I have the feeling that it will be either:
a) delayedb) something bad for the customer dressed up as something good for the customerc) both actually
My gut says "5th Edition!" But its the middle of January! Who the heck reads the website in January? Also, isn't the D&D Experience on the 26th? Wouldn't that serve as a better venue for a big announcment? So... I have no clue.

The only announcement I have seen today is the article not found for rule of three.
That would not be that big a piece of news, 3.x stuff is still very easy to come by.

Copper for the craftsman, cunning at his trade.

I've replaced the previous Edition Warring line in my sig with this one, because honestly, everybody needs to work together to make the D&D they like without trampling on somebody else's D&D.

Word in the Twittersphere on this is the announcement will be at 10 am Eastern Standard Time, to coincide with a fluff piece on D&D in the New York Times online ediiton. People are speculating a few different things, I'm pretty sure its going to be a return of previous edition pdfs, as was suggested at GenCon earlier this year when at one of the panels a WotC person said the back-catalogue of Eberron products would be available to D&D insiders (IIRC). He thought it had already been announced, but he was early, and I haven't heard anything more on it since.
