"A monstrous humanod is proficient with all simple weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry."
This also applies to many other types. This question has specifically to do with Centaurs, but also applies to other creatures with weapons listed in the description. Centaurs have Longsword and Longbows listed in their stat blocks, but ALSO have Lances listed in the description below under the hading of Combat. The stat-block Centaur isn't carrying one. Does being listed in the combat description count as being "mentioned in its entry" or would a centaur need to take a class level or feat to be able to use a Lance?
My thought is that Centaurs can use Lances since the special rules for a Centaur's lance use seem out of place if a Centaur can't use a lance, and also the combat description is part of the entry and typically contains rules for SLAs, supernatural abilities, etc-- it should count.

Lances are mentioned in the entry (not in the stat block - but still in the entry) - so they get the lance proficiency.
Sahuagin also get Net proficiency since it is mentioned in their description (even though it is not in the stat block)

Ah yes, Sahuagin was the other example I was thinking of, but I had it mixed up with Triton and gave up looking for it.

Do aquatic elves get proficiency with spears, nets, and tridents by that same logic? I had never thought about it like that.

No because humanoids with no racial hit dice (or 1 racial hit die) exchange the features of the type with their class level. Otherwise - all humanoids would have simple weapon proficiency.
