Clan Yawgmoth Prize Pool and Donation Bot Clan Yawgmoth

:p: GENERAL INFORMATION :p:
Clan Yawgmoth is proud to announce the addition of our newest bot to our Trade Network.

:diamond: The __Yawgmoth__ Prize Pool and Donation Bot :diamond:

This bot will work a bit differently than any bot previously ran on Magic Online, so this document has been set up to help explain how it will work, it's purpose, and how to use it.

The bot is currently in Beta mode.  It has already started paying out prizes for TPDC, BYOS, ad Peasant and is ready to be used as a prize pool for other PRE's

The donation mode is currently not working.  If you would like to donate to the prize pool please contact a points admin and donate directly to them.  They will ensure that the donations get to the prize pool.

The bot is running on the account __Yawgmoth__  (two underscores on either side).  Add this account to your buddy list and trade with it at any time to browse the prize pool or donate.  The bot will give you some instructions and the trade will flow just like trading with any other bot.

:cip: VIDEO TUTORIAL :cip:
A video Tutorial of the bot's functions has been set up.  Check it out if you need any help accessing anything on the bot:

VIDEO WILL BE ADDED HERE LATER...

d24f0c33292020a22b649f0dc5d9d950.gif?v=12000

The following sections will help explain the different functions that the bot will serve to the PRE community as well as the overall Magic Online community.

:p: PRIZE POOL :p:
The primary purpose of the __Yawgmoth__ bot is to act as an automated prize pool for the Magic Online PRE's.  Previously hosts would have to accept and distribute donations themselves during an event.  Depending on the size or complexity of the donations it could become troublesome to track and manage the prize pool and distinguish it from the host's own collection.  This forced most hosts to do one of two things, either keep prize pools small to easily manage them or set up separate accounts to keep track of the donations.  Both options were cumbersome and inefficient.  This bot will alleviate this task from hosts with the added advantages of automating the process for 24 hour support and with the possibilities to support multiple events at once.  It will allow the host to focus on their event while never needing to open a trade during the event to award prizes.

It will also help to synchronize the prize payout of PRE's allowing for more consistency between events many of which are connected and disconnected between many organizations on Magic Online.

The basic functions of a prize pool are to accept donations from those willing to give to the PRE Community and redistribute those donations in a manner that best rewards participation and achievements in this community.  The process in which these two functions will be accomplished will be explained further in the "Points and Prize Payout Structure" section, and the "Donations" section.

:p: POINTS AND PRIZE PAYOUT STRUCTURE :p:
Prizes will be awarded using a Point Structure.  Points will work much like regular bot credits but have been set up to avoid any exchange rate with tickets or cash.  This means that the points awarded for prizes in PRE's will be used only to get cards from the prize pool.  When the event is over the Point Admin (or host of an event) will add the points to the bot and the winner will be able to claim their prize any time they wish.

Players that have won a prize will be awarded points based on the following:

1st 250 Points (For unsponsered events only)
2nd 200 Points (For unsponsered events only)
Top 4 150 Points (For unsponsered events only)
Top 8 100 Points (With actual Top 8 cut only)
Championship Top 8 150 Points (With actual Top 8 cut only)
door prize 50 Points with 17 players or fewer
door prize 2X50 Points with 18 player or more

Players that have earned points will be able to spend their points based on the follwoing prize payout system:

Special Prizes 200  Points
Special Mythics/Rares 175  Points
Boosters 150  Points
Mythics 150  Points
Special Rares 150  Points
Rares 100  Points
Foils 100  Points
Special Uncommons 75  Points
Special Uncommons 62.5  Points
Uncommons 50  Points
Special Commons 25  Points
Commons 12.5  Points
Basic Land 8  Points

These are the General Prize Payout Rules.  Some card's points on the bot have been adjusted to better suit the needs of the prize pool.  Using this system we can control the flow of both more valuable and less valuable prizes.  Prizes over 100 points will force winners to save up their prize points if they wish to get these better prizes.  These rates can be adjusted latter if the prize pool starts to be flooded or stretched thin.  The highest points required for any prize is currently 200 points which is two full earned prizes.

All the prize's points can be adjusted if needed.

Examples of Special Points Payout Situations:

  • All versions of Crypt Rats are considered to be a Rare so that a player that earns a prize may choose only one.  The same is true for counterspell and other very popular commons.
  • Terminate, another popular common, from ARB has been priced at 50 points as an uncommon, and all other versions have been priced at 100 points as rares.
  • All cards that hold a high secondary market value have points values of at least 150 to 200.  Such as wasteland which is an uncommon but priced at the 200 points rate.

:p: DONATIONS :p:
The bot will accept donations from any player willing to donate.  Donations will be used to support both the PRE community and Magic Online community at large (for more information see the "Terms and Conditions" Section).  If you have cards that you would like to donate (or Shred from your account) simply enter a trade with the bot and enter "Buying Mode".  The bot will then take ALL cards that are tradable.  There is a function to remove cards from the trade but it will be much easier and faster if you make only the cards that you wish to donate tradable prior to opening a trade.

In an attempt to award players for donating, the bot will offer some reward points in exchange for donating.  This project is meant to facilitate the act of paying out prizes for events and not for players to exchange for better cards so the payouts have been set up to award donations but not to abuse the prize pool.

:p: CARD SHEDDER :p:
Some sort of feature with this function has been requested by the community numerous times.  This bot can accomplish this function mostly as a byproduct of accepting donations for use in the prize pool.  This could potentially create a large excess of chaff/unwanted prizes but shouldn't be a detriment to the prize pool as a whole.

So if you have large amounts of excess cards that you no longer want cluttering up your account we will accept them and determine ways to best use them.  Even if they are not right for this project we have many more plans for projects that may be able to better utilize these types of donations while still providing valuable (and free) services to the Magic Online Comunity.

In addition, while you are shredding your cards they will be considered as donations and will be eligible for the same reward points.

:sc: PRE HOST APPLICATION PROCESS :sc:
If you are hosting an event and would like prize pool support please go to THIS FORUM and submit a new thread with the below template.  Please answer the questions as thoroughly as possible.  We will look over your application at the earliest time possible and if accepted we will either assign you to a current existing Points Admin or, if necessary, supply you with the information to become a new additional Points Admin.  If you are assigned an existing Points Admin you will be able to request prize points to be added to the prize pool credit database.   You will be added as a Points Admin only if another suitible Points admin cannot be found.  This is done to limit the number of people that will have direct access to the Points database for security considerations.

Please be aware that if you apply and are accepted you will be allowed to reward points prizes for your event once it has been added to this document under the "Supported PRE's" section.  You will also need to change your prize structure to match what is supported by this project.  If your needs are considerably different we may be able to work with you to change the payout in a manner that can be supported by our project.

If you event is sponsered with bot credit then top 4 should get bot credit.  We suggest places 5-8 should recieve a prize from the prize pool only if there is a top 8 playoff.  We also suggest one random door prize to a non-top 8/4 competitor.

:m: FAQ :m:

What is a PRE?

PRE is short for Player Run Event.  This simply means events that are run for players by players.  All PRE's are free to join and most award prizes.  Many award prizes from sponsors in the form of bot credits.  Many also keep a prize pool of cards that have been donated by other players to award to participants that do well or as door prizes.  This Prize Pool bot has been set up with the primary purpose of collecting and distributing these donated prizes.

How do I play in the PRE's mentioned?

  • Check out the MTGO PRE Forum for more information on all of the events held on MTGO.
  • Check out www.PDCmagic.com for more information on pauper events.  Check the 'Events' page for more information and starting times on specific events that they run.
  • In the event threads look for the room to join.  About 30 minutes before the event type "/join ROOM NAME" into any chat in the MTGO client.  This will bring you to the event's chat room.  If you have more questions try finding the host and they will be able to help you with the details of their event.

How do I redeem my points for prizes?

Once you have been awarded points for playing in a PRE, simply trade with the bot account __Yawgmoth__ (two underscores on either side) and pick your prize(s).  The bot will guide you through the tradeing process and let you know what you can get.

Can I redeem the points I earn for anything other than the cards in the prize pool?

No, they cannot be redeemed for anything else at this time.

What will the donations be used for?

All donations will be used to give back to the Magic Online community in one way or another.  All services involving the donations will be free of charge and will not be associated with for profit counterparts.

We will do our best to keep cards donated to this project on this project but if we feel there is a better use for donations then we may reallocate them to other projects.  Such as giving away free lands to new MTGO players.  Or other free giveaway projects.

Can I donate tickets to the prize pool?

Not at this time.  If you would like to donate tickets please contact one of the Points Admins and donate directly to them.  They will then either be able to use the ticket as a prize or buy cards for the prize pool.

Do my points ever expire?

No, not as long as the bot is running.

Is there a maximum amount of points that I can have?

Yes, Each account can have a maximum of 900 points.  Ounce an account has reached this point we will not add any more points to it, so use your points!

Clan Yawgmoth Trade Network Changes I would like to help explain some of the recent changes to the Clan Yawgmoth Trade Network.  We have recently added several bots to both the Insane_Smart_Bot family and the bluedragon_store family.

The Insane_Smart_Bot family now consists of:

  • Insane_Smart_Bot
  • Insane_Smart_Bot2
  • Insane_Smart_Bot3
  • Insane_Smart_Bot4
  • Insane_Foil_Bot

Inventory is centrally located on the first bot and cascaded downwards as needed.  All of the Insane bots are buying and selling and the Insane_Foil_Bot remains to be one of the most premire places to buy and sell foils.  With the increse of bot capacity the Insane bot's inventory requirements have increased so now is a great time to sell your cards as well.  If you are looking to sell I would suggest starting with the fourth bot and moving upwards.  If one is busy and you are still looking to purchase cards try one of the others.  Credit is linked between all of the Insane bots.

The bluedragon bot family now consists of:

  • bluedragon_store
  • bluedragon_store2
  • bluedragon_store3
  • bluedragon_buy
  • bluedragon_buy2
  • bluedragon_buy3

This setup will work a bit differently than our previous set up.  However, it will work the same as many oher bot chains currently operating.  The store's are now ONLY selling cards.  The inventory is centrally located on store(1) and cascaded downwards to store2 and store3 as needed.  If one is busy and you are still looking to purchase cards try one of the others.  Credit is linked between all of the bluedragon bots.

The buy bots are ONLY buying cards.  You may see cards tradeable but they are not yet available for purchase.  They will automaticaly be transfered to the store bots per my inventory systems.  The first and second buy bots are currently buying via a wishlist.  We are still testing the particulars with this function so if it doesn't seem to work right for you please try bluedragon_buy3.  Sometimes it works very well and other times it picks cards that I don't currently need for my inventory.  This has to do with the way that the MTGO client loads specific versions of reprinted cards.  They other buy bots will manually search through your collection.  Depending on the cards that you have for trade this may take some time.

With these updates the bluedragon bot family also has an increased need of inventory.  So now is a great time to offload cards that I or other bots may not readily purchase.

As we continue to expand our inventory needs will cotinue to grow.  So there will be more opportunities to sell your extra cards to us.  We are also exploring purchasing collections so if you would like to sell your collection contact us and we will reply with an offer.  We prefer to pay with tickets but may be able to arrange payment through paypal (depedning on the value of the collection).

In adition Ancestral_bot and ________01AtomicBot continue to grow.  Check them out for some great deals as the continue to buy and sell.  They are also being stocked with cards fresh from draft and sealed pods so check them out for some great deals!

Continue to watch our Trade Network wiki page for more updates.

In addition to these changes there's a change I'm really excited to announce so keep your eyes peeled to our blog for more information!
