Why should you play AD&D 1e?

    Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 5:36 PM

Why should you play first edition AD&D? Well its simple, its a wonderfully crafted game that has just enough balance between combat and roleplay with out all the annoying options the later editions give you to confuse you.

DON'T GET ME WRONG. There is nothing wrong with the later editions of the game, but as the game grew, there was more and more options added to the game, which made it confusing at times, making people have to flip to books constantly or re-read certain things to see how they worked in game... THIS SLOWED THE GAME DOWN.

I am not a man who likes to stick to the books, and I will make a on the fly judgement call just to keep the fun and excitement. There is not more annoying then, playing and getting into combat or social situation that requires a roll and having everyone argue about how something works... which has everyone flip to the books, find it and have to prove a point.

So to close this annoying rant, try out AD&D 1e, its simple, its easy and its fun!

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons First Edition Introductions

    Sunday, December 20, 2009, 8:58 PM

So after searching around, I noticed there wasn't a blog on here that was for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons First Edition (AD&D 1e). Logically, the next step was to help promote the love of my game and write a somewhat daily blog about the game it self from MY POINT OF VIEW, so don't read this blog and think, well he said this, and that's not true.

My style of Dungeon Mastering (DMing or DM'ing) is a very free and loose style. I do care about the rules, but I would rather keep the fun of the game going then sit down and have to rip open a book just to see how one thing works. The DM is the Referee in this game, and his call is final, so my call is, keep the flow going, and make a call. The players wont care that much just as long as the play flows and its fun.

Anyhow, that is what I think about that.

A little about me you ask? Well I am sure you didn't ask that, but I will tell you. My experiences go back as far as playing the Red Box D&D game, and then playing AD&D 1e when it was fresh and live on the store shelves. I haven't stopped playing D&D at all, I did take breaks to play other games, but my heart always went back to 1e.
