    Favorite Classic D&D Monster?

    Last Post By: Sir_Joseph_the_Crowe

It still works... I recently placed a half dozen LARGE rust monsters in the path of a 10th level Lawful Good party consisting of 2 Paladins, 2 Fighters, a War-Priest and a Ranger slaughtering demon scouts as they were fighting their way through an in... more

    Which version of Classic?

    Last Post By: Ravenspoe

I have been using RC for most of my recent OSR play, but for the win it would be B/X for me. There was something about those box sets that spell D&D for me. I love Mentzer's work, but if I had a choice...This is why Labyrinth Lord is my go to clone.... more

    PDFs or More?

Those are some good points GP. I got real excited about getting a print on demand offer from WotC, but I guess you are right that it isnt very realistic. Simply getting the pdfs back would require almost no effort on the behalf of WotC and would get... more

I've been working up a campaign set in and around Threshold; really looking forward to returning to the Grand Duchy - and bring the old players back too - after some 15+ years of having left the setting. It's been great just thumbing thru the gaz's and the old adventures. Happy days. Merry Christmas everyone

I used to pore over the red box set ALL THE TIME. I must've run through the solo dungeon in the PHB a million times. I've recently been feeling a LOT of nostalgia for the old game, and I'm actually considering running a "play-by-email" game for my old players. Anyone have any suggestions? Like should I go strict on sticking to the rules as written, or make some modifications, like 4d6 rolls for ability scores, max HP at 1st level, and magic-users having the ability to cast one 1st level spell 3 times before needed to rest?
