My opponent plays Gideon and uses the +2. I attack with a creature equipped with Argentum Armor.

Can I kill Gideon and damage him?

My opponent plays Gideon Jura and uses the +2. I attack with a creature equipped with Argentum Armor. Can I kill Gideon and damage him?

The Armor triggers when the creature is declared as an attacker, and goes on the stack once you have finished declaring attackers. By this time your creature is already attacking Gideon - its too late for it to attack something/someone else.

Im not sure whether this removes your attackers from combat or not, however - could someone help there?

That makes no sense to me. If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed? ~ Tim
Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch. YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Negative

506.4. A permanent is removed from combat if it leaves the battlefield, if its controller changes, if it phases out, if an effect specifically removes it from combat, if it’s a planeswalker that’s being attacked and stops being a planeswalker, or if it’s an attacking or blocking creature that regenerates (see rule 701.11) or stops being a creature. A creature that’s removed from combat stops being an attacking, blocking, blocked, and/or unblocked creature. A planeswalker that’s removed from combat stops being attacked.

506.4c If a creature is attacking a planeswalker, removing that planeswalker from combat doesn’t remove that creature from combat. It continues to be an attacking creature, although it is attacking neither a player nor a planeswalker. It may be blocked. If it is unblocked, it will deal no combat damage.

Thanks! I found 506.4. myself, but didnt see 506.4c.

Cheers,
