What Race/Class/Region are your Characters?

Well there is the "cliche" thread, and it got me thinking about what classes and races people are actually playing, rather than looking at what people are percieving as popular based entirely on their own local group.

To get started mine are:

Half-Elf/Swordmage (MC:Wizard)/Dragon Coast (Human - Ancestral Holdings +2 Diplomacy Benefit)

Tiefling/Sorcerer (MC:Bard)/Akanûl (Akanûl Benefit)

Spyke, Bladeling/Monk/Born on Another Plane (benefit, don't remember the region off-hand) 1
I also have a whole 'family' of divine classes all from Luskan.  All sisters of the Rogue above that haven't been played named Lilly, Violet, Daisy, Iris, etc. .

Sorry WOTC, you lost me with Essentials. So where I used to buy every book that came out, now I will be very choosy about what I buy. Can we just get back to real 4e? Check out the 4e Conversion Wiki. 1. Wizards fight dirty. They hit their enemies in the NADs. -- Dragon9 2. A barbarian hits people with his axe. A warlord hits people with his barbarian. 3. Boo-freakin'-hoo, ya light-slingin' finger-wigglers. -- MrCelcius in response to the Cleric's Healer's Lore nerf

And that sums up all of my played characters, and wow, apparently if I have no background in mind I just default to akanul for something everyone can use, Maybe I should read some more background benefits lol.

**edited to add this**
Character I've made with intent to play but am waiting for WITR to start them up.
Corwyn Biggins - Gnome Telepathy Psion - Waterdeep - No god
Martin Blank - Kenku Night Stalker Assassin - Amn - Tymora
Calath - Dragonborn Bravura Warlord - Tymanther - Tempus

Apparently I've grown out of Akanul as a background in my more recent characters =P

(p.s. use shift-enter between lines of characters to go just one line and avoid the ridiculous white space)

Blah blah blah

11 Celran. Half-Elf Feylock M/C Wizard from Waterdeep (scion of a once-noble family trying to regain his heritage).
10 Ardrim. Human Battle Cleric from Aglarond (orphan, adopted by Dwarves, so worships Moradin).
8   Belryn. Dwarf Guardian Fighter from the East Rift (fits well for Dwarves: she intends to return some day to help the Dwarves reclaim their ancestral homes).
6   Thredor. Human Thaneborn Barbarian from Calimshan (mountain barbarians seem to be the norm, so I wanted a desert dervish type).
3   Norry. Halfling Storm Sorcerer M/C Rogue from Luskan (grew up on the mean streets - a petty thief by nature since he had to be to survive. Driven out of the city when his powers manifested).
2   Sorla. Human Prescient Bard M/C Cleric from Tarmalune (Mini campaign character; the Tarmalune benefit is a nice fit for bards).

Elf archer ranger, Impiltur [for HP]
Halfling protecting paladin, Waterdeep [for Diplomacy boost]
Gnoll guardian fighter, Aglarond [for Perception]
Dragonborn battle cleric, Akanul [for resistances]
Human war wizard (staff), Thay [for HP]
Minotaur rageblood barbarian, Baldur's Gate [for role-playing]
Longtooth shifter druid, Great Dale [for skills]
Dragonborn dragon sorcerer, Tymanther [for role-playing]
Deva isolating avenger, Waterdeep [for Diplomacy]
Firesoul genasi resourceful warlord, Akanul [for resistances]

Human Cleric of Amaunator (Chessenta, because nothing else seemed to fit)
Eladrin Wizard (Luskan, he's a Thief by trade and design)
Dragonborn Paladin of Amaunator (Waterdeep, rasied by an orphanage)
Warforged Fighter (Windrise Ports, an escaped Gladiator who needed the extra MC slot for the build)
Elven Rogue (Windrise Ports, he is a spiked chain specialist who needed the extra MC slot)
Halfling Rogue (Nelanther Isles, "Waldo Tosscobble" is a traveling circus performer...)

Each of these has a strong 'personality' that I roleplay. The cleric is aggressive/pious, the eladrin is precise/intellectual, the dragonborn is naive/chivalric, the warforged is fatalistic/brutally efficient, the elf is silent/grim (rather like an oriental ninja, and only played when my wife plays her ninja-type as well), the halfling is cheerful/outgoing.

My list is long

Wait, are Warforged even legal in LFR?  Tongue out

I just have one character myself, Level 3 Dwarf Paladin from Cormyr.

What makes me sad - no more compiled magazines: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/27580349/Dungeon_and_Dragon_Magazine_PDFs&post_num=24#495423645

Vladmire - Reverant/Shad-kai  Warlock Akaule.
Fool King - Gnoll Bard Waterdeep
Cheshire Cat - Changeling Assassin Akaule.

I'd get along more with people if they didn't jump onto a hyberbole every single time you say something they don't understand.

Each of these has a strong 'personality' that I roleplay.

That's how I challenge myself, with my stable of seemingly similar characters.  I strive to make them memorably different from each other (with varied success).  If I sat down at a table without saying which PC I was playing, almost everyone in my local club could tell you if it was the Warlock or the Bard from 3 minutes of RP.

I don't generally pre-define personalities for my characters, though - except maybe in a very vague kind of way (|grossed out by/fascinated by/jealous of/attempts to mimic| biological functions for instance).  I prefer to play with them a couple of times and see what develops.

I'm still trying to hone in on the critical personality elements for a couple of them, but others leapt into my mind fully fleshed from adventure number one.

Not a ton of "played" characters yet. Though I do have a stable of characters I've created in Character Builder.

Anyhow, my "played" characters are:

  1. Human/Cleric(devoted)/Aglarond

  2. Human/Wizard(staff)/Aglarond

  3. Genasi(stormsoul)/Swordmage(defending)/Akanul

  4. Warforged/Barbarian(rageblood)/Tarmalune or Windrise Ports (can't remember off the top of my head)

I imagine with so many of the same race, it must be a lot harder to try and differentiate between them. Usually, when I build them I have a basic personality in mind - in practice that usually changes a little, and sometimes a whole lot. My dragonborn paladin is a good example of that. He started out as a sort of parody on the whole knight-in-shining-armour-out-to-slay-a-dragon-and-rescue-the-damsel thing. He had a horse that was completely unsuited as a 'heroic steed', an awful british accent (Cockney, actually...), and he was somewhat confused by the whole 'defender' theory. He's become a much more serious and noble character, and I've improved his accent after being choked (twice) by my friend from England while playing at the table. Laughing

And *I* get flack for having four 11's =P  I can't get into any dang paragon games though =(  How has paragon felt so far for you in LFR Dkay? PM if you don't want to derail this too much =)

Blah blah blah

In order created:
1. Drom Battlecaller, Dwarven Tactical Warlord (Eartfast Brigadier) 12, East Rift, battle leader hero and sworn of Gorm Gulthyn (dead god), member of the Company of the Sundered Hall.
2. Zelendri Xorlarrin, Drow Dark Pact Warlock (Hexer) 14, Waterdeep, secretly seeking ways to return Mask from the shadows and to punish those responsible, while veiling his motives from other heroes.
3. Drihn Foolmaker, Dwarven Valorous Bard 8, ale-cursed dwarven bard who gets everyone else drunk when he consumes the ale he is cursed not to taste. From the Vilhon Wilds.
4. Keldra Chainbreaker, Dwarven Brutal Scoundrel Rogue 9, a dwarven bolthrower (superior crossbow), enemy of the Durpari. An escaped slave, she swore to her dad she would fight evil and wield his crossbow... even if she just wants a hot cup of cocoa.
5. Solieth, Deva Invoker (preservation) 5, of Chessenta, praising Amaunator for granting him the vision to see how the world will end and charging him with preparing it for the event.
6. Ulna Thos, Shadar-Kai Artificer 3, of Akanul, giving of herself and suffering pain, that others may live.
7. Phinneas Pebblebottom, Gnome Psion 3, of Tarmalune, male genius gambler (broke) trapped in a female body... one of many misshaps that somehow plagued him.
8. Yokai, Kenku Assassin, 1, of Luskan (via the Golden Way and Dragon Coast), a spy gone rogue.

Lumkin Steelhand, Gnome Shielding Swordmage from East Rift, level 10. MC'd Cleric and soon to be a Coronal Guard. He's short, fast, hard to hit, and full off surprises.  Think Yoda, if Yoda was sarcastic, had a bit of a foul mouth and a serious Napoleon complex.

Gregor, Half Orc Valorous Bard from Chesenta, Level 6. MC's Barbarian and Paladin. He's size and strength is matched only by his powerful voice. His melodious tones can inspire in battle and sooth flaring tempers.

Nik Stale, 11th level Stormsoul Genasi Orb Wizard (Divine Philosopher) from Akanul

Yotian the warforged fighter from Luruar (5th level) "I come from the mountain made from ice and snow."

Please, please, please tell me you say that quote and then launch into that Zeppelin scream, because I really would like to see that at a con.

(I used to do whale noises when my LG ranger used his Embrace the Wild spell to gain echolocation... eventually my buddies would speak in 'whale' from table to table at cons, pretty funny.)
