Lady Fayne, saddened at the loss of her faithful friend, Duggles, and unwilling to mourn his (repeated) passing without marking his sacrifice, wanders the streets of Gladius for an appropriate token. She asks around, trying to find something that would help her protect Duggles in the future, but also capture his essence. After hours of browsing, the Lady settles upon a masterfully crafted monocle with a wooden frame and green-tinted lens, which she is delighted to discover helps her read some of the divine scrolls so dear to Duggles.
Gather information for a Green Monocle, a device which helps the untrained master complex magical words and phrases (Lens of Use Magic Device +3, 900 gp, custom item; Gather info to waive credit cost)
Gather information +17, ECL mod +28 = 476, 2 weeks free activity.

It's spelled "monocle", by the way. It'd be a shame to have it wrong on the actual sheet.
