Access to the current Magic Online client (aka V3) to be turned off on July 16, 2014

In his article last week, Executive Producer for Magic Online, Worth Wollpert, announced the official shut off of the current Magic Online client on July 16, 2014. Turning off the current client means that, as of July 16, we will remove the beta tag, and that client will become the only way to play Magic Online. Worth talks about how user feedback has, and will continue to, aid us in improving the beta client, as well as our plans for further advancement in the future. Read Worth's article for the full details.

Magic Online 12th Anniversary Events

Did you think we forgot our 12th Anniversary? Absolutely not! We're celebrating big and we're doing it in style. Events begin Wednesday, July 2 and continue through Friday, July 25! Beginning Wednesday, July 2, players will have a chance to win an invite to the Anniversary Event Finals by participating in a series of qualifiers that highlight different sets from Magic Online's history, switching up the sets players will be competing with each day of the event! The Holiday Cube (in July!) will be running as well, beginning on Wednesday, July 16 and running through Friday, July 25 alongside a paired Modern Masters Flashback Draft!

Head on over to the Magic Online 12th Anniversary article for all of the event details!

Magic 2015 Core Set Prerelease begins Wednesday, July 25

Magic 2015 Core Set Prerelease Events begin Wednesday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time and continue through July 28.

Once Magic Online returns from downtime on Wednesday, July 23, players will have 35 Phantom Points and one each of the five "Hunt" entry objects added to their accounts if they've been active on Magic Online between 2008, and the downtime on July 23. Due to the giveaway, Entry Objects for M15 Prerelease and Release Events will not be refundable.

Players will be able to use their Phantom Points and entry objects to enter the new Prerelease Sealed Events. Join the Friendly Sealed Event if you're looking to experiment with the new set, have fun, and have a better chance at walking away with a booster or two. If it's fierce competition and a steeper prize payout you're after, the Competitive Sealed Event will be more your speed. To be clear, unlike other events that use Phantom Points as an entry option, players will be able to keep their cards from these Prerelease Events after they end!

Check out the Magic 2015 Core Set Prerelease and Release Events article for all of the details!

Vintage Masters Events Continue

Vintage Masters Daily Events, Premier Events, and Draft Queues continue after the downtime on Wednesday, July 2. The only difference will be that they will no longer have participation prizes.
