Sorin, Lord of Innistrad ability:

[-6]: Destroy up to three target creatures and/or other planeswalkers. Return each card put into a graveyard this way to the battlefield under your control.

Mimic Vat ability:
Imprint — Whenever a nontoken creature is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may exile that card.

What happens when both are on the battlefield and Sorin's -6 ability is used?
The imprint ability on Mimic vat is a triggered ability.  While it does trigger during the resolution of Sorin's ability, it doesn't get put onto the stack until that ability has already resolved and returned the creatures to Sorin's controller.  When Mimic Vat's ability resolves, there is no card to exile since Sorin already returned it.
