They've finally released the word count widgits for NaNoWriMo this morning. Also, I wasn't able to get to the site last night, so it is showing I did nothing yesterday and that I'm part of the way for my day's progress today.
Last night I was just too exhausted to do much though - so I'm pretty happy I even got as far as I did. I slept well though, so hopefully my progress will be better today.

Ahread of schedule is ridiculously impressive I can't imagine writing a coherent story this quickly without lots of planning, mapping, going back and revising, etc. They should make December NaDecEdittingMo

Don't place too much emphasis on the coherent part. I try to keep things flowing, but if I need to keep going without an idea of where I'm going, my prose can be a little "loose" on the story aspect.
That said - I'm doing much better on scheduling than I did last year; at this time last year I was just at 21k.
I need some time spent on planning, so it is good to have a few days of leeway right now to try to accommodate for it.

NaNoWriMo: Day 162000 words in any day is a good day, but can someone explain why I just killed off the bad guy?

Over the course of a month of writing, NaNoWriMo has a number of authors come and write some awesome Pep Talks to keep the writers motivated and to entertain us along the way. I don't always know all of the authors by name, but some of them are quite big names in the industry. It's week three and they just released Chris Cleave's pep talk and there's a great statement hidden in it that spoke well to me:
The good days are when you perform; the slow days are when you learn to perform better. The only bad days as a writer are the ones when you are too cowardly or too lazy to sit down at the keyboard and give it everything you have.
