D&D Errata
Official D&D Updates

New errata has been released.

Talk about this Errata here.

The big change is clearly to Cunning Sneak, allowing it to kick in any time you've moved, as opposed to only on a move action.  This is HUGE for sneaky rogues.
Call Spirit Companion is also a big change, no more dismiss and re-summon as a minor action.
Can I have the IP address for the updates. I had it on my work comp once but had to clean it out

I'm glad to see the clarification; at least we know for sure now.

"What is the sort of thing that I do care about is a failure to seriously evaluate what does and doesn't work in favor of a sort of cargo cult posturing. And yes, it's painful to read design notes columns that are all just "So D&D 3.5 sort of had these problems. We know people have some issues with them. What a puzzler! But we think we have a solution in the form of X", where X is sort of a half-baked version of an idea that 4e executed perfectly well and which worked fine." - Lesp

In the compiled information, I noticed that none of the changes present in the Rules Compendium are present.

Just to let WotC know: Me, nor any of my friends, nor anyone I can talk to, will be purchasing the Rules Compendium or any DnD related product until this, as well as the Character builder issue, is rectified. This is purely in response to what appears to be a greed-driven business model designed in an attempt to sell a product line. I can understand if the Character Builder updates require a lot of work. I can't understand why we now have -two- official sets of errata'd rules: one that includes the changes in Rules Compendium and one, that came later, that does not.

The released Errata should contain -all- effective changes to the game, not just the ones that WotC isn't selling. I understand that selling errata was one of the concepts being discussed at the onset of DDI, and I hope this isn't the business plan they are going for, because they will lose approximately 15 customers with just my group alone.

Please update the errata ASAP to -properly- convey the changes in the game system, changes that WotC claimed to exist before the Compendium was released.

thanks a lot
how should i apply the updates? tape or write them in the book?
I recommend using post-it notes, that way if you decide you would rather revert to the old rules, uninstalling the update is as easy as removing the patch, rather than attempting to clean out a hard-coded change. (Sorry, whenever I see them called updates instead of Errata, I always think of computer programs.)
I was expecting to see Duelist Prowess finally getting the Weapon Keyword, but alas, it hasn't yet.
Glad to see the Cunning Sneak Feature finally being on par with the last Stealth Updates.

Some people print them out in a separate binder. That works pretty well and keeps your books intact .
no errata to wildshape?
I won't be holding my breath for any rules updates --especially to class mechanics-- outside of Essentials material for the foreseeable future.  I suspect we'll first see a wildshape fix in an update document similar to the one they released before the first Essentials book (i.e. the doc that contained the Sneak Attack change and all the new miss/effect lines for wizard powers).

This is purely in response to what appears to be a greed-driven business model designed in an attempt to sell a product line.

Dude, until you accept that the entire point of running a business is to sell products and make money, you are going to lead a frustrated, miserable existence.
If your position is that the official rules don't matter, or that house rules can fix everything, please don't bother posting in forums about the official rules. To do so is a waste of everyone's time.

Aren't most business model greed-driven? More accurately, all successful business models would be profit-driven right? Though I remember reading that focusing on profits versus value lead to many business failures.

Focusing on short term profits can lead to long term failure.

my builds
F-111 Interdictor Long (200+ squares) distance ally teleporter. With some warlord stuff. Broken in a plot way, not a power way.

Thought Switch Higher level build that grants upto 14 attacks on turn 1. If your allies play along, it's broken.

Elven Critters Crit op with crit generation. 5 of these will end anything. Broken.

King Fisher Optimized net user.  Moderate.

Boominator Fun catch-22 booming blade build with either strong or completely broken damage depending on your reading.

Very Distracting Warlock Lot's of dazing and major penalties to hit. Overpowered.

Pocket Protector Pixie Stealth Knight. Maximizing the defender's aura by being in an ally's/enemy's square.

Yakuza NinjIntimiAdin: Perma-stealth Striker that offers a little protection for ally's, and can intimidate bloodied enemies. Very Strong.

Chargeburgler with cheese Ranged attacks at the end of a charge along with perma-stealth. Solid, could be overpowered if tweaked.

Void Defender Defends giving a penalty to hit anyone but him, then removing himself from play. Can get somewhat broken in epic.

Scry and Die Attacking from around corners, while staying hidden. Moderate to broken, depending on the situation.

Skimisher Fly in, attack, and fly away. Also prevents enemies from coming close. Moderate to Broken depending on the enemy, but shouldn't make the game un-fun, as the rest of your team is at risk, and you have enough weaknesses.

Indestructible Simply won't die, even if you sleep though combat.  One of THE most abusive character in 4e.

Sir Robin (Bravely Charge Away) He automatically slows and pushes an enemy (5 squares), while charging away. Hard to rate it's power level, since it's terrain dependent.

Death's Gatekeeper A fun twist on a healic, making your party "unkillable". Overpowered to Broken, but shouldn't actually make the game un-fun, just TPK proof.

Death's Gatekeeper mk2, (Stealth Edition) Make your party "unkillable", and you hidden, while doing solid damage. Stronger then the above, but also easier for a DM to shut down. Broken, until your DM get's enough of it.

Domination and Death Dominate everything then kill them quickly. Only works @ 30, but is broken multiple ways.

Battlemind Mc Prone-Daze Protecting your allies by keeping enemies away. Quite powerful.

The Retaliator Getting hit deals more damage to the enemy then you receive yourself, and you can take plenty of hits. Heavy item dependency, Broken.

Dead Kobold Transit Teleports 98 squares a turn, and can bring someone along for the ride. Not fully built, so i can't judge the power.

Psilent Guardian Protect your allies, while being invisible. Overpowered, possibly broken.

Rune of Vengance Do lot's of damage while boosting your teams. Strong to slightly overpowered.

Charedent BarrageA charging ardent. Fine in a normal team, overpowered if there are 2 together, and easily broken in teams of 5.

Super Knight A tough, sticky, high damage knight. Strong.

Super Duper Knight Basically the same as super knight with items, making it far more broken.

Mora, the unkillable avenger Solid damage, while being neigh indestuctable. Overpowered, but not broken.

Swordburst Maximus At-Will Close Burst 3 that slide and prones. Protects allies with off actions. Strong, possibly over powered with the right party.

Also remember that, organiz-wait a second, this is a rules Q and A thread. Move it to General Discussion.

More on-point: Aren't most of those updates available online anyways, even if not fully compiled into the larger update docs just yet?  Remember seeing a PDF from WotC that covered, say, the flex stats and things like that, right around the release of the book that contained those changes.
It seems that the druid is a class in the HotFK so hopefully, that will mean that wild shape gets reworded and patched through the existing builds.

Wouldn't be surprising, they've done something similar with Sneak Attack.

yeah.

....

It seems like the only power level (and class feature fixing) errata in the last two updates has been for stuff that appears in HotFL.

Yeah, it's almost like they said that Essentials was gonna include a lot of changes they already planned on, or something...

Where can I find the update document with the sneak attack change?

It appeared in DNDEssentialUpdate PDF last month.

You can find it in the UpdateCompiled PDF regrouping all the erratas and updates done to this date by WoTC on P. 92.
