"Lords of Creation” is one of the most addictive forum games you’ll ever encounter. You might recall one of the earlier versions here on these boards. If you saw it and wanted to join but the collective history was too daunting, fear not; now is your chance. This is a play-by-post cooperative world-building game in which the players take on the role of gods, with the full powers and influence thereof. The goal of this is to produce a campaign world complete with history, pantheon, geography, races, creatures, and anything you could possibly imagine. One of the best elements is that the world is entirely organic; ancient wars, cultural growth, and divine conflicts are actually the result of warring interests, rather than being pulled whole cloth from a single person’s imagination. This provides diversity that you just can’t find anywhere else. And of course, we have a LOT of fun along the way. To facilitate play and later use, we also have a wikia where game information (such as homebrew races, maps, classes, etc) will be posted: The Wiki

You can find the rules here: The Rules on Wiki
And we also ask that you read these basic guidelines: Guidelines

The full set of rules may also be downloaded from : The Full Rules

There is also a group for the game, which hosts in-world PbPs, discussions and important news broadcasts:  community.wizards.com/lordsofcreation

Finally, many of us chat on and off about the game or other random things at

Moderate Domains (up to 2):
Lesser Domains (up to 4):

Physical Appearance

Personality/Core Concept:

Special Rules for this turn:

Name: Karak
Greater Domain: Corruption
Moderate Domains (up to 2): Luck, Games
Lesser Domains (up to 4): Aberrations, Grafts, Improvements, Symbiotes
Physical Appearance: He appears as a floating mass of undefined "stuff" at the beginning. As he finds advantageous physcial characteristics in creature's/races, his body will unconsiously mold to add them. Eventually he will look like a rather strange comglomerate of a bunch of races and creatures.
Symbol: Those who profess their faith in him do so by the grafts and symbiotes that he gifts his faithful with.
Personality/Core Concept: His greatest joy is to improve the creations of others. However, his idea of what is an improvement is somewhat macabre and disturbing.

Plane of Origin: Culthet
Take a look at my Handbook: The Pet Store: A Familiar Keeper's Handbook Nacht: "Vecna can do ANYTHING given preptime. He's like an undead lich god Batman."
So, yeah, everybody, I'm interested, just in case you didn't know.

Name: The Monarch Queen

Major: Death
Moderate: Light, Extravagance
Minor: Dreams, Royalty, Wealth, Butterflies

Symbol: The Monarch Butterfly pattern. It can be incorporated into anything the worshipper wishes, and in fact, the more eccentric and extravagant the manner in which they do so, the better.

Plane of Origin: Mishway (or, in her words, the Flower Pot)

Appearance: The Queen resembles a somewhat plump sort of woman who isn’t necessarily old, but certainly getting on in years. While no wrinkles mar her round face, her hair is white and her body is by no means spry. But to really define the Queen’s appearance, one must merely look to the word that says it all: extravagance. The Queen wears huge ball gowns so cumbersome, she can barely complete even the simplest tasks, and in fact has difficulty with even base mobility. Her hair is piled high upon her head in a tall beehive of sculpted waves and curls so shiny and stiff, it appears as though a thick lacquer has been painted over it. But if that seems extravagant, that is nothing compared to the accessories she piles on. Necklaces hung with diamonds the size of a child’s fist circle her neck and her nails are not painted with nail polish, but rather studded with tiny gemstones. Though the general “theme” of her outfits vary greatly, the Queen has been known to wear such things as actual flowers, not only in her hair, but upon her dress too, and not just small ones, but rather vast sunflowers and huge orchids. She has even been known to wear living animals as accessories.

Concept: The Monarch Queen is an eccentric fairy-queen/rich British socialite and monarch rolled together with a Broadway diva and shepherd of the dead with a splash of Tim Burton-y goodness for good measure. She is off-kilter and weird and teaches her followers that, if they are extravagant enough in their mortal lives, she will throw a huge, British socialite dinner/tea party in their honour should they ever happen to expire. Then, after the party, should they so choose, they may “retire to the lounge” and, in essence, pass on for good.

Name: Davos, The Aristocrat, The Worm

Greater: Knowledge

Moderate: Strategy, Decay

Lesser: Architecture, Aristocracy, Books, Avarice

Plane of Origin:  Culthet

Appearance: An immense, malignant worm, pallid and mold white calls itself Davos.  Hundreds of meters long, Davos lusts after information, the more depraved the better.  The Worm's head secretes a vicious slime, bulbous blue eyes staring outwards.  Tiny, vestigial appendages constantly ooze an acidic ink at random locations along the length of The Worm, etching weird patterns into the stone as Davos travels endlessly through the earth.

Mortal followers of Davos tend towards scholars who's minds have broken under the strain of academic labor, elites who allow a lust for position and power to lead them to shadowed paths and unscrupulous practitioners of magic.  It is, however, not uncommon for leaders of armies and hordes of soldiers to offer reverence to Davos, invoking devious cunning in the undoing of their foes.  Every prayer, every oath sworn and sacrifice made in the name of The Aristocrat brings another fragment of his corrosive influence into the Third world.
Name: Itja-Rek

Greater: Time

Moderate: Secrets, Language

Lesser: Rogues, Ruins, Greed, Traps

Symbol: A skeletal hand clutching a golden scepter.

Appearance:  Deep underwater in The plane of bleakness, a tomb, a relic from another universe sits.  Within in, the souls of those caught in its horrid traps twist and pulsate towards one another, coalescing into a shimmering, slightly slimy mass around a shard of extra-universal power.

Concept: Formed of the long-dead souls of thieves from another universe, the thing that is  (Itja-Rek) is brand new.  However, the conciousnesses of those dead souls that make up his body sometimes come to the surface, and as a whole has instilled a tendency to... acquire... things.
Name: Djaf

Major: Death
Moderates: Spirits, After-life
Minors: Swords, Butterflies, Gardens and Endings.

Appearance: The God of Death has many forms and will shift between them as the ages pass. His first and true form though is a winged man. No dress will cover his body at he enters the world. His body frail, pale and malnourished. His eyes will shine white and pure and his hair will be dark as the night sky. His wings will reach far and wide, five times the size of his body. Black as the night they will be and half-hidden amongst it´s feathers tiny stars will shimmer.

A robe will then appear. A garb fitting a man of finest breed. Silvery embrodery flooding down long arms, painting pictures of tiny flowers made my purest silver, birds in flight at his shoulders, a closed gate with three bars at his chest and a downspour of silvery rain under it. A crown will form upon his head made by finest silver shaped by an immmortal´s will.

Personality: Djaf is an agent of order. He has a purpose in this world and that purpose is to protect the souls of the mortal creatures he knows will come and deliver them to what awaits beyond this world. Other then that his purpose and meaning is a blank card that lacks opinions, goals and memories of what was he before he entered the world. If there even was a before.

Totem Animal: Butterfly

Totem tree: Elder Tree

Totem flower: True Forget-me-not

Colour of choice: Dark blue

Symbol: A gate with three bars.

Plane of Origin: Mishway
Name: Sonnet | Syreene

Major: The Seasons
Moderate: Destiny, Fey
Minor: Weather, Beginnings, Music, Stars

Plane of Origin: Mishway

Appearance: The God of Seasons changes with its domain. In the Spring, she is Syreene, gradually changing over the course of the summer into the masculine Sonnet come autumn, once more changing to Syreene over the course of the winter, the change becoming complete once more in spring.

Personality: As Sonnet, he is aloof and thoughtful. As Syreene, she is warm and loving.

Symbol: A segmented half-circle starburst of 4 colors (turquoise, green, red, white)
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one. Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.
Current Waiting List:

None! Be the next Lord of Creation!
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one. Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.
Culthet, of course.
Name: Caltabactos
World: Mishway (Will change if necesary)

Major: Change
Moderates: Luck, Dreams
Minors: Insanity, Desire, Music, Capriciousness

Appearance: Constantly changing, but if humanoid, he is always male with pure white skin. His three favorite forms are:
1. A 4-digit hand that's gold and spikey. Continuously flexes its fingers, almost in a way that makes it seem like it is plotting something.
2. A naked man with gleaming violet eyes and long, purple hair carring a red walking staff. The staff is in a double-helix shape that converges at either end. The man is always grinning as if something is off.
3. An old man with white hair reaching down to his ankles. He carries a dagger in his left hand, and has billowing black robes have shining white dots like stars. His face is always stoic in this form.

Personality: Caltabactos is completely and utterly insane. The specifics of his personality are dependent on his form
1. While a hand, Caltabactos never speaks, which makes it seem the most reasonable in this form. It points and gesticulates in a way that any other divine beings could understand its intentions by the way it points.
2. In his younger form, Caltabactos speaks almost completely nonsensically to anyone speaking with him, sometimes abruptly saying something logical, but then reverting to his strange speech patterns. In this form he is excitable and inventive, wanting to create new things, and see how it affects other populations.
3. In his older form, Caltabactos is in an almost-constant ramble about things that make almost no sense. He is very irritable in this form, especially if anyone interrupts his rants on nothing. When in this form, he is more focused on doing tasks that increase his standing in the world.

Symbol: An infinity sign, imperfectly drawn.

Concept: Completely insane, but has a strange intelligence to him. I somewhat want him to be involved in connecting the two worlds.
Resident generic resident.
Name: The Mother

Major: Nature
Moderates: Insects, Community
Minors: Family, Hunger, Birth, Poison

Appearance: The Mother has two forms. Her 'true' form is a huge insect queen, with a bloated stomach squirming with eggs, puss drooling down her grotesque form. She bears resemblance to no insect in particular, rather seems to take parts of all of them to form some kind of grotesque horrible hybrid of all of them.
The second is a far smaller, human sized even humanoid form that looks a little like if a succubus was also an insect... an alluring, beautiful form that draws eyes and captures hears.
The Mother is under the impression both forms are equally beautiful, after all, they're both her. She acknowledges some races and individuals prefer one over the other however.

Personality: The Mother has very simple motivation: eat, breed, and protect her children. The world is her hive, and all the things she creates upon it are her children. Of course sometimes her children die, or are killed by others, it is the nature of things... in the same way a queen ant is not remiss when it's larva is eaten or one of it's workers goes astray, neither does The Mother care is some of her creations are wiped out. If, however, something were to threaten her very hive or an entire race or kind of her creations, her fury can be so great it can only be described as a natural disaster.
The Mother is also vain in the extreme... she believes herself to be among the most beautiful of creations, after all anyone who can create such beautiful children must be beautiful herself after all. She takes pride in her creations, beast or race, and values the simpleness of family and community... and loathes those that seek to undermine it.

Symbol: An large winged ant surrounded by a circle of inter-joined worker ants.

Plane: Cuthlet

Name: Hulnajekthulazirettyulopjuwarsez. He accepts any variations, titles, or nicknames, as long as its clear you're addressing him.

Major: Control
Moderate: Secrets, Psionics
Minor: Machinery, Trade, Pride, Deception

Appearance: A brain with one central eye, a mouth, and several inky black tentacles.

Personality: Hulnaje' is an egomaniac hell-bent on dominating the universe. Although he originates in a sureal universe, he realizes that in order to acchieve ultimate power, he must tap into both madness and order. He seeks to bend all things to his will. He trusts no one, always has several elaborate schemes to exert his will on the world, and never, EVER lets all of his secrets out of his mind. he is willing to help other gods, but always makes sure they put up collateral.

Symbol: A brain with inky black black tentacles wrapped around humanoid hands.

Plane: Cuthlet
Name: Absalom, The Divine Muse

Greater Domain: Beauty

Moderate Domains (up to 2): Inspiration, Art

Lesser Domains (up to 4): Truename Magic, Literature, Theatre, Music

Physical Appearance: Upon birth Absalom takes on no definitive concrete form, instead allowing the world around him to flourish and form until he finds inspiration.  In the meantime, Absalom exists as a cloud of energy that has characteristics simultaniosly possessed by all four stages of matter, within which flows and dances an ever changing series of patterns and colors that reflect the thoughts and moods of the Deity.

Symbol: The double double white alabaster masks of Comedy and Tragedy sitting back to back with each other.

Personality/Core Concept: Absalom is a God devoted to the Platonic sense of beauty that can be found in all things, though at different stages in his existence he might come to emphasize different aspects of it over others.

Starting Plane:  Mishway

Name: Ordek
Greater Domain: Fate
Moderate Domains (up to 2): War, Violence.
Lesser Domains (up to 4):
 Victory, Swamps, Vengeance.
Physical Appearance: In his natural form, Ordek appears as a shapeable ball of pale, almost ghostly light.  This light can be shaped into whatever shape Ordek wills it to be. The light itself is pale and does not generally cast much illumination. Ordek can also manifest himself in a humanoid shape which appears as a robed figure with a hat and walking stick, almost like a normal traveler. Almost, save for the fact that he is missing one eye and his only remaining eye is pale, looking almost exactly the same as his true form.
Symbol: A single flame surrounded by a black background.
Personality/Core Concept: When the universe was formed, there was an initial violent thought. From this thought, Ordek was created. Representing violence and the swamps he makes his home, Ordek believes that violence is the best thing ever and will do anything to cause it. He does not take sides in any conflict; rather, he simply instigates it and either watches or participates while secretly serving both sides. He also is the patron of Fate, especially when applied to war, and views himself as an instrument of fate in any conflict.
World of Origin: Culthet
A word on admissions:

It's awesome that everyone is so psyched to get involved with this game. That's great.

We're not going back to the "domain broadcast, whoever gets it gets it method" we had last game, but we are going to try and gradually sprinkle in players rather than throw everyone in at once.

The important thing is, if you're interested in joining, POST IN THIS THREAD. When we're ready to add new players, we'll use the order of the posts in this thread*.

*As you may have gathered, we're trying something new this game with the "Dual Worlds" morphology. As long as the worlds remain split (before the titular WorldWarp), admins reserve the right to delay players from joining if their arrival would skew the population distribution too much. After the WorldWarp, this won't be an issue.

Generally, we will accept people on Sundays. For more information on what that means for your personal ascensions, please consult the wiki.

Name
Siliis (sih-LEES).  Sil for short.

Domains
Greater:  Insects
Moderate:  Charm, Poison
Lesser:  Transformation, Beauty, Community, Manipulation

Physical Appearance
A large, brown, eyeless slug with violet suppurating sacs on it's body.  All gross and slick with slugjuice it burrows out of sight once it's born, using a proxy to carry out it's will.

Symbol
A hexagon circumscribed about a square.

Personality/Core Concept
It is a reclusive beast with an agenda and quickly uses the pheromones it secrets from it's sacs to influence the minds of mortals to do it's will.  It doesn't want to be trapped in this form forever and longs for a more beautiful existence rather than it's current repulsive appearance.

Physical Appearance: A vaguely humanoid cloud of darkness with two glowing red eyes.

Huh, looks like we have mostly old-hands, aside from you. Oh well, I hope you'll have fun.

Anywho, down to business.

Name: Harkon Armal

Domains
Greater:
Water
Moderate: Civilization, Travel
Lesser: Forests, Caverns, Wind, Rain

Symbol: A spear being thrown into water. This is most commonly reduced a line representing the spear intersecting a wavy line that represents the water.

Appearance: A featureless globe of clear water

Starting Plane: Culthet

Concept: I will generally be working with a theme of "development" for Harkon. He will be starting out as a boring globe of water, but his physical appearance will evolve throughout the game, and I will be trying to have his personality and domains evolve as well. I suppose this is a little bit of a throwback to older LoC games, though in this particular case I have a decent idea of where I will be heading with him. The domains listed in italics above are ones that for the intent of RPing I will be "adding" latter; Harkon will only envision himself as "water" at first, though I hope to be maneuvering him towards the other domains over time. Those aren't set in stone, however, as he will be influenced by those around him.

EDIT: Oh, do we still need to PM the admins or is this enough for now?

Oh, this is enough for now.  The PMing of admins is more there for later when someone's post here might get overlooked.

Welcome, Kal!

Nice to feel the warm welcome to a newcomer. Can't wait until Sunday so I can start.

Been reading over the wiki that Thought's been so kind as to update. I don't know if Thought has caught this during the editting process, but I've noticed that Mishway has two gods with the major domain of Death. Now I realize that it's not on a "first come, first serve" basis anymore, but this is going to cause a bit of confusion. Hopefully this can be resolved peacefully, or we may just get to test out those divine conflict rules.
Oh... we know about it.  We've (hopefully) designed the portfolio system in such a way that while each player is a god of 'death', they are gods of different aspects of death.  I fully expect potential conflict, though

And yes, hunter!  Hurry up and, well... hurry!

Yes, both Ara and Aldii wanted to play gods of death in the same world. (Oddly enough they also have butterflies).

It is okay to have repeat domains, though as long as the two players can work it out peacefully, and neither Aldii nor Ara are known for being impossible to reason with Smile

Just to clarify, only those first six are cleared to post/ascend. So it might not be this upcoming Sunday that you end up starting. Don't worry though, it shan't be long regardless.
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one. Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.
Name: Daxos
Domains:
Greater: Darkness
Moderate: Nightmares, Wilderness
Lesser: Fear, Hunters, Courage, Challenges.
Starting Plane: Mishway

Daxos is a considered by many a dark malicious god, or a powerful and uncaring faerie lord, he rule the darkness of night, creep in the shadowy places within the deepest primal fears of mortals and represent both the dangers of the night, the ones of the wilderness and the terror of getting lost and lone. Daxos, however, is also the challenger, he is far more content when mortal manage to defeat and channel their primal fear turning it into a weapon, then when his guiles and horrors triumph, for the god of fear Courage is not lack of it, but its mastery. He is a god ready to punish as he is to reward, granting dark boons of hyronic curses to those that manage to earn his attention. For him each monstrous spawn that that he creates is nothing but a test, something that, when overcomed, make the victor stronger and culls the weak.

Some prays to applease him, hoping not to face his gaze, others to gain help in finding their path in the wilds or within the darkness of their minds.

He is an entity ruled by fear somehow, that one day all the preparation that he has imposed on the world will become useful in some sort of terrifying conflict...

Appearance: Daxos has many forms, but he is not a true shapeshifter, somehow he is confined by his own domain. He can appear as a thin but muscled man, dressed in fine white clothes adorned with jewelry with dark black gems, his eyes are black with no iris and his ears nearly elven in apperance, his hair and well cured mustaches and beard are black as night. He also appear as a massive black wolf or cat, an hybrid between a mortal and one of those beasts, or a flock of black ravens. Rarely he looks like a knight whose dark armor covers completely his features, finally he can appear as a pool of liquid and oily darkness, when something manage to cut his skin the same darkness pour from it, making sages speculate that it is the god true form.

Symbol: Daxos symbols varies, however they almost always include a black orb or ring, for his more feral spawn it is a white fang impressed on a dark disk with the black somehow "eroding" the fang, for the others it usually is a white shield and a ring with a dark gem. More esoteric cults use simply an osidian orb.

Totemic Items and Beasts: wolves, cats, ravens, rings, orbs, obsidian.

Spells and sorceries inspired by Daxos usually employ components coming from a dangerous beast or acquired by risking something, including personal sanity, chants and ritualized prayers are less common than wilder dances and tests of courage in his cerimonies. Spells of his shamans and priests are usually inscribed on skin (including scrolls) and not in stone. Drugs that induces sleep or nightmarish hallucinations are not uncommon among those who woship him, dreams are the most common way to commune with the god and gleam some of his teachings.

And here I had this great idea for an overprotective and insular goddess of the forests... *whistles innocently*

I think Mishway
Aldii -- your create plane action is invalid. Create plane is not allowed during the first Era.
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one. Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.
Oh...hmm...but it isn´t a plane in that way. It´s merely a home for my God and a way to make an after-life possible.

Do you have any proposals on what kind of actions I can do to make this possible without breaking the rules?
I would suggest a mold action. After the Second Era begins, you can use a modify action to turn it into a separate plane.
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one. Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.
Am I yet allowed to let the three gates act as a portal to the after-life? Even though it´s a mold action?
Yeah, I think thats the most reasonable.  Have all the souls go to the 'valley of... dim' or something, and eventually move them to beyond the scope of the mortal plane once mortals start stumbling into this ghost-filled valley and mucking things up
Sure, I'm fine with that.  Just move them all wholesale into the plane once you make it.

If it is not too late, perhaps mortal artifacts might work better? Those can be "portals" to other places; the "other place" that these portals would connect to just happens to be in the future.

Well, yeah.  If you intend to have them stay in the mortal plane and act as portals, then... mortal artifact is probably the way to go... if they're just decorative... then... yeah.
