Protection only works while Emrakul is on the battlefield. It can be targeted normally in any other zone. And anyway, Sadistic Sacrament targets the player, not the cards.

Protection normally means the permanent can't have enchantments of that quality attached to it in any form, but Emrakul has protection against colored spells, not permanents, so it can be enchanted using the Sun Titan trick.

Sure, why not. Protection only prevents damage, being targeted, wanting to be attached or wanting to block. All this being valid only when on the field (or if you're the protected player)...

Emrakul is special as he's protected from coloured SPELLS so he can't be targeted by an aura spell but he can be enchanted by it (as an aura on the battlefield is not a spell) such as when an aura is directly put on the battlefield attached to it such as with the white titan's ability...

The Basic rulebook, read it! A lot of basic questions are answered there!

How to autocard :
Type [c]Black Lotus[/c] to get Black Lotus.
Type [c=Black Lotus]The Overpowered One[/c] to get The Overpowered One.

I'm not a judge, but since you haven't gotten an answer yet, I'll do my best to explain.  All cards are cast as spells.  So you can't use something like doom blade to get rid of emrakul since he has protection for colored spells and, at the time of casting doom blade is a black spell.

Protection is an ability.  Permanents, which includes creatures on the battlefield, have abilities.  Cards within a library don't have abilities; so, there is nothing to stop you from using sadistic sacrament to exile emrakul from an opponent's library.

At the time of casting, oblivion ring is a spell.  However, it is a spell that doesn't target anything -- in fact, while on the stack oblivion ring doesn't actually do anything.  It has a triggered ability, noted by "When ...", that triggers when it enters the battlefield.  Emrakul does not have protection from abilities of permanents; so, emrakul is a valid target from oblivion ring.

Auras, like pacifism, target while on the stack.  It doesn't say "target" on the card, but it is implied with card type "aura".  Hence, emrakul cannot be enchated by an aura such as pacifism.

As for using an effect such as, sun titan's, I'm not sure about that one.

EDIT: Dang! I'm a slow typer.
Cards within a library don't have abilities; so, there is nothing to stop you from using sadistic sacrament to exile emrakul from an opponent's library.

Cards in libraries DO have abilities, otherwise Panglacial Wurm wouldn't work. It's just that most static abilities, like protection, only work on the battlefield.

I knew when I typed that someone would prove me wrong.  I should have said most cards do not have abilities while in a library.
they still have abilities in the library

they just usually don't work there

Consider Isperia the Inscrutable.  Even though flying is certainly one of those abilities that only work from the battlefield, cards like Serra Angel still have flying in any other zone, so Isperia's ability can fetch them.

Also, cycling is an ability that only works from the hand, but a Sandbar Merfolk on the battlefield still doesn't get the bonus from Muraganda Petroglyphs.

Abilities don't disappear just because the card they're on is in a zone from which the ability doesn't work.
alright, i think i got it now. thank you very much

That makes no sense to me. If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed? ~ Tim
Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch. YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

I've heard that several times but I've never seen a wizards source on it.

Doug Beyer did briefly discuss it.  The Eldrazi are genderless, so "it" might be more appropriate.  However, the "memory" of Emrakul is a goddess, so at the very least, "he" would be wrong.
