This thread is for discussion of this week's From the Lab, which goes live Thursday morning on magicthegathering.com.

The Spitemare is looking for a Furnace of Rath.

[q=Noel deCordova] The Lotus Cobra makes four mana, and provided that your lands enter the battlefield untapped, you can tap them for another four. [/q]

But Realm Razer returns the lands to play tapped, so you probably need to remove 8 of them. Extra points for removing Kabira Crossroads.

(Sorry, I've edited this several times now and can't figure out how to make an autocard link.)

Yes, but Mephidross Vampire is less intuitive.

Even though making an arbirarily large creature is less useful than dealing an arbitrary amount of damage, I'm very impressed. Also, with just the Vampire and the Spitemare and something that does 1 or 2 damage, you can make it arbitrarily large and you don't even need the Dauntless Escort.

Octopus Cleric
Antelope Avatar
Homarid Cheiftan

I would love to see any of these classes... and don't give the homarid a weird ability like homarid shaman
Boar Berserker
Ape Assembly-Worker
Whale Assassin
Egg Advisor

And so on...

Shameless Self-Promotion

These are the MTG Fiction pieces I have written:

Rite of Passage because it is green

also

Ninja Specter or Spirit Ninja

This little thought ditty intrigues me: What race / class combination can you think of (using existing creature types only) that rivals Rhino Soldier for sheer badassness?

Easy, and it's not even made-up.

Realm Razer returns lands tapped... unfortunately.

However, Blasting Station could work to pop your Razer just befoe you untap (end of opponent's turn) thus allowing you to untap all of your lands.  Do something with them, then replay your Razer for full effect.

Or Lotus Cobra plus Razer plus Flickerform? Flickerwisp?   All the lands will come into play just long enough to trigger Lotus Cobra dumping a lot of mana into your mana pool.  Then they'll blink out again.  Since all lands come in tapped, even your opponent's won't get a chance to use them.  No lands in play, and only you with mana in your mana pool.

It takes at least 3 mana to get it going...
You know... it would probably be just better to pop the Realm Razer with Lotus Cobra on the battlefiled during your own turn.  The lands will come back into play tapped, but you'll still get all the mana (of any color) from Cobra.

Then you can play a game-changing sorcery like.... i don't know... Cruel Ultimatum?   That will kill your opponent's plan while returning your Razer to your hand ready to replay the next turn.

Sure, your opponent gets a chance to untap ty try something.  But you are probably on track to game-winning card advantage at that point.  You can continually shut down their lands by replaying Razer.

Makeshift Mannequin means you can do it all at instant speed, should you feel the need.
plant wizard or plant cleric

but especially: unicorn soldier, unicorn shaman, unicorn wizard... etc. if elephants and rhinos can be humanoid and fully classed with their ridiculously awkward heads (for god's sake!), then we can easily reclaim unicorns from the "dumb animal that sacs to do stuff" camp. yes, i know i am probably the only one who wants this.
Why on earth would you play Krosan Verge over Naya Panorama... The panorama actually fetches all 3 of your colors, costs 1 less to sac, and doesn't come into play tapped... and gives up nothing for this? It seems like it would pretty much be a direct upgrade.

Krosan Verge searches for a Forest AND a Plains.
Sphinx Assassin.
Octopus Berserker.
Elf Monk.
ooh! octopus berserker!
I like Giants, but pretedning it's an adjective
Giant Wizard
Giant Assassin
Giant Advisor
etc
How dare you mention Spitemare and other cards of the same nature without mentioning the godfather Stuffy Doll!
I for one would absolutely do terrible un-godly thing to see a Beeble Berserker. Or perhaps a Ferret Ninja (which raises the question: Ferret Ninja or Ferret Pirate, which is wins?) or Frog Archon. I see the Frog Archon having some evil, sacrifice a frog destroy target creature with flying ability.

I like assassins as well, but part of me always feels like a "Treefolk Assassin" is someone that kills Treefolk for a living, not a giant walking tree that kills other people.
i would do unspeakable evil to see more frogs in general, and with classes. some of my favorite cards are frogs.
There are several fascinating race/class combos that I'm glad exist, such as the aforementioned Plant Zombie, and other plants that have classes associated with them, like Plant Walls and Plant Elephants.  I'm also a fan of the Coiling Oracle's Snake Elf Druid type and pretty much any other type that uses double classes or races in it's types, like Human Druid Warriors (Steward of Valeron).
One combo I'd like to see instituted, probably as a human class is a Ninja Wizard. I would definitely build a deck of Ninja Wizards.
i doubt more ninjas are coming. it's sad you can't make a very good ninja deck without resorting to putting other things in it.

i never noticed the steward, that is really cool. i, too, am a fan of double class/races like coiling oracle.
Elephant Rouge would be the coolest of them all. Or some Insect Giant Cleric :P

Deadnought Avatar.
Elemental Dragon.
Demon Advisor.
Angel Assassin.
Angel Skeleton.
Golem Artificer.
Construct Assassin.
Child Incarnation.
Human Beast.
it's very strange demon advisor hasn't existed yet. i mean...demons are always advising and tutoring people in spells. strange that we haven't seen

At the beginning of your upkeep, search your library for a card and put it into your hand. you lose 5 life.

OR

1B, pay 5 life: search your library for a card and put it into your hand.

5/5

or something like that.
I love Nantuko Husk: Insect Zombies

I don't know if it's correct in the sense of race/class.
zombie is sort of both a race and a nonrace nonclass modifier.

For Spitemare, add lifelink to it, and you have infinite life, seeing as it is nearly unkillable for a turn.

I want:
Eye Knight
Yeti Assassin
Rabbit Horror

All quite terrifiying..

Noggle Artificer

Ok that one makes too much sense.

(White has a Giant Wizard, for that dude that wanted one.)
