I was just prepping for tonights game with my group in Julkoun and realised that the stats for Bugbears are in the monster appendices, not a major problem as they're in the main Bestiary, but....

I already have a Bugbear conversion within my document if you need it (I see that you are running 7 - 9). My beastiary is pretty near completion, only 14 more to go and a revamp of the spell casters. Taking longer than I hoped but should be done by this weekend.

We're running as written, level 2's - but just re-downloaded my copy and looks like my first version missed page 64 for some reason - got them now :-)

My mistake, I saw the 7-9 players and thought it was levels. That is what I get for reading when I am a bit resty.

Following last season's finale several of our players were left feeling uneasy at having to fight against their friends during the game so after discussion we adapted the following from the LFR Campaign Guidelines, so I thought I'd share it here.

Leicester Dungeons & Dragons Encounters Role Play Group.
Basic Expectations
Different people have different play styles, and that’s part of what makes organized play interesting. Nevertheless, in a worldwide campaign, everyone needs to agree to a few ground rules. This section includes some general guidelines that all Encounters participants need to follow.
• We’re all here to have fun. The most fundamental rule is that everybody, including the DM, is at the table to have fun. Rules disputes, tactical debates, and even those tough in-character story
decisions can cause the game to come to a screeching halt if people start to take things personally or become antagonistic or abusive. When you feel yourself getting angry or upset, we ask that you
make a conscious decision to step back, take a deep breath, and find a compromise so that the game can continue. If all else fails, the DM makes a final decision, and the argument is officially over at
that point.
• Remember that it’s a team game. While creating a brooding loner character can be interesting, every character should still be able to function well in a team environment. D&D is all about working
together to overcome challenges, and the mechanics of the game reinforce that aspect. Roleplay your character however you like, so long as you remember the importance of assisting your fellow
adventurers.
• You can’t intentionally attack, damage, or hinder other PCs without the player’s permission. If you are in control of your character and want to use a power that could include other PCs in its area of
effect, always ask the players controlling the affected characters if it’s OK to damage or otherwise hinder their character before you make the attack. If they agree, you may proceed, but if any of the
affected players does not want you to attack or otherwise hinder his or her PC, you must respect their wishes. This could mean retargeting the power so that it doesn't include the other PC in the
area of effect, or choosing a different power altogether, depending on the situation. This also means that you can’t steal items from other PCs, even if the item is unattended (perhaps because the other character dropped it during a battle).
• Sometimes PCs can be forced to attack other PCs, such as when a monster dominates a character, but in that case, the attacks are decided by the DM, not by the player of the dominated character.

I have upload more maps and I have divided them into folders, I done Julkoun cellars and Harpshield Castle,  Phylund Lodge. (Pdf, jpeg, and png formats)

the main folder can be accessed here

updated 3/11/ -- added last building of Lodge and the cellars under lodge but not the cave.

Has anyone tried to print to the non-tagged, higher rez maps from jodyjohnson's link above? Was wondering if we could just use those.

I printed the maps and they are nice to have without the tags, I was not able to increase the size to use as a battle map.  Anyone else have any luck?

Don't think that' spossible. You will have to redraw them BTW I updated the links.

I also made custom pre-gens characters. These are just the same pregrens that came with the game but you will see that I redesigned the page to make it look a lot better (I find) let me know what you there. Custom PreGen (lv2) - Credit to me

Ok, so the guidelines in the adventure say that each location should be tackled in two sessions (or a total of 4 hours a piece), this week will be our third session of the thirteen (including the launch day) and we're still half way through Julkoun, so I was thinking on how I want to plan our remaining sessions so as to end suitably with the conclusion taking place on 7th May ready for Dead in Thay launch.

26th Feb - conclude Julkoun

5th Mar - Phylund Lodge

12th Mar - Phylund Lodge

19th Mar - Harpshield Castle

26th Mar - Harpshield Castle

2nd Apr - Firehammer Hold

9th Apr - Firehammer Hold

16th Apr - Firehammer Hold

23rd Apr - Floshin Estate

30th Apr - Floshin Estate

7th May - Conclusion.

This assumes that we have our usual 2 hour game slot at the store each week and enough players to run each session.

Has anyone else made similar plans or is anyone planning on running by the pace their players set?

Well that plans changed already :-)  my players ended the Julkoun section laying unconscious at the mercy of the hobgoblin leader and goblin shaman. Next week they will begin as prisoners at Firehammer hold (area 20), but I have still instructed them to level up in preparation of next week.

If we can't do Julkoun in one night then I'm guessing I'll axe Phylund lodge. Harpshield and Firehammer are too important to miss. If I would have known how long Julkoun would take I would have skipped it and started the PCs at level 3.

I removed the content because it got spread too widely, being shared on other forums. I'd originally only made them for use by D&D Encounters DMs who wanted a little more variety than the beginning 5 pre-gens (from the earlier playtest packets).

My repost of the folders got removed by WotC_GregB, so I'm guessing pre-gens of any kind are no longer allowed, as none of the playtest content is technically "public" -- it's all covered by NDA.

After discussion with WotC_GregB, the problem was the warforged sorcerer I'd back-engineered from the livestream from a few months ago. I've removed him, since he wasn't popular anyway (no one has ever actually picked him to play, poor guy.)

Again, these are not for wide distribution. They're for you guys here in the D&D Encounters forums.
