The Elder Dragon Highlander format is starting to gain in popularity. This might be because of the challenge of trying to fit all the utility needed for long Multiplayer games, and the consistancy you want when trying to find that one card out of a hundred. It also might be due to how quickly a game can swing in your favor or against you. It could just come down to people wanting to find a place for all of their singleton cards that they just couldn't fit into their highly tuned decks sporting four copies of each card.
Whatever the reason, Elder Dragon Highlander is a very fun format. The basics of the game are to build a 100 card singleton deck {only one copy of a card, except for basic lands} around a General. This General has to be a Legendary Creature, and all the cards in your deck can only have colored mana symbols that appear in your General's Mana Cost.
While browsing the Forums, many posters would ask questions like, "Is it possible to build a competitive EDH deck for under $100." I also read up on the many threads about EDH staples, and the "Top 25 cards" for each color. Unfortunately, if you check out the prices of those cards you could end up spending several hundreds of dollars just to get a single copy of each card on the list. This to me was unacceptable, so I got to work on creating a budget list of staple cards for EDH.
This group is dedicated to the following:
Maintaining a list of the best Budget EDH Staples in each color.
Maintaining a list of the best Budget EDH decks that cost $20 or less.
Maintaining a list of the best Budget EDH Generals.
Examining each new set release for new additions the the Budget lists.
