Very glad we will be reading this.

I listened to the Tome Show review & interview with Erin [this does contain spoilers]. Seemed like it was a good read with a lot of new territory in terms of Character Race etc.

I have not yet purchased this book & would like to to talk about options--eBook's, etc. real quick--first of all, I have not seen this book yet [can we get the WotC Novel Club image updated?]--how is the Cover? I have found that I if the cover is awesome I would rather own the print copy.

In terms of eBook--I have a Nook & I read Kindle on my phone--if Erin is willing to do a Kindlegraphy like Rosemary did I will DEFINITELY get the Kindle version, else I will go Nook.

How are you planning to read this book?

One of the reasons I’m excited to read this book is I had a really fun time playing in the recent D&D Encounters season set in Neverwinter.  I feel like after running around the city for 12 or 13 weeks I have a better feel for all the wonder, glory, and mystery in this place.

Did anyone else play?

Here is a link to the art from the cover (although you can find it lots of places). I LOVE this cover, and while I think I imagined the characters looking a little different, they project all the right vibes.

Personally, I would suggest the ebook version if you have any sort of problems with small text. There was a slight miscommunication on the page count when my editor went on leave, and so while you get a nice fat 120,000 word story, you do not get the 60 extra pages that should have involved. It's readable if your eyes are sharp, but my parents were grateful for their Kindle and Nook.

But what are people reading? Do you have trouble with the text? Does the cover make it worth it?

And WHAT is a Kindlegraphy? (EDIT: Okay, I should have just googled before I asked. That's pretty cool! I have to admit, I'm a Nook user and *.epub lover, so part of me wants to champion a Nook purchase. But I'm willing to do a Kindlegraph, so you should pick the one you want.)

I borrowed the book from the public library – there were several copies available.  So it is print copy for me.    One of the reasons my wife and I bought our current house (condo) is because it is just a couple blocks from the library so we walk there all the time.  I really have no desire or space to collect/own books so most stuff I read is borrowed from the library.  I feel like I’m getting some of my tax dollars back that way.  Tongue Out

I'll probably get a nook at some point.  Maybe for Christmas.

Raises Hand!

I actually DM'd that season and REALLY enjoyed the setting--it had some of that Eberron Feel [in a good way, if you know what I mean] with all of the factions running around doing there thing. I also liked the Themes a lot...

That is so amazingly Awesome!

I came out of college dreaming of being a librarian...did not work out, but still I take my kids to the Library every Monday for Pajama Story Time.  Newport Beach Public Library has an amazing SF Collection, but the Fantasy stuff is not as strong.

I wonder if we could get a D&D Novel Day--like we do for D&D Game Day--in which gamers flash mob libraries? That would be epic.

That's cool you take your kids to the library, David.  I have a 14 month old.  The local librarian does kids story time on Monday evenings.  When my girl is just a little older I'll take her.  She's not quite ready, though we do read every night before bed.

I hope Brimstone Angels is okay for younger readers.  Look who has a copy!

I was wondering how long it was going to take before Gold Piece posted another pic of our youngest Book Club member!

David - I've sent Eric an email to change the picture.

I've got the print copy of the book because I collect (hoard) Forgotten Realms novels.  I like the cover a lot, but I'll second Erin's warning about the small print.  This is something that constantly annoys me with the Wizards paperbacks.  They seem to want them all to be almost exactly the same amount of pages and so they cram the book, regardless of word count, into those 300 or so pages.  I'm hoping that some day Salvatore or Kemp or someone with the big guns forces them into publishing a larger paperback and breaks the mold.  They should realize that fantasy readers are not intimidated by big books and stop trying to cram every story into the same size.  I've commented before on a few of our Book Club selections not only on the small print issue, but also the fact that they could have benefited from an extra 100-200 pages of story.  OK, rant over!

I'm guessing with the trend to move more and more of their novels to ebook-only releases, this will eventually become less of an issue.

I didn't play Encounters but in the current Realms campaign I run, my players have recently enlisted in the Harpers and have missions in both Waterdeep and Neverwinter. Good stuff.
