Rilirod Venomtooth


Rilirod's tactics Show

A ranged character with outmaneuver on the moat map... Something tells me he is going to be in the keep.


Start off mounted on Veneno with my scythe in hand and a dose of drow poison. Apply poison to the scythe and draw my wand of Divine Favor while moving out.


Use the wand and stow it while continuing closer. Tap a tattoo of force screen and continue closing.


If he is up in the keep, ride the rest of the way there using full combat expertise/ride for cover to protect myself, dismount and climb up. Order Veneno to attack if he tries to climb down the other set of stairs.


If I am wounded to half hit points or less, draw and use wand of CLW until I am back above 20. If in melee, do not bother with healing.


In melee, trip and follow up. Use my smite on my first attack to deal damage. If he has mirror images up - use smite on the first attack after the images are gone unless I've already knocked him unconscious with poison.


If I am consistently unable to get to melee - most likely if he is trying to outrun me on the ground with expeditious retreat I would guess, use Veneno to attack directly by dismounting so that the horse can move the full 60ft per move action. This should be a last resort though.


I think that's about it. Have fun running the fight.

Alright, I have outmaneuver for 48 squares... The moat has towers, too.


Start on the tower further from my start position, for example


Start with bow in hand. Round 1, start singing. Then, kill him with my bow. Shoot his horse first, then him. My range is 110', so I'll never have more than a -2 for range.

If he is using his wand to heal himself, I'll have to engage melee. Jump down onto the 20' wall (DC 15 jump check to avoid damage). Then close and cast hideous laughter on him. If hideous laughter hits, disarm his wand with my sword if he has it out and then hit with sword. If it fails, engage in melee as below.


If engaged in melee with him either through delay penalty or having to get his wand, 5' shift and shoot him with my bow. Stand if tripped.


If I have to engage in melee for any reason, use a scroll of protection from evil and a scroll of shield with Use Magic Device, then cast resistance and close.


If I disarm his wand of CLW, pick it up and keep it in my buckler holding hand, wielding my longsword in the other hand and using the wand whenever injured.


If at 20 arrows, engage in melee with sword.


Basic priorities:
1. Shoot from on top of tower. Always target hirse first, then Rillirod himself.
2. Failing that, use hideous laughter on him once.
3. Disarm wand of healing and grab it for myself.
4. Kill with bow in melee while shifting. (unless he is prone)
5. Kill with sword.

Rilirod, mounted on his horse, sees Erith at the top of the southeast tower. He applies poison to his scythe, draws his wand of Divine Favor, and gallops towards the keep. Erith begins singing a song of courage in the face of evil.

Round 2 Show


Rilirod uses his wand to call upon his deity and enhance his prowess, then stows the wand and rides on. Erith aims at Rilirod's horse and fires off a shot from his longbow, but just barely misses the horse.

Round 3 Show


Rilirod taps a tattoo on his arm, activating an shimmering shield around him, and rides on. Erith is unable to take a shot at Rilirod or his horse due to the castle wall in the way.

Rilirod reaches the top of the stairs and realizes that there's no way that he's going to be able to face Erith in melee, as the tower is impossible for Rilirod to climb. He sheathes his scythe and pulls out a javelin.


Erith continues his archery assault, and finally hits Rilirod for 5 points of damage.

Round 12 Show


Growling with frustration, Rilirod draws his wand of Cure Light Wounds and heals 9 points of damage, then challenges Erith to face him like a true fighter.


Erith, seeing that Rilirod plans to heal his way through the onslaught of arrows, drops his bow onto the parapet, then draws his longsword as he jumps down to the stairs near the parapet, landing with ease and grace. He casts a spell at Rilirod, and the dark paladin falls over with uncontrollable laughter.

While Rilirod weeps with laughter on the ground, Erith walks to him and knocks the wand out of the paladin's hand. After scooping up the wand, Erith slashes Rilirod twice for 16 points of damage total, silencing the paladin for good.

Round 16 Show


Rilirod finally recovers and attempts to trip Erith with his scythe. Erith's feet are seized out from under him, and he falls to the ground while Rilirod stands. Erith tries to slice at Rilirod while he stands, but being tripped throws him off.


Erith grabs his longbow from the ground and stands up, earning an attack from Rilirod, who attempts to smite the fallen bard. Erith is hit for 11 points of damage, but manages to avoid succumbing to the deadly poison dripping from Rilirod's scythe.


NOTE: I forgot to use the -2 penalty from Rilirod's aura, but Erith still saves against DC 13, barely. I also incorrectly put in +3 damage for Rilirod's smite instead of +4 in the roller.

Zernian's tactics Show


Hi
My apologies.
These are terrible tactics.
Start front center, holding bow and buckler
Goal – get into melee and attack; ideally base him, so can preclude 5’ steps, and attack w/ lance and unarmed strike (doesn’t provoke as he has no melee weapon)
Comment – I assume he will skate, and therefore be able to keep away from me, and he is much better with the bow, and his buffs make his AC much better, and therefore if he uses skate he’ll win. Therefore, will try to wait out his buffs, unfortunately.
Rd 1:
if he’s seen, single move towards him and ready action to fire on his standard action; if this hits, continue to do same until within 120’ and then stow bow, draw lance and move closer, and goto “engage” below
if he’s not seen, or if first arrow misses, move to outermost edge of the arena; goal will be to delay for 20 rounds then try to engage (sorry)
in this case (he’s not seen, or arrow misses), ride around outside trying to stay away from him and keep cover between us, fire arrow at him every 2 rounds before a delay penalty would kick in. On round 19, use PLA Defensive precog
After that (PLA Def precog), engage
Engage:
--run to base if can; else double move
--if possible to charge, do so, expending focus on first attack
--if can’t charge, get to base him, and hold lance/buckler; try to grapple him, use lance reach/unarmed strike to prevent him from doing things without AoOs
--if entangled, drop prone and take total defense until done, then try to close

--if ever unable to close / melee is / appears impossible (ie, if horse is dead, or face delay penalty because of his 40’ speed and my 40’ mounted speed), get cover, kneel, and engage with bow (readied action to fire on any standard action of his)
Notes:
--always ride for cover if can
--please don’t forget PR, which may make a difference
--horse is large and can’t be target of crawling tattoo entangling ecto

Ilthas's tactics Show


Ilthas starts in the front corner of the box (flip a coin to determine the corner) with his dorje of Enlarged Energy Ray in one hand and a power stone of Force Screen in the other.
Buff Rounds (in order)
Round 1: Ilthas hides as a move action and manifests Inertial Armor
Round 2: Ilthas activates power stone of Force Screen and draws power stone of Skate
Round 3: Ilthas activates power stone of Skate and may move to the next hiding spot (see below for specifics)
Round 4: Ilthas manifests Defensive Precognition and may move to the next hiding spot (see below for specifics)
Combat
Ilthas is going to attempt to one-shot Zernian before getting damaged himself. If Zernian is already moving towards Illthas, he'll stay put wherever he is at the moment. Otherwise, he'll move as silently as possible to the next nearest cover that's closer to Zernian and hide there.
Once Zernian is in range of the Enlarged Energy Ray, Ilthas starts shooting and moving away from Zernian, expending psionic focus for Psionic Shot on the first attack, and using the arena environment and his 55' movement to avoid being charged if possible.

Thanks for pitlording!


Let’s try to have fun here – invisibility + ACs


Denerell will start in the default area, holding potion of invis and dorje AC


Rd 1: drink potion of invisibility and move between 2 statues


Rd 2+: dorje AC (with celerity; make ACs with celerity x2, or until Elrin is found – whichever is first; thereafter, all have Trip); after second AC, shout. Manifest then move to obscure location.


Continue making ACs – goal is ACs charge if possible, flank if possible, trip if possible, and always keep 1 AC between me and him (priorities: one between me and him, then whichever flank/charge is possible, ideally both; if he’s tripped, so much the better). Do this until 15 charges used up or he’s dead.


Once 15th AC charge used, Denerell will move to engage with mind thrust 5pp (4pp+1overchannel/talented)


If Elrin is still up, Denerell will try Mind Thrust again (if Denerell hasn’t been hurt, then 5pp overchannel, take the hp damage; if he was hurt, just 4pp)


If Elrin is still up after that, Denerell will use Energy Missile: Cold powerstone, then EM:Cold (enlarged)


If Elrin is still up after that, something shocking has happened; engage with rapier, cackle madly.


Elrin Shadow Blade


Elrin's tactics Show


Hm.... let's keep him on his toes. I have the hp to take some abuse from an AC.


Start in the front cornerwith mindblade in hand. Round 1, immediatley move out to find him and grapple him to death, ignoring AC's.


If he is levitating or otherwise unreachable, throw mindblade from 60'. Shift to avoid AC's AoO's. If I can't, take total defense, note my tumble, and outlast the AC's.


As easy as it gets on this end.


The Fight Show

Dennerell manifests an astral construct with improved trip and celerity. It charges [11 vs AC21, miss]
Dennerell starts manifesting a second construct.

Elrin takes total defense.
AC1 attacks [13 vs AC21+6, miss]

Cazadora's tactics Show

Well initial run of the yeth hound - let's see how he does.

Start off at the front corner of the starting area and fly out to find Amalia as quickly as possible - 15ft elevation.

Once found, bay and then engage Amalia. Hopefully the thrall will be affected and he'll be a non-issue for the fighting portion, if not, just ignore him - as long as I'm flying 5ft in the air (directly above Amalia when possible), he can't move into my square, so he can't keep a hold on the grapple. Combine that with the fact that he can't beat my DR with his unarmed strike and I'm a happy camper.

Attack Amalia with bite and stay directly overhead. Note that Cazadora has combat reflexes, so he'll get multiple AoO attempts if she provokes (particularly for standing and then manifesting for instance).

Likewise, since the crawling tattoos won't be able to enter my space, they are a non-issue.

Dodge Amalia exclusively - she's the only one I have to worry about.

Hopefully I'll be able to take her down before her powers do me in. Wish I had some PR to go along with Cazadora's nastiness - but this will have to do


Amalia

Amalia's tactics Show

Flight and DR/silver makes this tough. Forest is a damn pain, too. Still, maybe we can make use of those left-over PP. Begin by manifesting Vigour (?PP, shared with Psicrystal), Cold retort (Cold - note this has an AB of +11), and then Force Screen from an ML2 stone. Finally, draw both dorjes and move out looking for the enemy. Send Vurtuk slightly in front, and only cross the river if we have to, and if so Amalia can go once Vurtuk's made it to the other side.


When Cadazora is attacking, Vurtuk should stand adjacent to me and attack to grapple whenever he is able. If he can't reach her, he should ready an action to move adjacent when she flies down to attack (i.e. whenever she reaches 10ft altitude within movement range). Then, even if he can't attack on his turn, he will get an AoO. He should flurry touches to grapple, then grapple to pin - grappling for damage will do 1/6 per hit on average.


Meanwhile, Amalia should shoot with her Dorje of Entangling Ectoplasm, or Energy Ray (Electricity) if Cadazora is already Entangled. If Vurtuk is grappling the yeth hound, Amalia should instead Demoralise until it's successful once and then, if she has 3 or more PP left, tap a Crawling Tattoo of Destiny Dissonance at her and follow up (as soon as it hits) with Brain Lock. If Brain Lock is successful, Vurtuk can flurry grapple for damage (it should only take ~174 hits) - otherwise, Amalia should just keep shooting and tell Vurtuk not to complain if he gets hit.


If Amalia has all her temp HP removed (or they are about to expire), manifest Vigour with any remaining PP, expending focus if necessary to do so safely.


Amalia should always make passive Hide and Move Silently checks whilst Kal-uth-du always makes active Listen and Spot checks.


Summary: Amalia kills with dorjes whilst moving to avoid attacks, whilst Vurtuk always moves either to threaten AoOs or just to be as annoying as possible (primarily aiming to prevent harm to Amalia).

Ilthas's tactics Show


Ilthas starts in the front corner of the box (flip a coin to determine the corner) with his longbow in one hand and a power stone of Force Screen in the other.



Buff Rounds (in order)
Round 1: Ilthas hides as a move action and manifests Inertial Armor



Round 2: Ilthas activates power stone of Force Screen and draws power stone of Skate



Round 3: Ilthas activates power stone of Skate and performs a Listen check as a move action if necessary (see first line of Combat below). Otherwise, stay put if Ilthas is hidden, or move away if he's been spotted.



Round 4: Ilthas manifests Defensive Precognition and performs a Listen check as a move action if necessary (see first line of Combat below). Otherwise, stay put if Ilthas is hidden, or move away if he's been spotted.



Combat
If he doesn't already know the direction his opponent is coming from, Ilthas uses a move action to perform a Listen check first if his auto-check failed. If still unsuccessful at determining his opponent's direction, Ilthas takes Total Defense if he's done buffing.



Once Ilthas knows where his opponent is coming from, he moves around to try to get line-of-sight on his opponent. As soon as he gets line-of-sight, he activates a crawling tattoo of Entangling Ectoplasm to attack. While the opponent is not entangled, Ilthas tries to stay 100' away from his opponent and attacks with his longbow. Once the opponent is entangled, Ilthas closes to 55'.



If the opponent is in range of the Enlarged Energy Ray, Ilthas drops his longbow, draws his dorje of Enlarged Energy Ray, and starts shooting and moving away, expending psionic focus for Psionic Shot on the first attack, and using the arena environment and his 55' movement to avoid being charged if possible.


Cries of the Forest


Cries's tactics Show


Start in the front of my box with Dorje of Force Screen and Power Stone of Vigour in hand. Ilthas has no melee weapon so it'd be nice to get Tiny here, but I kind of need to save my PP, so instead just use Claws of the Beast (1PP) and Vigour (drawing stone of Offensive PRescience), then Force Screen and OP whilst moving out clockwise. Stow the dorje (as I move) directly after using it.



As soon as I see Ilthas, engage, Charging only if necessary to reach him. If he's far enough away that I can't get to him in one round, try to break LoS or at least take cover. Hide when possible (but don't move slowly for stealth). The aim is just to minimise the number of shots he can get off at me.



Otherwise, the plan is simply to get into melee and full-attack until one of us dies. If he's using his bow, then refresh Force Screen when it's about to expire (move to take cover if I can do so and I'm not threatening). Unless I'm not in combat at the time, drop the dorje and forget about it afterwards (the fight is unlikely to last much longer than 20 rounds and life will be easier if he has his bow out anyway).



Always declare (Psionic) Dodge against Ilthas. If hit by Entangling Ectoplasm, continue to attack if I am able, otherwise drop prone and take total defence (try hitting tAC 25, Ilthas! Hahaha!). If I'm really having difficulty hitting him in melee, draw bow and shoot until I can claw him to death.



Always aim to take full attacks when I can.
Summary: Avoid being shot, kill with claws.

Poggle giggles and enjoys the forest.
Unfortunately, the good bard is well equipped to counter her maneuvers. Speaking of, probably gets to outmaneuver Poggle too, though doubtful that'd do much in the forest!


Start in default area
Buff with Scroll of Mage Armor, walk out (giggle loudly for him to know which starting area)
Wand of Shield (note: as CL2, needs CL check; if fails, use scroll of Shield)


Fly to him; double move until cross stream, then single moves until he’s located (if he's located before that, obviously go to "once seen"); single move to utilize my ability to hide (+21 in forest) until he’s seen.


Once seen, use Entangle SLA on him, getting him in the center of it (note: if it took a long time to find him, and shield has < 7 rds remaining at this point, rebuff shield as well).


Then, depends on what he has going on
--If he has Mirror Images up, use Wand of MM CL3 (even if he has shield up, does not extend benefit to images, so can use wand to strip images) to get rid of images; use wand and move away from him
--If he has no Images, or after all images are stripped by wand, use SLA Invisibility at this point
--Once invisible, (make sure Shield is rebuffed to have at least 8+ rounds remaining; if it’s less than 9, rebuff), Fly towards him and land (not getting entangled!- this is for concentration purposes w/ poor maneuverability); next round, cast Scroll of Scorching Ray and fly back up and away from him
--After Scorching ray, engage with Wand of Ray of Frost and Acid Splash (alternate, for fun; giggle with each blast)


Poggle giggles throughout, regardless of the situation. (though, if trying to hide, giggles to herself: this is for RP, not for a fight penalty, after all!)

--Dodge Erith
--Note PBS when attacking with Rays, etc
--Note Hide +21 in forest, and Invisibility (sorry, those rolls may suck at some point)

Erith's tactics Show

Ok, alot of tricks here, let's see how stupid I was for forgetting cold iron arrows....


Start in the canopy above my box with a bow in hand. Move out in the canopy, seeking him. Once found, shoot him, sniping if possible. Then, follow the below plans:


1. Glitterdust him if he is within 110' of me. Then shoot him as long as he is blind. Flattfooted is my saving grace here.


2. Cast shield from scroll if he is using his wand of Magic Missle.


3. Cast Cure Light Wounds on myself if I am below 6 HP.


4. If I can, break line of sight to have him flat footed again.


5. All else, failing, just shoot him.


Priorities in order:
1. Shoot him flatfooted. Use any means possible to catch him as such, glitterdust and breaking line of sight being excellant examples.


2. Shield his wand.


3. Heal.


4. Shoot him if all else fails.


SPECIAL:


The trump all other priorities if the conditions are met.


1. If I can disarm his wand from the canopy (or if I fall out of the canopy and get the chance), do so. Then use his wand with my Use Magic Device to kill him. Disarm with my open hand so I immediatley have it instead of simply dropping it. Stow it if I roll a 1 on my UMD check.


2. Get out of entangle.


3. Break line of sight and hide for 8 rounds if enfeebled.


4. Start singing after glitterdust has worn off or failed, but only once I have broken line of sight. He is still flat-footed from me if he can hear but not see me, and getting close will only let me disarm him. He also cannot MM me if he canot see me.

Erith parallels Poggle's movements, then casts Glitterdust on her, outlining her in a shimmering golden cloud. She's shocked by the attack, but manages to concentrate hard enough to see past the glow and avoid being blinded.

Poggle turns around and points up at Erith in the canopy, giggling to herself while a mass of vines begin to grow and twist around him. Erith nimbly dodges the grasping vines, then moves south out of the vine-covered area of the canopy.

Erith starts singing to bolster his courage. Unable to hear whether or not Poggle has come any closer, Erith moves to a slightly better vantage point.

Poggle continues to head south, and attempts to re-Shield herself, but the wand's magic is a little too much for her this time.


Erith spots Poggle's glowing outline, but nearly trips over himself in the canopy and spends a few seconds to stop himself from falling. He fires off a shot that hits the grig, but hits for only 4 damage, as her fey nature prevents the arrow from being fully effective.

Erith hears the giggling right under his tree and moves northwest to try to catch Poggle by surprise. She hears him, but he's too far away for her to use her Sonic Scorching Ray. He still can't determine where she is, so he moves above the next tree to hide again.

Round 21 Show


Poggle moves next to the tree and shoots a Sonic Scorching Ray at Erith, piercing the cover of the canopy and hitting Erith for 20 points of damage. The resulting sonic ray blasts a hole right through his chest, and Erith comes crashing down through the canopy, his dead body landing with a hard thump on the forest floor.
