Community

I am currently running a 1st edition AD&D campaign called "The Dark Ages." It's hosted on Obsidian Portal (link). I have two tabletop groups running in this campaign as well as a new online game through Google Wave.

This campaign is styled on the "West Marches" sandbox style of play first documented by Ben Robbins of Ars Ludi. It's a great approach and my first year has seen some interesting developments.

I have an RSS feed set up for my campaign's latest updates, if you'd like to see what the campaign is all about. I know that I'm trying to keep the 1e flame alive!

Ha! Beware the grognards, we of the dusty tomes and strange tables ... (known to some of you as "fatbeards" but my wife tells me it's an endearing quality, so I won't complain).

I normally write on my own blog: Chgowiz's Old Guy RPG Blog, but I also wanted to check this place out and see if there was an old school community here.

OD&D search? Found "Classic D&D" group - that's good... wait... no AD&D 1e group?! :clickety-click: OK, now that's settled... "AD&D 1e Fan Club". Alrighty... we're ready to have fun!

I also write a column for the site Examiner.com as the Chicago RPG Examiner and I have written several items for the "retroclone" Swords & Wizardry - the Quick Start module and the Reference Sheets accessory.

I'm not sure what else I'll write about here... guess that depends on my friends that I make here! ChattyDM says I'll lose my soul by being here... errr... did I have one of those to begin with? I did start playing D&D in the days of the D&D Chick Tract, yannow...
