This weekend is a Dungeons & Dragons Games Day.
We're going to kick this season off at Cheap Thrills with character creation using the D&D playtest rule system.

This is a great opportunity for players to finally play the playtest rules before the release of D&D Next in the summer of 2014. Consider it a part of histoy!

You're character will be led into the Sword Coast in Faerûn, meeting important characters that are shaping the realms. This event is known as the Sundering.

I am looking for six players to join the table! We'll be continuing the adventure at Cheap Thrills for around 13 weeks, every Wednesday at around 18:00.

If your interested please let me know soon. Don't worry about bringing anything to the events. Entry is £4 for the 22nd February and £2 every Wednesday.

Character creation will begin on the 22nd. I'll be you're DM and guide you through your own story that you can decide the outcome.

The Sundering, the era of upheaval.

Daggerford, a town with a reputable ale and plenty of taverns are shutting their gates to all refuges who are trying to find safety along the sword coast.

Four adventurers arrive by mid afternoon with caravan, soldiers and refugees. But the Duke has ordered the gates closed and not to let any more, refugees into Daggerford, unless he finds who is responsible for stealing the The Delimbyr Bloke, an ancient relic, from the Duke's collection.

Tension rises from the guards, the men of families become threatening, a crowd of a hundred refuges face guards and our adventurers push through the crowd. They can see the events about to unfold, a frustrated guard armed with a crossbow fires a bolt into one of the refuges into the crowd.

Amendil rushes to the aid, he is an elderly man who appreciates the help, refuges flee, some throw rocks. The central captain regains control of the crowd and with gentle persuasion by the half elf Ivellios, accepts a treaty and lets twenty refuges into town.

Ivellios later that night, brings food to the refugees, still outside the towns walls. Fish, fruit and vegetables, as well as some fresh game caught on the Duke's land by some hunters offer much needed sustenance.

Meanwhile Coud Van Gerat Aikaiou and Leohand are tasting the fine ales of Daggerford, getting drunk and losing coin...

Jakk

~~
The Sundering, the era of upheaval.

Thee adventurers head out along the northern road after a nights drinking. They search for a dwarf named Jakk, whom is supposedly linked to the Delimbiyr Bloke, an item from the Ducal Collection.
Ivellios tracks Jakk down and the adventurers catch up with him, he hasn't much to say but the adventurers tell he is not lying when he says he would like to know what the quartzite blocks importance is, and his mission is to talk to the Priestesses at Firehammer Hold.
The adventurers return back to Daggerford, questions loom in their heads as to whom was responsible and they visit Captain Sherlon, and request official 'investigatory' papers and a meeting with the Duke himself, to question him regarding who it is he suspects. Meanwhile the guards are overturning the Shanties, obviously the Duke is still convinced the refugees are to blame, but he sees the wisdom in Ivellios' words, grants them further search documents and a guard escort to act as an overseer. He also offers a large sum on returning the Delimbiyr Bloke to his magnificent collection.
The group of adventurers, currently unknown to them, are getting closer to the truths. They search for a man called Alven Gissen. Alven is missing, becoming their new primary suspect.

Floshin

The Sundering, the era of upheaval.

Our adventurers wait, till the following morning, in the coastal town of Daggerford. They have decided to attempt to meet with the legendary Sir Isteval, who is due, to arrive home from the City of Splendours, Waterdeep.
In the early dawn, guards report that Sir Isteval has been spotted and will be entering Daggerford soon. So, the Half Elf Ivellios leads the party outside the front gates and when Sir Isteval rides over with his companions, Ivellious politely asks for further information regarding their primary suspect whom the adventurers believe stole the Delimbyr Bloke.

Their suspect is Alven Gissen, a tradesman clergyman of Amanateur whom has recently made plaster casts of the artefact that thieves stole from the Ducal collection.

After the morning is through, the adventurers mill around the houses, waiting to set off to continue their adventure the next day. They visit a couple of taverns and end up talking to a lady called Natyssa, one of Alvens good friends in town. After hearing her relief that someone is looking for Alven, they finish up the night in the Lady Luck with some losing streaks, obviously not blessed by Tymora that night, they head to bed.

The morning they prepare horses for a ride out to Firehammer Hold, in the stables a small Elven ranger spot the courageous adventurers and overhears of their plans to gain the Bloke from Firehammer Hold. Seeing the opportunity for one of his first adventures the Elf, named Legolas, heads to the front gates and wait for their departure. When they leave he asks the party to let him join and they accept.

They ride North for a full day and by night find an abandoned farm-shed, they cautiously enter the homely building, although it has seen better days. Legolas enters first through the front door, Cou taking his back, sword and shield raised. The bard, Amendil, casts a dancing lights spell, little fairies guide the way with brilliant golden light.

They see a deserted room, stairs lead up and stairs lead down behind a cellar door under the wooden staircase. After securing the ground floor, the bard, begins to tap with the hilt of his sword, suspicious of hidden rooms or traps, after several attempts of hitting nothing but common bookshelves the end of his sword goes through an illusion, breaking the spell revealing to them a female tiefling. Outside Ivellios stood guarding their horses spots a small group of orc wolf riders.
Ivellios proceeds to run downstairs and warn the group, who are stood there in a stunned awkward silence, of the incoming danger, taking little notice of the tiefling. The adventures and the tiefling rush upstairs and outside the farmstead to confront the oncoming threat.
Ivellios and Legolas fire a few shots in the direction of the wolf riders, at the speed they travel only 1 makes it to it’s target doing little damage to a wolf, in the mean time Coud takes position at the head of the party, Leohand readies himself too and Amendil prepares a spell, while Legolas scouts the south side of the house for a vantage point.
The tiefling runs towards the north side of the farm, Ivellios unshure of her intentions peruses her. Coud and Leohand brace and bare the initial charge of the wolf riders, Coud bearing the majority of the damage.  After the tiefling has proven her intentions trustworthy by assisting in the fight with the orcs she gains the trust of the group. The fight continues, orcs dying, the first to be gravely wounded is Coud who took on the most hostiles, including the orc leader. Ivellios finally finishes off the orc leader with an arrow slotting in the weak points in his armour. A large section of the wolves leave the centre over towards Legoas who after valiantly fighting them off with his torch falls bloodied to the floor. The tiefling cast a spell, causing fear, making orcs, wolves and Amendil flee away from her. Leohand goes the aid of Coud, while Ivellios and the tiefling take on the wolf that took down Legolas. With Coud stabilised Amendil proceeds to help Legolas, stabilising him too. The rest of the adventures proceed to finish off the rest of the aggressors, putting an end to this bloody conflict.
After the battle the female tiefling, having earned the trust of the party, introduces herself, Violetta is her name and she had been staying in the farmstead continuing with her research. Violetta is accepted into the group and agrees joins them on their quest.

-----------------------------

The Sundering, the era of upheaval.
After recovering arrows and regrouping our weary and wounded adventures decide to stay the night in the farmstead, after some disagreement in which room they wanted to stay in rested their tired bones. The following morning as the sun started to rise into the sky the adventures set off on their horses towards the Floshin Estate. Coud and Leohand at the head of the group, Ivellios and their new found companion Violetta in the middle and Amendil and Legolas bringing up the rear. Their travel is going well as they taking in the relaxing sounds of the forest to their west and view over the cliffs to the east. The adventures proceed to enter a ravine when suddenly arrows whizzes from the forest hitting Coud in the thigh.  Startled the group speeds off fleeing towards the Northen end of the ravine, arrows flying over their heads, Ivellios recognises them as orc or goblin arrows. As they gallop towards safetly, a roge arrow strikes the weak point in the rear shoulder of Coud armour, the impact rendering him unconscious and knocking him off the horse, Leohand stabilises Coud and helps him back on the horse, together they continue towards safety. A fallen tree is blocking the path out of the ravine; Leohand and Coud make it over safely. Ivellios and Violetta make it over, the horse clipping the tree stumbling on landing but both managed to stay steady on the horse. Amendil and Legolas make it over too, Legolas considering returning fire but deciding against it as he is only vaguely aware of where the arrows are coming from.
The last few shafts sail past the adventures as they continue with renewed haste towards the Floshin Estate. As they arrive at the estate, which displayed beautiful elven architecture, slate roof, golden griffin statues and the soothing sounds of a waterfall in the distance.
As the group approaches, they find the defensive wooden door laying open and portcullis raised, with no one around. The adventures dismount their horses, Ivellios, Violetta, Amendil and Legolas stand around preparing to introduce themselves, having understanding elven hospitality. Coud and Leohand, having less manners and less suspicion towards the unguarded open door, brazenly walk in.
As the pair entre the portcullis slams down towards them Leohands’ reflexes safe him from the falling portcullis, Coud is not so lucky, he falls and a one of the pointed end of the portcullis slams into the lower section of his leg, nearly severing it. An arrow pings out of a slot towards Leohand, who nimbly doges out of the way, bouncing off the other end of the entryway. Violetta and Ivellios address the unknown attackers in elvish, saying they mean no harm and that they do not want conflict. Leohand throws down his arms and put his hands up in the air as a gesture of peace. As a response a door opens and out comes a dred warrior who swings his axe a Leohand drawing blood but not a deep wound. Leohand dives towards his weapons and grabs his quarterstaff attempting to hit the aggressor with no sucess. Legolas proceeds to try and lift up the portcullis with but it is too heavy for him to lift. Amendil uses magic to take some of the pain away from Coud and stemming some the bleeding from his leg. Ivellios proceeds to run up to the portcullis with Violetta, Ivellios takes a shot hitting the dred warrior, causing damage but not fazing him, Violetta casts a frost spell but misses. Coud with his new found strength lifts up the portcullis, Legolas slides under it and takes a shot at the dred warrior, it hits but lacked the strength to pierce his armour and bounces off.
Under the gate Violetta casts a spell blinding the warrior, who proceeds to swing widely at Leohand, which makes contact with Leoahands upper body throwing him to the ground, bleeding out and losing consciousness. Out of the door a gnoll appears, Ivellios takes a shot at the gnoll, missing, Violetta casts another spell which also misses. Legolas fires another shot at the dred warrior, hitting him in the chest finally killing him.
Leohand having been patched up by Amendils magic, casts a spell of his own, punching an eltrocuted fist into a sensitive part of the gnolls lower regions. Legolas plunges a dagger deep in the back of the gnoll, meanwhile Coud having dropped the portcullis back on his leg manages to free himself, and pulls himself up, attempting a charge, but when he put pressure on his healing leg starts to fall, but it is enough for his sword to impact, his sword slicing through the neck of the gnoll, killing it. Couds’ leg healed the adventures prepare for what will happen next.

~The adventures rest and recuperate. Leohand mends the wounds on the human Coud. The party head through the gate of the Floshin estate and move inside, Leohand stays at the gate to keep watch for any more knoll or goblins that may return to their new lair. Ivellios keen to learn some of the arcane knowledge the library offers to lead them inside, and they do, followed by Violetta, Legolas, Amandil and Coud. They enter to find a spiral staircase leading down; they go down one floor and  into a corridor with three doors leading off in different directions. in front of one of the doors stands two sets of plate armour, Legolas intrigued by the value of the plate armour decides to try some on, but is smashed in the face with the gaunlet of one. Both suits of armour attack.
The party splits of through different doors, Ivellios tries to sneak away, followed by Violetta and Amandil go through the door behind them, Coud heads through the door to the door to the South West. This leads Coud to a rather dull room with not much in it, to the South he can see the library. He sees in the room what looks like an earth elementals’ head sticking out of a flower pot, which he proceeds to pet, and has a nice view over the estates garden and surprisingly does all this without being  gravely wounded.
Legolas still fighting the enchanted armour runs through the door after Ivellios, Violetta and Amandil. Amanadil following Legolas’s example spends his time pocketing the Floshin Elves silver wear. Legolas runs through the room ducks past Violetta and Ivellios and goes and hides in the toilet, One of the enchanted armour hits Violetta in the back of her head throwing her to the ground. Ivellios surprised at Legolas cowardly actions and realising that they’re not going to slip away turns draws his katana and attacks one of the enchanted armour striking it, the other enchanted armour comes over to join the fight, Violetta  gets to her feet attempting to fight the armour but stagers as she stands and the attacks with the quarter staff misses and a blow from one of the armours renders her unconscious. Ivellios frights with the armour getting wounded but not going down. Coud hearing of the commotion and tired of petting the asleep elemental travels back and charges the rear of the enchated armours, disabling one and taking the others attention. Ivellios turns his attention to Violetta stabilizing her. Coud fights on with the enchanted armour landing a blow and rendering it useless.
With the group reunited and a majority of the group wanting to slap Legolas, they settle down to spend their evening and the night at the Floshin estate. Ivellios spends his time before sleep in the library and successfully learns a few choice spells.
