The FF is a great source. just make sure its not been done b4.

I'd love to see the cathulu stuff form dd converted. That stuff is always ripe for a campaign. Just think of the possibilities.  A small village where no one dies, but at what price? The dead come back? who knows. I recently went back to my parents house for a visit and dug up tons of cathulu books and comics I'm debating on whether or not to read them to my 8 year old son as bed time stories. I know that sounds sadistic, but he's pretty into monster movies and the macabre.

A Straight conversion doesn't really work (the maths behind the systems is just too different - i/e $the d pays attention to it, the really old editions didn't really).. I use the creatures hit dice as a guide for what level to make the creature, and then just try to recreate the feel of the creature through its powers and abilities.. then follow the guidelines in the DMG to fill out the AC etc..

If you have any 4E conceptual issues or rules that you would like help with feel free to PM me.
