As you know, monthly LGS support (league kits) was not in the budget for 2009. I know that you will join me is my effort to have that decision reconsidered for 2010. The best way we can help ourselves in this effort is to continue to report events through the DCI webpage. Now that we have a casual play option, we, as a player community can demonstrate the level of player involvement for Star Wars miniatures.

Great news! Thanks for working to get this all put together and in a rather timely manner. Really helps for people to get the word out and build involvement.
Great! I'm currently working on getting DCI reporting at my venue. Every little bit helps. A little bit.
My old signatures are gone!!
I'm so very happy to have this finally announced!

I look forward to seeing everyone at DragonCon this year! I'll do my best to make sure that everyone has a blast!

I'm doing my part. We had our first meeting yesterday (Twin Cities, MN) though it was not reportable as I didn't schedule it soon enough but next week's is sanctioned & all future events will be. I'm very happy to have the casual play option & very excited to be able to use it.
That looks like a respectable start to a tournament circuit. Great job.
Nice, stuff at Wizard World! (FYI its actually changed back to Chicago Comic-Con, its not Wizard World Chicago anymore)
Jim (The Godfather) may offer you a tournament but one day he will come to you for a favor in return. :P
:D
Is there anyone in Chicago that would want to get something going at Anime Central? It would be a great opportunity to teach SWMs to a whole new crowd.

Is WotC planning exclusive minis, maps, etc.?

I collect promo stuff (as do many of us) and I'd love to know what I'm chasing. WotC doesn't seem to create lists of promo goodies, so sometimes it's hard to even know what's out there.

I'm not impatient; I'd just like to see a list of goodies in an article or something. I'd be happy with an article posted on a Thursday for a convention that starts on a Thursday.
Excellent news! Great job, Jim!

I'm thrilled to see SWM at DragonCon! Even more thrilled that I will actually get to play SWM at D*C! :D
Thanks for the update, Jim! Glad to see that support is coming to some of these events! Any idea when the Regional Tournament Schedule is going to be announced?

As far as I know, there is no promo figs or maps for 2009. Budget decision. Set posters did not have maps on them due to the fact that we have 3 map packs coming out this year.
Thank you Jim.

...and a special thanks for providing support for squid89's Endor Scenario and my Hoth Scenario at Origins 2009. Interested players can learn more HERE.

We're hoping to attract new players by showing people that there is more to SWM than just the standard construct game. Star Wars has such an advantage over all other miniature games when it comes to scenario play.

We will definitely report our scenario's under DCI casual play.

Thanks again,
Shawn.

Jim - Are these events the ones at which the "regional qualifiers" (even though GenCon is an open event) for GenCon Badges will take place as you mentioned in Sarah's OP announcement or is there still an announcement pending regarding this?

Looks exciting, thanks for taking on these new responsibilities!

Just wanted to let everyone know that a SWM 200pt DCI Construct event has been added to Origins schedule. The event will take place on Saturday June 27th starting at 7:00pm. This is in addition to the 2 special scenario's that squid89 and I are already running. Prize support will be available for all 3 events.

If I am able to work with WOTC in 2010, I am planning on the ComiCon in NY next year.
Darn it, Galacticon is during my finals!
Gosh-darn it I lost my signature.
Where can I find a full schedule for Origins?

Here's the official Origins site: https://www.originsgamefair.com/2009-origins

The full PDF/MicroSoft Excel schedule should be available in the next couple weeks. Pre-registration rates are until May 25th. Educators and Volunteers can get in to the halls for free - so be sure to check details if you are a teacher or want to work. Hope to see lots of people in Columbus this June - you can see as many as 93 different Ewoks in action during the Endor Scenario!

Jim,

The following scenario will not be played at Origins, you may want to remove it from the list in the OP. We didin't have time to finish everything, so it looks like we will have to put it on hold until next year.

• Origins, 6/25 – 6/28
Thursday 6/25/09 - Battle of Genosis mass battle 7pm

Everything else for Origins is good to go!

Any danger of anything outside the USA being supported...?

We've been organising and running events across the UK since RS was released, and WOTC have always left us in the dark.
Can someone tell me what a "mass battle" is? Is it competitive play?

Also, if it says "Hoth Mass Battle" or "Genosis Mass Battle", are there any figure allowed, or just certain figures?

Thanks in advance for your help!

"Mass Battle" means huge point-level games. "Hoth Mass Battle" is a recreation of Empire Strikes Back using the AT-ATs.

Typically in events like these, all the figures are provided by the organizer. ;)
Seriously though, I would like an answer on the European/UK situation.
I would like to take the opportunity to announce that Wizards of the Coast is providing Star Wars Miniatures prize support for the following large conventions in 2009:

• Wizard World Chicago, 8/6 – 8/9
Saturday, Aug 8, 11am. 150 point constructed tournament
Saturday, Aug 8, 4pm. 100 point Jedi Academy sealed booster tournament
Sunday, Aug 9, 11am. 200 point constructed tournament
Demo's running all weekend and on demand pick up events
No convention entry fees.

I may have to reconsider hitting my hometown convention. WWC has really been a bust the last few years IMHO. Glad to see SWM getting some play at WWC.

Apparently not...
Just a simple note to any planning to attend DragonCon that the event schedule has been updated as of today. I've added additional events and changed the order of some of them to be more conducive to everyone's enjoyment.

I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Ted,

Let me know if there are any changes to the event schedule or point totals for events and I will update the main post on this thread. We did not know specifically about the Luke before we put up sealed events for JA.

Thanks for the update. I am always very busy and D*C, but I wil definitely find time to do some SWM this year! :D
Are there any plans to run any events at Baltimore Comic Con this year?
• GenCon, 8/13 – 8/16
Thursday, Aug 13, 6pm. Clone Wars Mass Battle
Friday, Aug 14, 9am. Clone Wars Mass Battle

The way you are talking about the event, it seems as if it is only being run once, yet there are two times. Is this two separate times for the event to be run twice, or is the Friday morning time to finish it up if it runs too late Thursday night?

There will be two events. Trust me, it will not run over the four-hour time limit.
