A thought just occurred to me, but I wanted to check here first.
Is it legal to prebuff your weapons with Dissolving Weapon, since the wording is that it lasts until the first successful hit?
Is it also legal to prebuff a spell-storing weapon with a spell (or power-storing weapon with a power)? Again, the wording suggests that the spell/power remains in the weapon until the first time the weapon deals damage.

I don't see why you couldn't. I've been pre-buffing spell storing weapons for weeks, but I'd never thought about dissolving weapon.... I alwys assumed it was like a touch attack in that you couldn;t cast other spells while holding it, but from the wording...

Both are fine. Here's an existing court ruling that is related: Q: Can the psionic power Dissolving Weapon be used in conjunction with a ranged attack from a bow, crossbow or sling? A: No. Unless specifically stated to do so, spells and powers cast on the launcher (bow, crossbow or sling) do not transfer to ammunition.

I was told specifically that dissolving weapon can't be prebuffed... I don't have time to find the discussion right this second, though -- but this came up before.

I'll look for it, but do you remember why?
Edit: this post here starts off by suggesting that it only lasts 1 round, but then it's pointed out later that the wording specifically mentions "until the next successful attack"

So, any luck finding out the previous ruling? Telin has indicated that prebuffing dissolving weapon is ok, so unless anyone can find a contradictory ruling, that's what I'm going with (one less buffing round for Grannick! )
