Alright, due in large part to my laziness I've neglected this blog post, which I shouldn't do because this thing will no doubt prove invaluable in terms of helping me keep track of what's happened since I'm more prone to elaborate here than in, say, Masterplan. So instead of a recap of the first session of this campaign, here is a recap of the first half dozen sessions of this campaign. Or maybe the first two because this is taking longer than I expected. Hooray laziness!
Session 1: Murder in the Mountebank Inn
A varied group of individuals convene at an Inn about a mile outside of Wroat. They have all been invited there in order to accept a prospective job that offers few details beyond promises of vast fortunes. The patronage seem no more unusual than is average, and so it's no big surprise when one of them is found murdered in the middle of the night. The quirky Warforged Inquisitive, Rubber Boots, immediately vows to discern the culprit, and so a number of the party accompany him in hopes of finding a way to avoid a full scale investigation when they should be covering their tracks. Of course, among them is the very murderer herself. After running into several dead ends, Boots concludes that Miri Torn, an Argonnessen Barbarian, is to blame. He reports this to the Gnomish owners only to find the husband missing, later captured in the act of molesting one of the clientele. Upon reporting the crime to his wife, she offers only disappointment in being caught. Exhausted with the sheer number of buried mysteries in this single inn, Boots retires to his room around the same time as everyone else.
Session 2: Rail Kept A-Rollin'
The next morning several of the number who stayed at the Mountebank Inn depart early to catch a Lightning Rail headed for Sharn. Among them are: Boots and Miri, as well as Therion, a potentially defective Warforged and former soldier, Pavel Trixx, an entertainer, crewman and member to House Lyrandar, Lam, a soft spoken Eladrin thief, and Sanmertak, an almost serene Deva Avenger. They boarded to find a deserted train with the exception of a Kenku and Warforged. The Kenku was Ortilk Downing, the mastermind behind the heist that he had contracted all of these people to aid him with, and the Warforged his definitely defective but stalwart bodyguard, Sixpence. It was soon made apparent that the Rail was deserted because Ortilk had seen fit to purchase every ticket, much to the chagrin of a Dwarven ticket collector. As the Rail departs, Ortilk informs his crew of the details of their job; they are to locate a Sharnian Licensing Clerk named Haldforth Rantrail and get his signature for a License Acquisition Form given to them by Ortilk. Upon returning it to him via a Pouch of Shared Acquistion, they will apparently receive at least a million Galifars. Sounds simple enough. Also, he's gone missing. Sanmertak then hears a small cough, prompting her to check the opposite side of the car only to find that someone has been hiding there. The diminutive person in question dashes out of the car immediately, and so the party gave chase, across the rail cars and roof before cornering him long enough to see that the spy is...a Shifter child?
