Serve depending on how well it performed.

Red white human aggro.
Angels for stalemate busters
Looting for fetching what I need
Haste
Vanguards shield for upping defence on those low toughness creatures in red.
Solid?

Mono Blue Delver in Legacy

Garrin, The Valiant, Noble Cleric of Heironeous

I decided to go RW, and since this was a bit of fun, I went "all in" on the boros aggro strategy, parking archangel in the sideboard.

I really rate Mad Prophet. You don't need more than 4 land to cast everything in your deck and I wouldn't have more than 6-7 land out. The fact that ups the count of 2 power hasty humans to four makes it very difficult for your opponent to judge blocking.

Malicious intent was a difficult call. I justified it by reference to some of the humans becoming redundant to a bigger blocker, or the vigilance granted by bladed bracers (attack, tap).

I would also have built a second more controlly UG deck:

Ugh.  This pool is really shallow.  I tried it a couple different ways, but I couldn't ignore the awesome green creatures.  I thought about playing UR with the 2 Nephalia Smugglers.  While they work well with Mist Raven, Kessig Malcontents, and Fervent Cathar, I felt it was too cute and the deck lacked depth if the synergy got broken up.  White was the color I decided to pair with green since it offered effective fliers with Emancipation Angel, Archangel, and 2 Moonlight Geists.  White also offered a few removal spells.  Also, Bladed Bracers and Call to Serve work well with both Wandering Wolf and Howlgeist.

I went WB, tons of evasion with flying and some decent removal so it seemed like a good choice. And sadly enough Butcher's Ghoul is like the best undying creature in the set

Agressive early creatures, late game big green nasty threats and some mid range flyers for cheap in white. Cloushift to play some tricks, defang and righteous for oppenents threats.
The tough part for me was cutting down to 40 cards.

I went Red/Blue.  I liked the come into play effects from Red creatures and blue having ways to cause the come into play affect, plus the combos were realy abundent.

White I chose not to use because there was more combos with R/U.  White has the better high end creatures though, but I am hoping to kill you before you can get them.  Green was tempting just for the "you can't block me" creatures.

Ended up W/R/g splashing for the howlgeists.  I really REALLY wanted to go W/G but I just didn't feel like there were enough pump spells to warrant the Wandering Wolfs.  So I took red as my second main color b/c it had a couple of "you cannot block" spells to help push damage through.  It really hurt to lose the Soul of the Harvest but GG on a splash color is generally not a good idea.  Maybe I should go back and try G/W/r...

Hm...I think the only reason to keep red is the malcontents.  I think even the "you can't block" cards can go in favor of more of green's heavier creatures.

How does this lead to interactive play? I believe I’m able to play my creature and you have to deal with it is much more interactive than you counter my creature.

Welcome to the boards and to sealed deck building.

You have 17 lands, that's good.  One thing you'll want to change is to add more creatures.  I would try to stick to ~16 creatures (+ or - 1 or 2 depending on how much removal you have).  I wouldn't count Thatcher revolt as a creature card b/c they only stick around for 1 turn.  I would count Commander's Authority as half a creature card b/c although it makes creatures, you need another creature out already in order to cast it.

Your picks look solid, but you just need to prioiritize creatures a little more b/c they're what make most sealed decks work.

Each color has some good cards.  UR looks like it has the most synergy.  It gives good control elements and allows ways to push attackers through.  If that fails, then it can kill the opponent by flickering Malcontents with 12 humans in the deck and 2 other spells that creates more humans.  This may struggle against larger creatures, but that is what the sideboard is for.
