Introduce Yourself! General Discussion Semi-Gritty Reboot

Welcome to the Flavor and Storyline board.

This forum is for the discussion of anything and everything involving flavor. Flavor texts, names, worlds, storylines, books, characters, web-comics, the color pie, authors, fanfiction, and anything else that makes the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering such an awesome place.

These forums are designed to foster an open discussion on flavor. That is, don't feel too restricted in your commentary. If you like something, you're free to talk about that; if you dislike something, share that as well.

We ask that you be courteous to your fellow posters. We also ask that you reframe from making personal attacks against authors and artists while here. There is a long history of Magic fans alienating the authors that appear here and elsewhere on the net by simply bashing them senselessly. This does not rule out constructive criticism, and complaining is almost a professional sport for some of us, of course, but if this forum is filled with hate speech and irrational arguments then there is little hope that anyone new would want to post here. And worse still, there is little hope that anyone from Magic's Creative Team would want to post here, either. So keep it cool, keep it respectful, and try to reserve your flames for the truly deserving.

What can I look forward to in this forum?

You'll find here great discussions on almost anything flavor based.

Furthermore, many of us are involved with the Magic: Expanded Multiverse project, which seeks both to archive and preserve official works of fiction, old and new, and to create a cohesive expanded canon for Magic, filled with art, stories, poems and comics created by the fans, for the fans. You can find the product of our efforts in the slowly expanding archive.

Also we are fortunate to have Brady Dommermuth, Magic's Creative Director post here every so often, and various authors past and present stick their noses in from time to time. Robert Wintermute, Ari Marmell, Laura Resnik, and Pete Venters all have appeared here, and still do from time to time, so keep an eye out for their posts.

In summary, come in, pull up a chair, grab your drink of choice and enjoy the company of your fellow Vorthosi. Vorthoses. Vorthosilim. Flavor lovers, shall we say?

Introduce yourself here, and be welcomed into the community!

(Oh, and don't worry if the thread is two hundred pages long and totally off topic--that's normal. Just introduce yourself anyway.)

(Also, I compromised and declared this a semi-gritty reboot of the old thread. So, people with large weapons and black leather sitting around and talking about their interpersonal problems and anxiety about looming graduation dates, I suppose?)

Always wanted to do that.

And I'm jedi8187. i've been in and out since Onslaught, played off and on since Ice Age.

I'm a regular around here, and on M:EM project. I more of a sideliner I think, but I like to be active.

Uhm hi I'm Terti, started playing around Invasion and quit after the Mirrodin block, but I had collected some of the books then that I only got to reading about half a year ago and the flavour caught on so well that I ended up thinking about the game again, and, sort of ended up here. Strictly Vorthosian for the time being, love green and like its interactions with red and blue, and I love turtles IMAGE(http://www.the-gladiatorz.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/turtle.gif). Nemesis is the best book that I have read.
I think the thing that attracts me most is the worldbuilding, the way in which cultures and philosophies clash in the stories and here on the forums, and the little details more so than the bigger narratives. My strength is the reconstruction of those, my weakness being unable to clearly communicate them. My kryptonite is a red bouncing ball, makes me lose focus. Oh and making up illogical crackpot explanations for everything is just fun to do ^^

This place is also the pinnacle of internet civility and it's the reason I came to love it.

Gritty Reboot Introduction
Sitting in the corner, sipping from a glass of cheap red wine *record scratch. Hold on, this isn't a Tavern anymore. It's a semi-gritty reboot.

Let's start over.

Holding a laptop that crackles with eldritch energy in one hand, and a mundane Heckler & Koch USP in the other hand, he stands overlooking the desolate wastes of the Internet. His badass longcoat (disclaimer, I do not own a longcoat anymore) flapping in the wind, revealing a sky blue shirt and a fancy, black waistcoat.

The look on his face is weary. Tired. Tired from all the meaningless chatter, the uncivilized conversations, the drab of general internet culture. He had traveled far and wide in search of an oasis of civility. And when he finally found it, he decided to defend it. Long had he worked to ingrain himself. Made friend and allies. Probably some enemies too. But during all that, he had ascended. He had become more than he used to be. He was a god now. The incarnation of Reason and Neutrality, he oversaw the F&S-Forum, as it was known, putting out the fires of flamewars, cooling the heated discussions, forever striving to maintain this safe haven in the binary wilderness.

Normal Introduction
And that's how you introduce yourself.

In all seriousness: My name is Yxoque (feel free to shorten it to Yx and never ask questions on how to pronounce it.). I've been a regular here, starting from the Shards of Alara-era. I'm also (half-)active at the Expanded Universe, but I try to be a lot more active there. My main contribution exists in constructively criticizing other people's project, and trying to guide the worldbuilding projects (please do check out Sertaria, I'm pretty proud about that).

Stuff people might want to know about me.

My colors are most likely Blue/Red. For me this means I value knowledge and rationality above everything, but are still guided by my emotions, which can sometimes lead to inner conflict.
On this forum, I particularly enjoy talking about color-theory, worldbuilding and flavor, and care somewhat less about story, although it's very connected to the above.

Other interests include: Videogames, and especially how they can be analyzed and improved, story-telling theory, literature, criminology (my area of study), psychology, internet culture, languages and a lot more. You can generally assume I have at least some interest in whatever topic that comes on.

Lastly, I live in Europe, more specific in a country some people believe I dreamed up in order to escape the reality of the French Sarkozi-regime, namely Belgium. This means I was raised with the art of compromise (seriously, that's like the definitive thing about Belgian culture, we disagree about everything else) and am able to communicate in at least three languages and understand a fourth.

After the official forums lost most of their functionality, a once vibrant community of Vorthos was wiped out.The survivors founded a new place to discuss all things concerning with the art, flavor and storylines of Magic: The Gathering. Come join us.

I am the Gamma-Mage, known also as Gamma.

My name is not, as many people think, a reference to the Alpha and Beta sets. That is a coincidence.

I first spent time in Bant where I fought the hordes of Grixis and Jund. It was there I learnt to wield the power of angels and nature side by side. Despite my inital reluctance to travel to Zendikar, I eventually went to Tazeem where I learnt enchantment-magic and became known as a skilled vampire-slayer. I then retuned home for a while. Until, that is, I heard of a grave injustice being perpertrated on Innistrad.

The misguided pesants were imprisoning the wild wolves of Kessig, thier paranoid minds unable to tell the difference between them and werewolves. And so I joined the Cagebreakers in their noble work of rescuing the wolves.

Now that Avacyn is returned, I look forward to no longer operating in secret, and driving back the forces of darkness alongside the Host of Herons.

Hi, I'm Jim, and I've been lurking nearly every section of the MtG forums for... a while. I don't usually post much... but I... no... I'm sorry, I can't do this. [Walks away nervously.]

IMAGE(http://steamsignature.com/status/default/76561197995631463.png) No longer a commander as of 7/29/13.

Hi I'm Isaic.

I'm a lurker-turned-poster-turned-lurker-turned-poster so many times I think most people here have lost count.  Like Yx (i've always pronounced it Yicks-ock-way myself), I am one of the more neutral members, though I more specialize in pointing out when people have let misunderstandings lead to disagreements.  I haven't made any direct contributions to the M:EM, but I have occasionally tried to edit some people's work.  I also try to be the random humor/levity bringer to this thread as well as the forum games.

@Gritty Reboot: Also, I may or may not be a cyborg, depending on whether they are still cool or not.  And do I have to get killed off dramatically to forshadow the darker and edgier, Shoo Out the Clowns style?

To all newcomers, welcome to the finest community in the whole of the internet.  Make yourselves comfy!

You too, Jim.  Take a seat, put your feet up.  Pull out your overly large gun, 2-dozen pouches and leather jacket.  Everyone in a gritty reboot should have those, right?

I kick down the saloon door. (You're all in a saloon now. But it's like a space saloon or something. Whatever. Apathy is cool.) I'm back. Even though you have no preconcieved notions about my appearence, your preconcieved notions about my appearence are shattered. A wide-brim hat casts a shadow over my face, no matter what angle you look at it from. Across my back is strapped not one gun, not two guns, but an entire gunrack. My boots conceal a dozen knives each, and the rest of my body is entirely wrapped in ammunition. Well, except for my bare chest, of course. (I should clarify at this point that I'm male.) In my right hand, I hold a flaming sword (black fire of course), and in my left hand I hold the multiverse itself. By my side is my trusty pet, which is actually a giant gun, but intelligent and with legs. A single tear slides down my shadowy face as I say, "Hello." Oh, and I have humongous pauldrons.

Consider me grittily rebooted.

I look wearily over my shoulder for a moment, shift my shoulders and crack my spine a bit, then take another sip of my rum. Dusty hat and tattered brown jacket notwithstanding, my senses are sharp and alert while I continue to peer down on the leaf in front of me.

MY GRITTY REBOOT
From over the bar (Do space saloons have bars?) an androgynous but vaguely human figure rises smoothly into view, elavator-pantomime-style. He...
She
It stands easily a head and a half over most of the other patrons brooding antiheroes, but its body is almost impossibly thin. Its taut, pale skin and sunken eyes look unhealthy, but its thin lipped smile is wide and friendly. You think you saw the garish purple tuxedo it's wearing on a cartoon magician once, tophat and all.
Its mouth drops just slightly to draw breath. The rest of its unmoving body and face seem content to remain behind, its wrist just barely flitting in greetings and its eyes seemingly locked on you alone.

Uuuuuh...
"Hey guys."
Huuuuuh.

Oh, now you know what was so uncanny valley about this thing! It doesn't have any eyelashes!
Yep. That was really bugging you.

Hello eveyone. I'm Yanmato1, but people generally drop the 1 when addressing me, so it's alright if you want to do that too. I've been playing since Time Spiral and I've been a regular attendant of this forum since Worldwake, talking incessently about the most meaningless and obscure mechanics of mana and magic as they hypothetically function as well as how the philosophies of the five colors apply to game-relevant things like maritime trade law.

If you're new to this forum, let me express my pleasure meeting you in advance.

I'll probably do it anyway, but just to be safe.

Party hard. That should pick you up." Mare bursts into tears. Says "But, doctor...I am Pinkie Pie." Good joke. Everypony laughs. Roll on snare drum. Curtains. Fade to black.

For almost all Magic fans, the "story" of Ravnica, for example, is that it's a city world with ten guilds -- yes, for most, that's a "story." All but a tiny fraction of the fan base are entirely unaware of an elaborate plot perpetrated by Augustin IV to trick Agrus Kos and Szadek into breaking the Guildpact, thereby enabling the Azorius to take control. Likewise, the vast majority of Magic players don't know who Harbin is, or Nivea, or Al-Hayat, or Feather, or Jared Carthalion, or Rebbec, or Zagorka ... the list goes on and on.

And one more thing...
CANON is the collected events and details of a fictional work that come directly from its author or someone with equal authority to the author. CANNON is a weapon that fires metal balls at a target, usually a structure or a crowd of enemy combatants. Every time you confuse the two, I'm forced to break one of my own fingers.
Hey everyone, I'm hail_the_mill_crab, usually Mill_Crab or Crab.

I'm the Crab this forum deserves, but not the one it needs right now. [/gritty reboot]

I started during Shards of Alara and was immediately drawn in by the amazing flavor all over the place. My first exposure to the novels was Alara Reborn (bless you, Doug, you tried so hard), but that didn't stop me from devouring as much Vorthos goodness as I could.

Like Isaic, I lurk, then post, then lurk, then get distracted by a squirrel, then come back and post again. I loooooove the flavor games we play down here, and I'll always stick around for those. Like some of the others, I enjoy playing chicken with Barinellos and seeing how far I can go with baseless speculation before being obliterated by his wrath.

Colors: mostly, with a healthy amount of green. I don't care much for , but seem to use them a lot for some reason in my fiction.

Decks: Aggro Control (I favor playstyle) and combo ( usually are my defaults). I've never gotten a hang of Aggro though.

Personality: I try to stay neutral, but can get my feathers ruffled. At that point I get bullheaded. I appologize now.

Hobbies: Other than magic mostly World of Warcraft and League of Legends.

story: About to graduate college with a degree in stage management (technical side of theatre (sort of)).

I probably could have avoided taking three posts to do my introduction, but it's a little late now, so here's some reality stuff about me:

The first form of Magic I ever played was Portal, and sort of played casually on-and-off ever since, but didn't really know much about the whole game until Time Spiral, when I started following the site. Shortly afterwards, I joined the forum to ask a rules question, and I've been hanging around ever since. I consider myself very Melvin, but at the same time fairly Vorthos. These factors, combined with the fact that I currently have no income, have led to me not having actually played Magic with real people for quite a while.

You know, now that I think about it, in addition to being a bit of a lurker on the forums, I'm pretty much a lurker for the game of Magic itself. I'll get real cards and find a real playgroup someday, but for now I'll just content myself with following the game, being part of the community, and testing decks against myself on My Wacky Spaceship.

With regards to this particular forum section, I'm really glad you guys exist, trying to keep track of all the flavor (cannon and non-cannon) bits that you can. I've always loved discovering the cool little stories hidden in cards and other forms of media. A while ago, I decided to read the story arc that was ongoing when I started the game, so I started with The Thran with the goal to read every book involving Urza and/or Gerrard. I managed to get up to Odyssey (which I was reading in order to properly understand Time Spiral), and am now taking a break.

Anyway, now you have an idea of my level of knowledge and my interests. Now that I've introduced myself, I might actually start posting more. *Crosses fingers.*

I'm Tevish Szat, resident "old guy".  As a member since 2001, I remember how back in my day this was Novels and Storylines, then we scared the authors off so we lost our "novels"!  How frightening!  I also remember that once upon a time this place was a haven of games and roleplaying.  If you'll just stay a while and listen

Kids these days!  Anyway, check out the Coalition Wargame, and if anyone can confirm the continued survival of Terisare City, probably check that out too.

I'm a 'dedicated' minion of all things dark (but especially of Phyrexia) and can pretty much be guarenteed to at least start out playing for Team Evil in things like the voting games.  Really, I tend to be more of a Card-carrying ineffectual sympathetic (I hope) villian, with such dastardly deeds as linking to tvtropes without warning.  There's history to this, but a lot of it has to do with Real Life and is furthermore in the deeper past than the Internet's memory

I don't post as often or get into debates like some of these other folks, but you'll see me around all the same.

I am Barinellos, and if you are unfortunate, you shall know me all too soon.

Yeah, that's as much of the great and powerful oz as I'm going to do right now. Just ask around about me otherwise.
So, I'm Arbitracious.  It's like a combination of Arbitrary and Bodacious.  It's not hard to say, really.  Just combine the two words at the a's.

I would claim to lurk, but really I'm just a lazy poster that gets moody about the state of MtG every now and again.

Anyways, I have been playing since Oddessy way back when, and hit my stride during the first Mirrodin block, but have really only come back for Ravnica, Mirrodin 2.0, Innistrad and maybe Ravnica 2.0 in the near future here.  Some sets just bug the crap out of me.  Hated Kamigawa, didn't like Alara, Time Spiral, or Eldrazi-whatevers.  But that's rage for another thread.

Anyways, I'm in a writing mood again, I was there for the founding of the M:EM effort, and was a contributing member back in the day.  Hopefully here soon I will have more to give.

Now, for the gritty reboot:

Hello, I'm LordArchaon, and I'm a bit of a stranger here, coming mostly from D&D.
But I'm fascinated by crossing-over worlds.
My very nickname for example comes from Warhammer, and I have a character now in Zendikar whose antecessors were from the universe of Warhammer 40k, no joke. And he himself comes from Innistrad, his family having a curse that planeswalk them from dark place to dark place at alternate generations. This to explain you how far I can go with my stories, but this is actually the most extreme example, not all my characters and stories are freaky...

Despite what my name, avatar (recognize it?) etc would suggest (I guess they suggest chaos and darkness), I'm a Green-Blue type at heart, although I'm fascinated by aspects of all colors of course, and all planes too!

As I mentioned, I create and play characters in Zendikar, using D&D. You can find a link to the Zendikar-D&D group I founded in my sig: it hit 101 members a few days ago!
Inside its forums, besides a lot of play-by-post gaming and some mechanical discussions, there's also a "fan-fic" of mine, involving that dark character I mentioned and a very strange merfolk that follows him in secret. It's called A Shade Over The Halimar and even if it could be badly written, I think it's coming out interesting!

I guess I like Zendikar because of my Green-Blue tendencies: at heart, the plane is vast wilderness and eldritch magic interacting at a deep level with it, re-organizing its very geology in sometimes coherent, sometimes inexplicable ways. Also, I study geology, so that.

Join the Zendikar D&D Campaign Setting group: discover the fantastic world and contribute to make Zendikar a playable setting!
   - Warning! Spectacular visuals and lore ahead! ... Take a look...
Play-by-Post and my D&D blogging!

Now, for the gritty reboot:

A swirl of dust and decidedly unscientific magic forms in the corner, above a table.  The swirling grows larger and louder until BAMF!!! a so-hot-she-makes-other-chicks-lezz angel appears.  She shouts at the unwashed masses in the space bar "WHY ARE YOU GETTING SPACE IN MY MAGIC!!!" before swirlyBAMFing out again.  Oh, and there were pauldrons.

Heh, maybe I should apologize for putting everyone in a space saloon. I still partially blame Keeper, though, for mentioning guns in the first place.
Maybe, um... replace "space" with "the blind eternities." Yes... we're uh... in a saloon... in the blind eternities. (That probably breaks a lot of rules.) Also any previous mentions of robots or other complex machinery (e.g. guns) are actually just magical artifice.

Oh, and my pauldrons are magically humongous.

Heyo~! My online handle is Moppi, I've been around since 2003 if I remember correctly but I went by a different user name back then, I only started using this online handle back in 2005ish.

Got introduced to Magic and it's gameplay back in the height of Tempest but got more into the Vorthos side of things come Urza's Saga, I soon drifted apart from the gameplay side because I found it too money consuming, and I do not have nearby players to play with. So from there on I just followed the story and all aesthetic related things to this game. I have a major penchant for angels and for mostly female characters and some of the more sexier males here and there. I also love land arts. :D

On the other side of things, I do like playing video games, mostly on the fighting game genre. I also dig some RPG's here and there. But in the end of the day I always get into the aesthetics and the story. I also draw, one of the main reasons why I love visual things as I constantly take in on inspiration to turn into ideas.

And just to throw some random wrench to end this, I love to watch indoor volleyball, I am addicted to coffee... and I love buses.

A hulk stomps its way into the doorframe of the saloon. The patrons look once upon it, then look away, not because they're terrified, but because they're used to this sort of thing by now.

It stands a head taller than the tallest in the room and three times wider than even the most musclebound. Its flesh contorts and writhes seemingly of its own accord. Spikes and hooks of metal protrude from its torso and limbs at odd angles, tearing holes in what seems to have once been an longcoat but is now little more than a collection of oil-stained rags. Its chest shows strange metallic struts underneath the layers of twisting biota, like the ribs of a massive decaying corpse.

It stomps forward; the floor rattles as the shreds of its clothing flutter behind it. It eyes the others present with an inscrutable, mangled expression that could be hunger, interest, hatred, or pity. Following it through the door are four dessicated corpses, devoid of expression but encased in armor and carrying weapons.

The giant and its guard make their way to the rear of the saloon and simply stand, as though they have nothing better to do.

NOW FOR THE REAL STUFF.

I'm BeastEngine. I've been around here for... maybe a year now. Been playing the game for about four. I'm nice! Normally.

Colors! Gamewise, I rarely play anything other than black, green, and artifacts. White drifts in and out. I tend to dislike blue and red for various reasons. Aesthetics-wise, the same. Personally, I'm white first, then red/blue depending on the situation.

I'm a Fireman (third enlisted rank from the bottom) in the United States Navy! Training to be a nuclear mechanic! Yay! So I'm also a military guy. I don't think there are any others around here. I used to write and play video games and Magic and things before the Navy co-opted my free time. So now I mostly just go to school and sleep. My greatest aspiration in life is to use the power of science to make the human race biologically immortal. Or, failing that, make myself immortal by harnessing the power of DREAD UNLIFE and the dark forces. MY dark forces, not Barinellos's. They're similar but different. In what little spare time I have I pretend to be a zombie and occasionally write stories, mostly about zombies. I like zombies.

AND THAT'S ABOUT IT
WHO AM I?

I'm VorthosianLoreWeaver, or just VLW. Some call me LoreWeaver and that's fine too. I'm usually lurking but sometimes post. I'm trying to shake the old cobwebs as it were and get more active in the forums but eh, we'll see what happens.
I started playing Magic at Eighth Edition when I saw some of the older scouts in the Troop playing. They eventually left, but I kept on collecting, finally playing for real sometime last year. In the interim, I was hooked on the flavor and the novel line. I've read every Magic novel from Moons of Mirrodin forward, barring Quest -_-. I have also read the ice age trilogy and two of the Harper Prism books.

All this talk of a space saloon and no one mentions Leo's at the edge of the Multiverse? From Colors of Magic? From...has it really already been two years since that game?

...I neglected to mention anything about colors in my introductory post, so while I'm typing...

My decks vary a great deal. I don't have much of a knack for control, but I dabble anyway. And I play plenty of aggro and combo. I have at least one favorite deck in all five colors. My personality is very white/blue, though. I am not in touch with my black side.

Yep, the one used for transport. I'm into the designs of them as well. I always joke around that if I ever had the money, I'd buy myself a coaster (a.k.a. a mini bus). And of course, I love riding in them, I somehow feel comfortable in doing so.

Unable to sleep for fear that my dreams would be stolen by the eldritch abomination that is my future self, I took the time to reread Dresden Codak and I'd forgotten how horribly and delightfully.... eccentric it is. Like the bastard child of cartoons, science, philosophy, and literature.

Important to note the bastardry of it though, because even while being intellectual, it is remarkably dumb.

My name is Cogminded, usually shortened to Cog, although I answer to just about anything really.

I've been playing since the start of Scars, though I have a deck from Kamigawa when I dabbled because my friend was playing and it had a cool Japanese feel, I simply lacked anything resembling funds to play.

I'm mainly :U::W: with any other colour I fancy at the time popping in.  I love artifacts, tokens and ridiculous win conditions.

I've joined M:EM and am working on designing a plane, I have random smatterings of other ideas, which is usually my problem when trying to write something - lots of cool (I think) ideas that don't fit together.

Aside from this I play video games, read, write dribs and drabs and have an obsession with bards, steampunk and occult mythology (no, that doesn't mean I try to summon demons or cast black magic, but the concepts are rather wonderful, think of me as being a Vorthos of history)

As the men discussed their awesome manliness, a waitress came bye with their usual drinks.  Gargleblasters, Dragons' Breaths, Triforean Toppling Tea...All served with deft moves and efficient motion.  As she moved, her hips swayed enormously from side to side, and when she stood, they jutted off on one direction far more than the average person would normally be able to manage, much less while balancing a tray full of rather expensive booze.

The cybernetics she was implanted with allowed such free range of motion, as well as giving her proficiency with the two sidearms at her long, muscled thighs, and the katana on her back.  It was cold today, so she'd had to use twice the usual amount of cloth to wrap her heavy cleavage up.

She smiled at the men as they thanked her for the drinks, and cut the arms off of the ones that forgot their manners.  Overall, a normal day.

I can't stand buses, but that's probably because I suffer severe motion sickness on them, and there's always way too many people on them. I'd rather take a train.

The door creaks open and an unimposing figure in mainly black squeezes through, bringing a blast of icy rain, then pushes the door firmly shut behind him.
'Hello. Is this World's End? I was told I...'
He looks around and notices how everyone seems to be carrying unlikely quantities of metalwork.
'Hang on a minute. I was expecting centaurs, undertakers, an elf and maybe Death. Oh well - damned reality storms.'
He heads for the bar, buys something Hobgoblin-y and finds a quiet place to sit.

I'm MarkXero and I'm a returning Magicist from long past. I played at Uni and sold my cards when I left, around the time of Ice Age. A random purchase of a Scars booster in a bookshop last year brought me back, so suffice to say I missed a lot. I'm trying to catch up and it's the stories that keep me interested, so I'm about as Vorthos as they come. I'm pretty WB myself, but prefer to play RW.
*me* takes another sip from behind his sand-worn expression, observing with a renewed focus how the saloon gradually filled up with faces, some old acquaintances, others he regarded with fresh expectations. The impressive gestures mattered little, but the minds behind them all the more so.

Hi, I'm Icedragon and I just figured out why I stopped getting emails from the Introductions thread:P  I've been floating around on this forum, commenting and arguing with PlagueBeastEngine for about a year and a half, I think.  I'm just starting to contribute to M:EM, and those are the only forum related things I can boast about.

As a rule, I only play decks.  I have a nutty esper deck that has only been beaten three or four times (once by mill, the rest by infect).  Right now I'm running Innistrad Spirits unsuccessfully, and I'm planning to go to a prerelease, get an Avacyn Restored fat pack, and build something monsterous, hopefully with Tamiyo, because I love the flavor of her character:P

I'm a fan of Tezzeret and Test of Metal (to which my signature will attest), even though it was written in a strange fashion and it broke several continuity rules.

I'm a musician and a linguist.  I am a fan of progressive metal, power metal, and jazz, but I appreciate the artistry in just about everything (though I still haven't fully consolidated with myself the fact that pop is still music).  I learned English growing up, I can write in Latin without much effort, and I know some measure of Sindarin, Quenya, and Esperanto, and I have translated a few different things into those languages.

I consider myself a scholar through and through.  I have read almost all of the greatest pieces of literature and philosophy in the histery of western culture (western meaning European and American, not cowboys and shootouts).

It probably won't play in here much, but since we're on introductions, I'm also a casual gamer, playing Starcraft II, Skyrim, and Sins of a Solar Empire, but I'm taking a break from that now, because my thesis defense is coming up and I need to prepare (and because my video card is out of date and needs an upgrade before I can play competitively again).

Oh yeah, and I wrote a thesis on Justice and its relationship with Revenge, using A Tale of Two Cities, The Republic, and Beowulf as evidence and subject of analysis.

As for the gritty reboot... my creative juices are worn out, and I opposed the idea in the first place, because I think gritty reboots are a bit overdone these days.
Check out my blog, Anarion's Last Stand, with such diverse topics as poetry, writing, and [insert blog topic here] Anarionslaststand.blogspot.com I am the stone that comes not from the sea. I am the blood but the blood is not me. I am the key to the door with no locks. I am the mainspring that winds broken clocks. I am your tears on the chains of the rack. I am your gift and you can't give me back.
That's quite a resume you have there Ice, and do you have the list for that Esper deck posted somewhere?

I must admit that I haven't as yet read any of the novels, though I'm very much looking forward to when I get the chance as I have heard some very good comments (on some at least)

s for the gritty reboot... my creative juices are worn out, and I opposed the idea in the first place, because I think gritty reboots are a bit overdone these days.

I think that was kind of the point.  I don't know if you've noticed, but most of us have been mocking the [redacted] out of the concept.

That's quite a resume you have there Ice, and do you have the list for that Esper deck posted somewhere? I must admit that I haven't as yet read any of the novels, though I'm very much looking forward to when I get the chance as I have heard some very good comments (on some at least)

Here is my esper deck (As well as some others.  I haven't updated it in a while, but I don't think I've really changed anything in the last six months or so)

And I give up, I'll give a nice gritty reboot a try after going through and reading everybody else's for inspiration.

EDIT: Lol here's as much as you're getting for a gritty reboot.  I can't come up with anything litarary and nice sounding right now, so, enjoy
