Beginning a campaign guide means factions that have agendas concerning the Scar, providing either patrons or foils for the players and a complex relationship instead of "us vs. them"
Some suggestions, open for discussion and input. We need more factions.
1.) Brotherhood of the Scar- What do we know about these guys? What, exactly, do they want?
2.) The Constellation- A coalition of star pact warlords who believe they called the meteor. For what purpose? Did they know it would do what it has done? Are they trying to fix it, or do they have another purpose?
3.) The King's Men- An order started by the king who tried to contain the influence of the Scar. They continue to fight, but as a clandestine order.
4.) The End- A religious cult that believes that the Scar is the herald of the End of Days. They want information about the Scar regarding various prophecies they make.
5.) Red Hand- A group of fighters, gladiators, and other warriors who see the Scar as a proving ground. They also seek to find and collect monsters for use in fighting pits elsewhere.

I have factions for the different religious groups involved in my campaign too.
I.e. Zehir, Raven queen, Avandra and Erathis, but likely bane and moradin too.
Dont forget the mindflayer faction too (or do you use the brotherhood for that?).
Havent decided on the brotherhood myself yet (too little info).
Where does the lich of Bedlam stand?
Ohh the mages of saruun might be one too?
In the long run I'll have a couple of small factions that may or may not be involved depending on the players actions (watergenasi living in the sea, wolfen of the northern mountains etc).
