Hail and well met, Book Clubbers! Sorry I've been gone a while--it's because I've been writing a couple FR books of my own, blah blah, excuse, excuse. But you've done very well with the bookclub, and I hope that continues! One important piece of business: The folks over at Tome Show (a podcast that does reviews of novels, game products, etc.) has requested the chance to team up with us and host some more discussion threads. The format would be very much the same as what's going on now, only now with more options! (Score!) Rumor has it the first novel they are planning to review is Twilight Falling, first book in the Erevis Cale trilogy, by Paul S. Kemp. More details to come soon, but I wanted to give y'all the chance to weigh in on this and offer up ideas about how you'd prefer to combine forces. My inclination is to put book club threads for Twilight Falling in alongside Sword of the Gods, but maybe you have another organizational suggestion? I am open to ideas. Cheers

Erik, good to hear from you again! I am a regular listener to the Tome Show and think anything we could do to increase the participation in the WotC Book Club would be a good thing.
> Rumor has it the first novel they are planning to review is Twilight Falling, > first book in the Erevis Cale trilogy, by Paul S. Kemp. Would this be a review or more of a few chapters a week type discussion/conversation like what we are currently doing with SofG?
I really like the slow pace and open conversation format of the Book Club & would like to see it continue in that vein.
My general plans for the Book Club is to read all of the Abyssal Plague stuff as it comes out--I think that there are two more core books, a Dark Sun book, and one more Forgotten Realm Book--there may be others. But if there are four more books, it will likely keep us busy until around the September time frame. When do you envision discussing Twilight Falling?

I'm a big fan of Paul's and would probably go back and read that series again. Like David, I'd be curious to hear how they'd like to do the review - are they thinking the same kind of discussion we've been doing or more of a one time shot?
I think if we're going to discuss multiple books at once, we may want to create sub-forums for each book so the threads don't get all jumbled together and they're easier to find.

As the Tome Show co-host I'll be happy to jump in and answers some questions about how we envision things.
The plan is to read a book a month, Twilight Falling, to conclude around the end of June at which point we will record a podcast, with some level of audience participation, wherein we will discuss the entire book book-club style (rather than review-style where the focus is on the quality of the story while avoiding spoilers).
During the month while we read the book however, we thought it would be a nice to have a place to discuss the book in shorter segments. For Twilight Falling I was thinking something along the lines of threads every 5 chapters or so. This way, as people are reading the book during the month, they can swing by to discuss what's going on...even though they don't know how it's all going to turn out yet. But people could swing by and participate in those forum sections at their own pace.
I'm all for setting up our little corner as a sub-forum to keep things organized and easier to find, if that's what folks want to do. I'm pretty easy going on the whole thing.
Let me know if you have any other questions...I'm here to help! :-)

Well now, I have organized the discussion threads into subforums, and am in the process of moving threads to match. So far, I have: Ed Greenwood Presents Waterdeep (Downshadow, God Catcher)
Abyssal Plague (Temple of Yellow Skulls, Sword of the Gods) <--This is where the current Sword of the Gods discussion is going!
Erevis Cale (Twilight Falling [forthcoming]) <--Jeff, feel free to start making threads here.
(Books that do not fall into one of these categories will be left in the main book club until I figure something else out. ) Cheers
