Effective Damage Bonus From Brutal?

I have a math question for the more inclined:  what is the average damage bonus for picking up a Rod of Brutality (curse damage becomes Brutal 1) if your curse damage is 3d8?

3d8 = average 13.5 damage

3d8+Brutal 1 = 3d7+3 = average 15 

so using that weapon net your 1.5 average damage by raising the low end of the damage rolls, does not effect maximized (crit) damage what so ever.

 
Brutal is worth .5 damage per point of brutal per die, on average.  Brutal 1 makes the average result of a die go up by .5  It's not often that much worth picking up - a feat or an item to make only a few dice brutal isn't worth it.  If you're rolling a LOT of dice, Gauntlets of Destruction are the way to get it...

It's actually slightly less because of Crits, unless you're also High Crit.

Simple answer: not enough to ever justify the rod.
Brutal is great for weapon users, because it applies to every roll of every attack every time. Curse damage is only once per...round or turn, I forget which.

Also, the assertion that it applies to every roll of every weapon attack is totally untrue, given that Howling Strike exists, amont MANY other similar things.
