hmm... going to OP for ECL3, so blindness and hold person are less of a focus...
as a melee with a fair con, poison will be out there...
I think a tangle and a alchemest fire are good.

yeah, I think a prone lock would be fun, and if there is any lava around...

He looks pretty cool. I toyed with the idea of some sort of bull rush type character but alone, there doesn't seem to be much benefit to it. When you hit L4 there are arenas with things to push people into (e.g. rivers etc) though where it could be handy, and to be honest he has a lot of health and looks like something of a hard hitter.

well, barbarian is the only core HD 12, and the rage abilaty...
It was the idea of a charicter that is hard to go wrong with.  though I spect' a good illusionist could run over him like a steam roller.

Welcome to the Coliseum.  Your character might have some trouble with my latest character, though...
Ever want to try your hand at optimizing, but don't like excessive splatbook use?

First few fights are pretty tough.  It takes awhile to get used to the enviroment.

Why should they have darkvision?  They are only mentally aberations, after all.

I think overrun looks good, but I'm skeptical on bull rush.  Consider that most of the fights are 1 on 1, and in most of the arenas, it doesn't make a difference if the opponent gets pushed back 5-20 ft.  In any case that matters, the opponents tactics would specify not to get between you and a lava pit.

I think you would be better taking combat reflexes, to take advantage of the opponent trying to get up from pronve (via overrun).  Other alternatives I would suggest are improved sunder (destroy those annoying bows) or weapon focus with the falchion, and maybe even Run (x5 movement makes a difference when starting a fight at low levels).

As far as equipment, I think you look good.  I would suggest a reach weapon, and some backup weapons (vs sunder or disarm) when you can afford it.  Once you have some cash for expendables, I suggest psionic tattoos for synesthete (ignore blind/deaf), skate (+15 speed), and force screen (+4 shield).  Also, potions of CLW (for prolonged archery battles) and shield of faith (+2 deflection).  Best case, you won't have time to use them, but about half the time you won't see your opponent immediately.

I always suggest (back when I was in the suggestion business) that you think through these common types of battles, and how your character will deal with them
  • super rogue with a hide potion uses snipe to fire and shoot arrows (see Hide skill for snipe rules);
  • horseback archer keeps out of your range and uses rapid shot to pincushin you;
  • summoner completely surrounds herself with celestial animals and goes to town on you with a wand of magic missiles;
  • a half-giant grapple master enlarges himself and charges in to wrestle you

@Unknits: Elan psion V.S. half darkil with throwing scorpion.... in darkness...  kinda ticked me off...

@Vathelokai:a fair point, I mostly grabed a pair of feats I have never realy played with, and tossed them on top of a beat stick...

now I am thinking either run or sunder... sunder has it's problems, but so does run...

all fine sugestions, and will look into them when he has the gold...

super rogue, go to ground, and get to cover.  then work to pin point.  once the rogue is found, manuver to a charge position, and rage stomp.

archer, return fire with longbow wile aproching, they will fail the ride check sooner or later...

summoner, over run, lots of over run.  charge through the front row and rofl stomp the mage in the middle.

giant, keep range with fast movment+run, with  enough range arrow his face.

yeah, run it is I think...

Run is a good choice.  I had a run based warrior, community.wizards.com/coco/wiki/Uknits/G..., who has been pretty successful.  Cutting out buffing time can be awesome, especially with the follow up feat fleet of foot for making turns in charges.  It will also help in catching that ranged archer or sniper since your AC is too low to really engage them in a ranged battle.
