That's actually 131 cards, you know.

L1 Judge

Path to Exile number 80 and Day of Judgment at 94?

Any list over 25 items long becomes exponentially arbitrary as the list grows longer.

Yeah, this is pretty stupid after the first 20 or so.

It's good to know Lightning Bolt is better than Time Vault, though.

EDIT: lol, duals are better than sol ring and bargain

Where's Raging Goblin?
Ehhh.... personally I'd put Time Walk over Yawgmoth's will, but I guess that's just me. And Day of Judgment on the top 100? That doesn't seem right...
Where's Raging Goblin?

Pssh, that card is garbage.  Order of the Golden Cricket crushes it all day, every day.
I'm collecting Drudge Skeleton/Swamp misprints. If you have any, PM me! Current count - 24 Trade thread: http://community.wizards.com/marketplace/go/thread/view/94957/22313557/My_HavesWants_List?sdb=1&post_num=1#388440657
Order of the Golden Cricket is definitely better than Day of Judgment, yeah.

Force of Will actually isn't all that great. It's just been necessitated by the vintage metagame.

QFT. Order of the Golden Cricket has won far more games.

Chaos orb?  Really?
Any format that would allow chaos orb change the way people position their cards in such a way that chaos orb would never hit more than one card.  Sure, being able to destroy any permanent for 3 is fine and all, but is it worth a place in the top 100?
And I mean, if you're gonna put cards that are illegal in all formats in that list, then contract from below NEEDS to be #1 of that list.

Also, lol at ivory tower being anywhere near that list.

I was thinking that same thing. I was wondering if maybe it was used somewhere that I had overlooked, but I didn't bother to look it up.

Hey now, Ivory Tower's awesome. I've had lots of people scoop after a turn one play of that.

Ivory Tower was a powerhouse back in the day.

That's either because you play against stupid people or because way too many people in your area play burn decks.  Against anything that's not burn (or heavy burn RDW), Ivory tower turn one is in no way an auto win.  Not even close.  Heck, if someone played turn 1 ivory tower, my first thought would be "that's gonna be an easy win!"

Ivory tower was considered good when people didn't have a good understanding of the MtG mechanics.

Mostly cuz they're playing too much burn decks, but Ivory Tower's still awesome. I do agree that I play against a lot of stupid people, though. Either that or newbs. Learn to respect the difference.

Pfft, why would it be? Is it because the plural of "ox" is "oxen"? That's a horrible reason.

The plural of "goose" is "geese", but the plural of "mongoose" is "mongooses". Therefore, I say it should be "moxii" just because.

Thanks to all the people who actually took my position seriously.

The reason day of judgment was on there was simply because, well, let's face it, it's not much worse than Wrath of God. It basically just does the same thing, but doesn't take advantage of a certain mechanic. As for Ivory Tower, it used to be one of the best life-gain engines in magic, and in multiples, it probably still is. Think back to when Library was popular. They actually restricted Tower just to prevent people from gaining 8-12 life every turn.

They restricted ivory tower because, like all players at the time and like all new players today, they overrated the value of life gain.  We're talking about the same people who thought healing salve would be as good as lightning bolt.  I see lightning bolt in your list, but not healing salve.  They banned artifact lands for much better reasons and I don't see them on your list (yes, only in standard, but lets face it, the power level of the format when ivory tower got restricted was much lower than the power level of standard when they banned the artifact lands).

And you didn't address the chaos orb oddity.  Again, if you're going to put cards that are not allowed in any formats, then contract from below has to be #1.
Disciple of the Vault higher than Time Vault?  Rav shocklands higher than Time Vault?  Have you even read that card?

Contract from Below was a card that was never legal in sanctioned tournaments, while Chaos Orb was. I'm only dealing with cards that are or were played in non-ante sanctioned tournaments. Ante is a casual format. I know they used to have some ante tournaments, but from my understanding, Ante is like EDH or Unhinged cards: It's supposed to be casual, whether they have tournaments or not. Get what I'm saying?

And the reason why Time Vault was low on the list is because it doesn't work well on it's own. It needs a supportive card (Voltaic Key, Tezzeret the Seeker) to do anything. The three things that make a magic card powerful, IMO, are: 1. versatility, 2. raw power, and 3. The ability to work without another card backing it up. While Time Vault is extremely powerful, it is only powerful with the aforementioned cards, and not only that, it can't just be thrown into any deck. Granted, Disciple of the Vault is a similar issue, but there are more cards that break it than there are cards that break time vault, and Time Vault doesn't multiply if you get 2 or more copies.

Thank you for the feedback regardless.

Why is Chaos Orb supposed to be good? If you can aim it, it's still just a colorless Vindicate.

And if you can aim it very well, it's a colorless (and very easily recurrable) Violent Ultimatum or better for the low low price of [manacost]2[/manacost] and [manacost]1[/manacost].
No.

http://nogoblinsallowed.com/

Yes.
Yes.  I'm not speaking hypothetically or theoretically here.  I've used Chaos Orb many times.

Also note that Chaos Orb gets around shroud/protection/etc, can't be misdirected, is colorless and can therefore go in any deck, etc.
When you play Chaos Orb, do your opponents not play with their cards further apart? It's an unbeatable anti-Chaos Orb strategy.
IMO, it's against the spirit of the rules to alter the playing field to counter Chaos Orb. The game really needs a designated battlematt.

How so?  Or did you forget a dodgy?

Playing to lose is against the spirit of MY rules.
Chaos Orb you can also rip into little pieces and sprinkle on the other person's side and just get rid of everything.

By that logic most of the cards on the list are useless.  Lotus is useless if you don't have some card to spend the mana on.  Any mox is useless you happen to get it while you are playing a land, otherwise might as well of had another land in the deck instead of it.

Time Vault can be put into any deck with the key, but Time Walk needs a blue deck to use it.

No.

Awesome argument dude. I totally agree with you now.

Seriously, though, Chaos Orb is amazing. You practice with it enough and it is a lethal weapon.

As for my logic, maybe I should've worded it better. Instead of "another card backing it up," it should say, "a specific card backing it up." So, Black Lotus needs another card, but it can be virtually ANY nonland card that costs more than one mana. That explain my reasoning to you?

The highest card that is ONLY good as part of a combo on the list is Flash. That's a two-card, turn 0 win combo, and it only made it in the top 20-30.

AMCN Post 1: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/28306201/The_Angry_Magic_Card_Nerd:_Post_1_(Pale_Moon) AMCN Post 2: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/28308299/The_Angry_Magic_Card_Nerd:_Post_2_(Mudhole) http://images.community.wizards.com/community.wizards.com/user/shadowacs/0a9a5a662b5c4080b14625c81d304146.jpg?v=144900
So you also want to say that you are also basing this off of playing it on turn one?  Because when the game is almost over the key / time vault is what I would be praying for over the lotus or any mox.

I'd take a t1 Lotus over a t8 time vault/key any day. And am I wrong, but are you seriously trying to get me to say that Time Vault is better than Lotus?
