What's your win condition?  Mulldrifter?

And why Deprive?  I could understand if you had a land worth replaying...wouldn't Prohibit  be better in most cases?  Or are you using the land in Compulsive Research?

yes, my creatures are my win cons.... figured that would be straight forward.  i guess furthermore, my win con is the sheer card drawing and CA i gain over my opponent.  my deck usually takes 15+ turns to win, but it can definitely win.  a lot, too, i might add.  pretty much has no real weakness other than being a bit soft too esper storm, which is why there are so many dedicated hate cards for that matchup.

deprive because i wanted another hard counter for only 2 mana.  i'm not a big fan of prohibit since its restrictive.  the reason post decks use it is because their mana can be crappy, but i will actually see many double blue chances.  hard counters for cheap are good, even in the late game.  yes, the ability to bounce a land for compulsive research is nice and i do use it, but its mostly because you need more hard counters at 2 mana that aren't restrictive.  you likely won't play the card until turn 4, 5+ anyways and won't see it as often since its a 2 of.  later in the game, its just more counterspells.

i played this deck in a few dailies a few months back, placing in both.  but esper storm took off and i didn't want to play anymore.  i'm gonna start trying again with the deck.  i'll also note that when i debuted the deck, there was a week or 2 where people were netdecking me and placing at the 3-1 or 4-0 mark.  so the deck definitely can do well.  but i will also say that from getting other people to try my list, its something you need to get comfortable with since its not so pick up and go.  practicing really does help to get to know how the deck plays out.  game will go long, but that's where the deck's strengths lie.  its not uncommong to outdraw your opponent by game's end by as much as 20 extra cards.  i often win with less than 20 cards in my deck.

ha, i've even had games go so long that i used compulsive research to mill my opponents out.

any updates for a meta with out the new banned card? it seems like it may change things a bit...

To me, there is no such thing as an evil personality trait or spiritual condition. There is only sin, concrete and deliberate action that is simply wrong. It is what happens when one goes against one's nature. It germinates in the shadow of risks untaken. It ripens in power exorcised. Beings like us can take risks no one else can, and exorcise power no one else has. We have the greatest capacity for sin, through action, or inaction.

Meh, not sure whether this is entirely accurate, at least for concept decks. Sometimes an unrefined idea cannot beat the top dogs at first, but with a few suggestions and heavy playtesting, they might get there. Islands' diamond in the rough lists are a good rebuttal to your statement.

yes, less specific hate cards and more universally good cards against stuff.  things like seismic shudder, more colorOblasts, things like negate for control decks.  this deck can be allowed ot play well again.  however, i'm waiting to actually play it until the pauper queues stop paying out in M11 packs, which are basically worthless.  basically, winning only means you make your money back.  there's almost no point in playing unless you win at daily level events or higher, but even that's hardly worth it.

So, i still never got the color blasts or the exclude, but i have been showing REALLY good numbers with this. i am having a bit of trouble with ataog/affinity, but other than that, i feel pretty good with pretty much everything...

is pyroblast that much better than hydro? i was thinking of 3 hydro, 2 pyro in the board, and losing 1 negate, both cancels a stone rain and a shudder...what do you think?

This is probably about the best deck in the format that no one knows about...... yet....  I'll start playing this deck again and win.  Netdecking will ensue like it did last time.

Lands:

3 - Evolving Wilds

3 - Terramorphic Expanse

10 - Snow-Covered Island

6 - Snow-Covered Mountain

22 Lands

Creatures:

4 - Sea Gate Oracle

4 - Mulldrifter

3 - Ninja of the Deep Hours

2 - Steamcore Weird

13 Creatures

Other Spells:

4 - Counterspell

2 - Deprive

4 - Preordain

4 - Accumulated Knowledge

4 - Lightning Bolt

4 - Skred

3 - Flame Slash

25 Other Spells

Sideboard:

4 - Pyroblast

2 - Hydroblast

1 - Dispel

2 - Curfew

2 - Electrickery

1 - Flame Slash

3 - Coast Watcher

15 Cards in Sideboard

Now that combo decks with storm are extinct as well as most of the over the top broken cards for things like infect, cloudpost, etc., this is probably the most powerful "fair" deck there is.  It can outclass mono blue, izzet kiln fiend combo, B or B/u control and has enough answers to handle most other things.

pretty pumped I get to start doing well again
